i'm an equal opportunity critic, if i think Biden is fucking up, i'll say so. if i think The Chump is, i'll point that out. do i balance them evenly? nope, and everyone that is honest knows why. i hate Pelosi and many Ds for their blind hatred of the 2nd amendment just as i hate the entire religious right wing of the GOP for trying to shove women back into the 1950s era of barefoot and pregnant. i despise BOTH parties for their extravagant spending on their pet projects and leaving infrastructure crumbling around the country. over 85% of citizens (according to polls) think that cannabis should be legal for recreational use by adults, and far more than that want it legal for medical use. why has that not happened? (rhetorical question)
Then this is relevant to your interests...

Donald Trump’s marvelous physical health and outstanding mental acuity add up to make the elderly ex-president a “very young 77,” the wife of the ex-president’s second son said Friday. Lara Trump, who is married to “weaselly” Eric Trump, made the absurd claim during a guest hosting spot on Newsmax, while trying to paint Joe Biden, who is a mere three years older than Trump, as an addled senior. She insisted, without apparent irony, that Trump’s unique fitness and vigor are proof positive that “age is just a number.” In 2015, Harold Bornstein, a Manhattan doctor who had treated Trump, who is considered obese, has high cholesterol, and famously does not exercise, wrote in a letter that, if elected, Trump would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein, who died in 2021, later confessed that Trump himself had dictated the letter.

Wow I'm kind of surprised that Eric's wife spoke so well of Trump. I guess she didn't read the recently released deposition Trump gave in the Business Fraud case in New York where he basically said he was too busy with other things at the time to be found guilt and that the Trump business was being run completelyby ric Trump. Then again maybe she just doesn't care about Eric anymore then his father seems to care. Of course most everyone following that case has been expecting that Trump would throw his sons under the bus in the end. So I'm really not surprised. By the way before anyone starts chanting Fake News, I'm pretty sure Trump's deposition is available to the public so you can go read it for yourself if you don't trust the media.

Oh I forgot to include this, here is a link to the transcript of Trump/s deposition. It should also be noted that the same day this deposition was released they also released a deposition from Eric where he pretty much corroborated everythin his Father said about him. I guess he's so desperate for his Father's love and approval he just doesn't care that his Father is throwing him under the bus?

If you've ever seen Colbert's impression of Eric, this kinda shows Stephen is spot on.

Trust me, we want Mitch to finish out his term. Because it's the RNC that chooses his replacement, not the Democratic Kentucky Governor. And who replaces him could be so much worse.

appoint a democrat anyway and go to court

Tres Watson, a longtime Kentucky political consultant and former GOP spokesman, said state Republicans don’t trust Beshear will follow the new vacancy rules, especially with a razor-thin margin in the Senate.

“I’d say most believe (the governor) will sue to overturn the law,” he said.

It's clearly time to start putting their regressive new laws to the test

In his veto message, Beshear said the law violates the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which gives voters the right to directly cast ballots for senators, rather than state legislatures filling the seats. The amendment also says a state legislature can empower a governor to temporarily fill a vacancy until an election can be held.
“The bill therefore upends a century of precedent by delegating the power to select the representative of all Kentuckians to an unelected, unaccountable committee of an organization that represents only a fraction of Kentuckians,” Beshear wrote in the veto message.
The governor also argued that the law violates a provision of the Kentucky Constitution that says state-level vacancies “shall be filled by appointment of the Governor.”

“No conditions, qualifications, or limits are placed on that appointment power,” Beshear wrote.

I would love to see this situation with Mutch start an earnest discussion of term limits, it's way past due and it's just not right seeing what's happwnning to some of these octogenarian politicians play out lve on the camera, it's a horrible look for our country. Most anyone else in the real world having those sorts of things happen to them a family member would be on the phone calling "A Place for Mom" making final arrangements to ship them off to a nursing home. While they're at it they could add a condition to the requirements to be President that say, anyone with a criminal record or facing prosrcution for a felony is automatically disqualified. The 14th amendment is nice and all but lets make the most powerful position in the world fall in line for what pretty much the rest of us deal with which is that if you got a record you don't get a jpb

A good first step would be to learn from the lessons of recent history and strengthen ethics standards and enforce violations of the oath of office. The Supreme Court would be the place to initially have term limits. Positions appointed by people found to be corrupt should face termination as well.

I don't think gullability is even going to matter, Trump won't be President again anytime soon unless some miracle happens. I mean if the polls are to be believed (although I don't put much faith in polls) Trump has no chance of winning assuming he's even allowed to be on the ballet. Then there is that matter of the 14th amendment and if he'll be deemed eligible. I know a couple of states have already begun looking into disqualifying Trump and I have a feeling a bunch more will get on board in the near future. I also feel there is a question of whether or not Trump will be around by election day. the last several appearence and a bunch of the videos he's post on his site have him looking very rough, like the stress of everything is really starting to wear on him. Not that I care but he just looks like a dead man walking.

A New York judge—unmoved by the incessant pleas from Donald Trump’s legal team to delay trial—made quick work of the former president’s last-minute request Tuesday night to push back his first big upcoming trial for bank and tax fraud. On Wednesday morning, Justice Arthur F. Engoron pulled out a pen and scribbled a nine-word remark at the bottom of the draft order that Trump’s lawyers wanted him to sign, rejecting it outright. “Decline to sign; Defendants’ arguments are completely without merit,” Engoron wrote, signing it with his trademark ligature “Æ.” The Trump family is now less than four weeks away from the start of a monumental civil trial in which AG Letitia James seeks to siphon at least $250 million away from the Trump Organization over accusations that it routinely inflated asset values and lied on official paperwork.
