Trump thread part 2 (Or anything else we want to talk about that's ridiculous in politics today)

"Court documents filed Feb. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, where Manafort resides, detail the settlement. The agreement came in response to the DOJ’s lawsuit last year against Manafort, which sought $2.9 million from him at the time, accusing him of failing to report consulting income from Ukrainian sources that w as deposited into accounts he is alleged to have directed to be opened in Cyprus, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and the United Kingdom."

Manafort, former chairman of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, agrees to pay $3.15M in fines on money Putin paid to install his man, Viktor Yanukovych, as president in Ukraine. The money was paid through offshore banks who generally are reputed for being very hush hush on such payments. The Bank of Cyprus is primarily owned be Chumps Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. Isn't that cozy.

I find it remarkable that every qualification Nikki Haley lists for herself is literally something about someone else; husband was in the military, parents were immigrants, kid is in college.

Vote for me everyone, my neighbor is a pilot!

Though, she does occasionally rail against identity politics. Then lists the reasons you should vote for her - "I'm a woman! I'm a Christian! And I'm Indian!"

Tell us Niki, what's your foreign policy position? "I wrote a book!"

I did like the subtle jab she took at Trump at CPAC though. When she claimed that senior GOP leadership needs to go because they've lost 7 out of the last 8 elections. Just left it ambiguous enough to be able to deny later. "No, Sir! I meant those other guys."

That's the part I find funny. I mean I get why these people like her, hoping to get a shot at the title are afraid to go after the former president but like him or hate him a big factor that got him the one win in 2016 was his willingness to attack anyone in his way no mater how well some voters might have liked that person being attacked. If Nikki thinks that not clearly attacking Trump will win her any votes she's sadly mistaken.

The fact that anybody thinks Trump would choose a woman to be his VP tells me they have no idea who Trump is. There is a less than zero percent chance he picks a woman to be his VP.

Oh I don't know about that. I mean I get what you are saying and why you say it and if Trump was still as popular as he used to be I would be more inclined to agree with you. That being said, Trump isn't as popular as he once was and so I think that if he felt that picking a woman VP would improve his chances of winning then I think there is as good chance of him doing it. Keep in mind, at this point Trump is most likely viewing the Presidncy as a way of escaping accountability for crimes he is facing. He belives that if he gets the nomination and/or goes on to becoming President again, that will keep him protected from any chance of getting indicted and/or getting locked up. I'm not sure if it actually would since there is no precedent for such a thing but the important thing is that Trump believes it will protect him. Another important factor would be whether or not a woman VP would be more inclined to pardon him should he manage to get locked up. If he felt confident a woman VP could be counted on to do that then I believe he would not hesitate for one moment to pick a woman VP. As has always been the case Trump only cares about what works best for Trump, he doesn't care what is best for anyone or anything else.

Eliminating "rogue" prosecutors.

This is where the guard rails come off unless the Supreme Court can override it.
Exactly, and what makes the whole thing even more outrageous at least two of the Georgian Lawmakers that passed this bill are targets of the investigation relating to Trump's perfect call asksing for them to miraculously find 11780 votes in favor of Trump. Oh and in case it wasn't mentioned Trump is fully supportive of this new bill and urged Georgian Law Makers to pass it saying it was urgently needed.

It's just amazing to me how blantant and shameless some of the members of the Republican party have become here lately. I'm not saying the Republicans would never have tried something like this in the past but at least they would have had the sense to at least try to be subtle about it.

I take everything on MSNBC with a HUGE Grain of salt. They are the DNC's propaganda wing and are almost as bad as FOX is. Almost.
Well they weren't the only ones reporting on this, virtually every major media outlet reported on these stories except Fox of course since one of the stories is about Tucker Carlson's white washing of Jan. 6th. I just picked thhe MSNBC versions of these stories because I felt like the covered it more completely and in language that was clear and easy to understand.

I also choose the videos I choose because at least in the case of the one with McConnell most of the video was McConnell himself. You can't put much spin on it nor should you need to when the story is someone like McConnell saying in his own words that the propaganda Tucker Carlson served up was an unfortunate mistake. Then there is the news that was all over the place Today where there are now text messages from Tucker Carlson saying he can't stand Trump. Let's see what that does for Fox's and Tucker's ratings in the next few weeks.

This ties in with the Faux News problem where republicans must decide how wacked out they can let it go. Pair this up with Chump saying "I am your retribution" where the guy is hyping the nuts up for a revolution. These guys really need to get a grip. McConnell is pushing back, but it appears that it's too little too late. His lack of leadership let it go to the next step worse which is what we have now with McCarthy beholden to the party' worst.

Yeah it's always dangerous when you got someone like Trump who has an eerie power over his supporters talking about being retribution and such but I'm hoping that it turns out Trump is over estimating his power. The people on Jan 6th got away with a lot more then they should have because nobody wanted to optics of a protest beng put down violently at the doors of a place that fights to preserve and protect the constitution that gives people the right to protest. However it was never intended to protect violent protest. I heard it reported months ago that somewhere on the capital grounds there were forces armed and ready with live ammo to put down the protestors if the ever got to the point of actually harming any congressmen, semators or the VP. Had those forces come into play and opened up on the protestors once the first few bodies hit the ground they would have scattered like rats on a sinking ship. Now there probably would have been a few crazies like the leaders of the militias present and their followers who would try to put up a fight but they were counting heavily of being shielded by the cannon fodder that most of the protestors present. Those would be the rats to scatter first and without them the militias would have been put down brutally in short order.

The same kind of thing goes for all this talk of revolution or civil war. It's all fine and dandy when it's just a boastful threat but when it comes down to actually fighting one against the most powerful military in the world these maniacs have no clue what they would be dealing with. When they talk about that stuff most of them are imagining a war of them against the libs and in their minds the libs are just a bunch of peace loving people who want to ban guns and therefore they don't have any. Problem is that conception they have is false. There are plenty of people on the left who not only have guns but regularly hone their skills with them at the shooting range. Most of these MAGA types are not much better then Hillbillies and their idea of honing their skills are to go out back and plink a few empty cans of beer and/or to hunt small game with AR-15's. It's going to be just like the day after Trump got served with the search warrant. He tried to entice an angry mob to hit the streets in protest and only a handful showed up. A couple of lunatics tried stuff like the one guy who shot up and FBI field office and he got sent to an early grave for his efforts.

Plus with everything that has been coming out about the lies of voter fraud and the lies that is FOX news the number of true believers are getting smaller by the day. Some think they are still strong because Trump won the straw poll at CPAC with 67% but they're ignoring that a whole bunch of people decided not to show at CPAC. If Trump was as strong as he once was that straw poll should have been more like 90%. 67% of a shrinking number is stil a shrinking number.

It was more or less confirmed the day after that there were HR Teams on the ground in Washington ready to start knocking heads if it came to a congress critter being taken.

And I would be AOK with a National Divorce. I for one would be much happier knowing my tax dollars didn't go to a rich athlete's daughter's school for a new volleyball stadium.
