I just had a thought - I wonder how many are going to Jim Jones themselves and family members the week Trump strokes out rage Truthing?
At this point it looks like nothing will change their minds. One might think they would be somewhat suspicious and recent developments would change their minds. Not so.

Rage truthing would be great with Chump telling them what fools they have been. The ones in prison would really get a kick out of this.

Once the violent MAGA base finally realizes they have been made fools of by the republican parties fire hose of Lies then my prediction is some of the more unhinged gun toating MAGA members may be all to willing to put those lying Republicans in the cross hairs and pull the trigger.

Which is more or less all Gaetz is trying to do - deadlock Washington. He believes a non functioning government is a win for his team.

"Once any cabal, whether it's military, oligarchic, monarchic; siezes total power it engenders political paralysis. I watched this happen in Yugoslavia.
In essence, you have, which we have with the Democratic party, figures like Clinton & Obama... a self identified liberalism that is a faux liberalism. It speaks in the traditional "feel your pain" language of liberalism, but assiduously serves the interests of that oligarchic corporate cabal. And that means the government is thrown into crisis because it is unable to respond to the rights, grievences, injustices, most basic needs of the citizenry, and all of that is getting worse under the name of austerity...."

Neoliberalism pushes the working class away from liberalism and into the arms of fascism.

So at this rate one of two things will happen. 5 repubs will "cross the aisle" and vote Present to give Hakeem Jeffries the gavel. Or, the House will remain as it is until 2025 and the Senate will do whatever is necessary to keep the lights on and that's it.

No there is one other option. at least 5 but it could be a few more, will cross the aisle and agree to put legislation on the floor to keep government running and to address important concerns such as funding aide to Israel and Ukraine with one of the Republicans crossing over agreeing to be the speaker which is a scenario that the Democrats have said they're open to (since they realize it would be really bad for the Republicans crossing the aisle to make a Democrat the speaker in a Republican majority). This would be my prefered option as it would demonstrate clearly to the Mags Republicans they don't have the power they think they do. Then the house would get back to the business of doing the work of the people which is what they are there to do. It would also send a message to many voters who just want a functioning government that to get what they want, they need to vote out the MAGAts as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Which in turn would pave the way to a resurgance of a more traditional Republican party. I mean sure it would be nice to have it go the way Matt Gaetz wants it to go and then see the Democrats get overwhelming control of the house and Senate but really we need to do what we can to end the MAGAt movement and return to the old Democrat Republican system and hopefully along the way politicians on both sides of the aisle will realize that what the people actually want is a two party system that can operate in a bipartisan way rather then having whatever party that wins even the slightest majority means the people want the majority party to push theiir own personal agenda rather then solving the actual problems faced by the people. I know, that's a lot to hope for and it likely won't happen but that is the actual will of the people (not counting the MAGAts of course).

I wouldn't read too much into the motives of the people taking deals and pleading guilty. The first two powell and Cheseboro, thru their right to discovery saw that the State had a strong enough case against them to win. So far all of them are getting deals where when it's all said and done they'll have clean records, won't do any time in jail and won't have to pay too much in fines or restitution. It's really a no brainer for them. If it weren't for the ability for them to have a clean record once it's all over and not do a single day in jail then i kind of doubt they would be making these deals and would just roll the dice and see what happens.

Well from what I'm hearing about the new speaker I think we can count on most of what comes out of the house as performative with any legislation beyond spending bills being squashed in the Senate and it will likely remain that way until after the election where all signs currently point to the Democrats taking back the house and holding onto the Senate.

Chump just harangued the judge again, calling her a Chump-hater.

Strike 3 buddy. Time for a good ol' smack down with 30 days in the slammer.
Same justice anyone else would get for being such an asshole.
I agree but I'm thinking that's exactly what Trump is hoping for and she's too smart to let herself get played that way and so she'll come up with some other way to really twist the screws to him. Now mind you, I would love to see the bloated orange turd get sent to jail. Think about it though, everyone has been predicting the next time he'll get sent to jail and there has been lots of recent reporting about Trump fearing being sent to jail. So it makes absolutely no sense for him to turn around and do something that everyone thinks will land him in the place he's scared of unless he figures that will ultimately be to his benefit in how he'll be able to spin it. If it was anyone else he attacked then yeah I think she might lock him up but since he attacked her I think she'll go a different route. We'll know soon enough though.

It's true and he is a manipulator. Everyone, including him, knows that he has lost this one.
Allowing him to derail the process with his petty antics would be very poorly played.
In that court room, when it comes to smartest person in the room, he has very low ratings.

Hell in a kindergarten classroom, when it comes to smartest person in the room, he has very low ratings.

When I made that post last night I hadn't really heard any of the news being reported about it yet. After I made that post I did catch a report that indicated that not only did he say what he did about the judge but he also called Bill Barr a fat pig (I guess Trump hasn't looked in a mirror in quite some time). Which the report I heard suggested that was witness intimidation because Barr might be called as a witness in the DC Jan 6th trial. Now personally I would disagree with that, Trump calling someone a fat pig hardly seems like intimidation to me. It feels more like just Trump's usual habit of projection. Of course it's not what I think it was but what the judge thinks it was and if she feels it was intimidation then we might see Trump going to jail afterall.

There was a different incident however that might have an even stronger influence on the judge. A Jan 6th rioter who was found guilty for his activities at the Capital was out on personal release while he awaited sentencing and got himself caught attempting to dox FBI agents. So he was brought back before the judge to face the violation of his release, which the judge revoked and when officers were attempting to take him into custody, this brainiac, Vitali GossJankowski, decided it was a good idea to get into a fist fight right there in the courtroom. Usually being allowed to stay on personal release while awaiting sentencing is a good sign that if you play your cards right by demonstrating remorse and a positive change in behavior the sentencing will be very light, maybe even just be probation. However after doxing FBI agents and getting into a fist fight right there in the courtroom, this "stable genius" can pretty much count on having the book thrown at him.

Given that his behavior was an imitation of the behavior Trump engages in, it's very possible that the judge Trump will face for violating his gag order could see the wisedom in preventing Trump from continuing to inspire that sort of behavior by locking him up as well?

From what I've seen the legal minds in the prosecution are far, far ahead of Chumps lawyers. They hold their cards very close and the progression started at the bottom and went to the top. Once they hit the top, they had their choice of the prime flips. On the Chump side, the lawyers can't control him and let him run his mouthing off game. This shows crappy lawyers who probably insisted on getting paid up front, knowing his history of not paying. If they were any good they would have him on a very short leash and wouldn't need a judge to gag him. I heard he has blown $100M in legal so far. Getting all that money up front, a bunch of no name lawyers are laughing all the way to the bank. Just what he deserves.
