All politicians lie to one degree or another which is why my favorite saying regarding politics is, How can you tell when politicians are lying? Their lips move.
As crazy as it sounds Raskins position makes sense if the democrats forced him out of congress before he was convicted of anything it would just give license to either side kicking out any politician they don't like for all sorts of crazy reason Oh he just said his favorite color was blue but last week he said his all time favorite color was green, kick him out of office.
You can't compare it to Trump because he isn't in an office he can be kicked out of at the moment. Also at the moment he hasn't been convicted of anything. They tried twice when he was in office but each time the Senate failed to follow thru with the sentencing after he was convicted. That helps fuel the belief that it was all just a witch hunt and is the basis for why they're trying to impeach Biden now. They know the Democrat controlled Senate will let him off the hook if they succeed so it's not about trying to get justice under the law it's about trying to get revenge and tarnish his record just the way Trump feels his record was tarnished. The next best thing is being done to Trump right now with the 14th amendment section III which doesn't reguire any conviction of a crime.
Now if Santos gets convicted and they still do nothing then you will have a point. Although in his case I think it should be allowed to be handled by his constiuents thru a special vote seeing as how he convinced his constituents he was something that has since been proven he is not. Talk about setting precedents though, let the people decide outside of a regular election, oh hell no, we can't allow that.. What's next? Term limits? Reverse Citizen United? Abolish the Electoral college? Oh hell no.
