and i hope that succeeds as well. i'm sorry if i mis-read your intent in your post (very possible), but i don't think that Castro can "force" them to do what we were discussing. apologies offered. :shucks::redface:
"Forced to" may have been a poor choice of words on my part.

At any rate, several states that DJT won in both 2016 and 2020 are seeing lawsuits challenging his eligibility by a Republican Presidential "hopeful" (And I use that term loosely because he seems to know he has no chance of winning.). Meaning they will have to make a decision on whether or not to bar Trump from running instead of just ignoring the issue entirely as I am sure they would prefer.

From a politician's stand point, "Why have that discussion if we don't need to?" Well, now they need to and it will be public record. And that can be used against whomever in the future. To what ends remains to be seen. But it will come back to bite someone in the ass no matter how it ends.

And I think that's kind of the point of the lawsuits as well as barring Trump.

Since 1992 Republicans have only won 3 elections and two of them were without the popular vote. In 2004 GW Bush won re-election with a 2% margin of popular vote and beat Kerry. Tough choice that year. All 5 democratic wins were with popular vote. So, in the past 30 years most republican victories were the few controlling the many with gerrymandering and what other tricks they could come up with and only one clear victory. And, Prior to GW Bush winning without popular vote, the last time that happened was in 1888.

The New York attorney general’s office, which first accused Donald Trump of inflating his net worth by as much as $2.2 billion in just one year, now says the former president actually overstated his wealth by nearly double that amount. According to a Friday court filing from Attorney General Letitia James, Trump consistently lied about his net worth by $1.9 billion to $3.6 billion between 2011 and 2021, citing expert analysis. Even then, James called the huge figure “still a conservative estimate” as doubts remain regarding many elements of Trump’s financial statements. The new filing stems from a $250 million civil fraud lawsuit filed against Trump, his kids, and his business accusing them of allegedly using overestimates of his net worth to get more out of banks and insurers. But, Trump has previously stood by his “PHENOMENAL NUMBERS” and “BIG CASH” in a Truth Social post, claiming “I WAS DEFAMED BY NYS - ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” The case is set to go to trial on Oct. 2. Trump’s attorneys did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

They passed on charging Lindsey Graham in Georgia along with several others even though the grand jury recommended charging them. Sure looks like he will be one of the people putting Chump away.

Yeah that sounds about right, remember back when he first ran for President and people started talking about his total net worth? He was rountinely saying he was worth around 10 Billion. Then they began to look into it seriously and while they could never find solid proof many financial experts were putting his networth at more like 4 Billion and even then they said that was likely a generous appraisal. If you look back over the times he's talked about it most of the networth he would quote was based on nothing more then what he personally felt saying putting his name on something was worth. Which wasn't entirely outrageous because at that time the bulk of what he brought in thru his real estate business invloved nothing more then sell the right for companies to put his name on properties that he otherwise had absolutely no involvement in. Unfortunately for them, by the time he was nearing the end of his Presidency he was starting to leave such a bad taste in people's mouths that those same companies started to quickly remove his name because the association with him was causing the properties to fail.

Of course one of the biggest problems with Trump is his belief that any new whether it's good or bad, as long as it's about him is a good thing. Because of that belief and the constant flow of BS from him it's easy to forget the stories like what I mentioned above because it's just Trump, Trump, Trump 24/7/365. Peopl are mostly just exhausted by him now (other then his mindless horde of cult like followers of course). I mean I even see it in this thread There use to be so much more discussion about Trump. Now many of the people once active in this thread have just movd on and the handful of us left that might still talk about him are just kind of getting bored with it all. At least that's how it seems to me.

Did you hear Trump's response to this? He basically tried to say that nobody has accused him of insurrection (which while not true just totally ignores the whole "given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof"part of the amendment). But then he tried to flip it back on the Biden Campaign and the Democrats by saying they were the insurrectionists for trying to steal the election (which they still haven't put forth one single shred of evidence of). I mean sometimes I just wish someone would just slap him across the face for all the stupid crap he constantly spews.

in all fairness to those witless assholes, i'm not sure there is a bill that could be passed to "lower" prices. but you are right, they aren't even trying to make any policy so far...except to say "no" to anything Biden and Ds try. when the party collapses like the house of cards that it has become, that should be the epitaph carved on the tombstone -"we said no, what more did you expect? :dunno: "
