Punto Rojo - 1 has dark green leaves wispy flowers everywhere, sweet tropical fruit aromas from the plant.

First round I got no Punto Rojo males. PR - 1 was pollinated by these three males.

Destroyer x 1972 Highland Guerrero x Blueberry sativa male
Destroyer f6 is: [Highland Thai x (1960's Mexican / Colombian) x 2003 f4 Highland Thai
Blueberry - [(Chocolate Thai x Highland Oaxcan Gold x Afghani) x (Highland Thai x Afghani)]

Highland Guerrero x Blueberry f1 - " Mr. Perfume Skunk"

1972 Colombian Gold x C99 - "Accidental haze"

If the Punto Rojo male is not stable, as a back-up plan I just planted a few seeds of :
Punto Rojo,
Destroyer x 1973 Highland Guerrero / Blueberry f2,
SamS ["Original Haze x Skunk #1/ Colombain Gold /G13 x Original Haze x Skunk #1]. SamS said I crossed two Haze females with Acapulco Gold and a,
Mango Haze pheno - thin leaf long flowering (Mango Haze / Highland Guerrero/Blueberry), with a high similar to Punto Rojo and a similar sweet tropical fruit aroma.

Here are some pics from today of the columbian I have growing. I posted some pics earlier. It was outside all summer. She still could use another week or two but the weather forecast is a week of rain so I brought her inside until the chop. She has had rainwater only the last 10 days.

The flowers have a floral perfume scent with a fruity sweet odor. The buds are fat and firm but not super dense. Definitely not fluffy though. They have nice trichome coverage and are very sticky with resin.

ITarzan, nice Colombian Gold grow. Who developed the genetics/seed for this strain?

kaiki, is the "golden leaves" phenotype from Punto Rojo?

I would say it is around day 67 in the pic. It goes 80-85 for the few that grew it. In my experience in my area I use Oct 1 as the 60 day mark if things trigger fast. I was figuring an Oct 20-25 harvest.

There were some well known people on the farm that had this. It was found by Capulator in Columbian seeds he got from a friend. People were liking it. I hadn't had columbian weed since 1970s so I ask around and got a huge rooted clone. It grows and roots like crazy.

Here is a post from Capulator......

"my CG that I got last year while I was in Santa MArta smells like really over ripe mangos. Its my favorite. I had three females and kept 2. One finishes at around 65 days, the other goes to 80 but I usually take her at 70ish"

tnx for reply iTarzan, soo quick it seems

Dont think my golden above behaves the same, they are around 5 weeks and still females starting putting hairs, and for the dates that means December. I had been told before just that this 3rd line should give flowers with orange hairs, looks to me like a Santa Marta Gold.

Male shown above belongs to this 3d line as well but in different area and conditions for obvious reasons. Same behavior than Punto Rojo in the intersexual males issue but still some good individuals it seems.

Second line is more leafier by first sight, better sex, more numbers passed first steps, yet to identify better, differet shapes as well

Punto Rojo is the one showing the colorful calyxes above, other sisters give just green colors. Not proper males here.

Wow! very nice looking flora and so exotic. I’m excited to see the CBG Punto Rojo’s reaction to coming home and flowering under the Colombian sun after living “abroad” for so long. And I think the red snakes are going to come into their own down here too.

Here is a plant I grew from some seed I found in some executional bud that was from the Santa Marta in 2006. This plant is actually a cutting from the seed plant and I just left it alone in the corner of my patio. She only got a few hours of direct sun (when it was sunny) and took about 6 months total to finish once she rooted.

The cured finished flowers surpassed the quality of the seeded bud by 100% on every level but mine didn’t have the pressed “fermented” flavor. Instead mine were sweeter with a distinct coca cola incense flavor (after months and months of curing). The effect was well, like Colombian gold, bright, happy, mood enhancing clumps of tropical heaven.

Ai dios mio! Those are swelling with goodness. That high you describe is fantastic and part of what i seek in a good sativa. Nice work growing them.

Haze Colombian

Haze Colombian

Some of the best cannabis I ever had was grown on my patio in Bogota. It's not the best climate due to the chill and lack of sunny days but still the cannabis grew well, producing premium flowers.

Wonderful grows can be done in the city here but the best comes from here.

What a great post! Beautiful plant (what strain?), cool map, and gorgeous picture of the rugged mountains.

Is that isolated blob of mountainous coffee region in the north northeast area along the coast Santa Marta?

Colombia is calling me...

Sta Marta range is the isolated north spot, goes up to 5.000 mts above right from the caribean sea level. I think there are 4 different ethnias living there as well. Old Colombian Golds of past came from these areas. With the time they can call now for mona amarilla, samarian, santa marta. Also some indias should have other lines. They have rights to grow whatever they want

Thanks ThaiBliss (I know you love the coffee areas), the plant in the pictures is actually a 2006 Nirvana NL X Haze. I loved her long thin leaves and very vigorous growth. The finished flowers had the haze type flavor with a strong hybrid effect. I liked it but I only grew the one plant.

I am very interested in the area around Santa Marta which boasts the highest coastal mountain range in the world.

attachment.php

It is a large remote area inhabited by Indians that live pretty much the same as they did before the Spaniards came over 500 years ago.

attachment.php

The Indians there cultivate cannabis legally and have been for the past few years. This is indeed where some Colombia's finest cannabis was/is cultivated.

attachment.php

I hope to investigate this area further as I see enormous potential not only for cannabis cultivation but also canna tourism. And they grow a pretty good cup of Joe.

None of the are my pictures and are only being used as an example of some ideas.
