Problem is, she is changing on you all the time, with ever decreasing N requirements. Thai is a high maintenance girl. She will give you lots of time to dial it in, except that by the time you do, she will change.

ThaiBliss

You got that right buddy. As I was making the post about Thai B I was thinking how were both on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to fertilizing, but the answer is somewhere in the middle like with that last plant you posted. Then of course once you think you have her figured out, she proves you wrong!

Isn't that a woman's prerogative ^^^ LOL
Couldn't have said it better myself :).

hi all,

about the N defiency on the pictures: if you grow pure Sativa's towards the end more and more leaves will turn yellow, it's normal. If you add N it won't do you plant any good.
Search this forum for pictures of Oldtimers Haze and you'll see that the plant has similar fall colo(u)rs. Which is because of low night t°.

Siever - the one who's not sieving hash. Perhaps this fall

Greetings,

I just wanted to note that the best weed I ever smoked was a freaky Neville's Haze pheno that never mad buds at all. It was worse than Dr. Grinspoon, and it looked exactyly like this:

picture.php

I got rid of it because it took forever to trim, and I did not even get an ounce of calyxes to smoke. I regret it.

Dave - Even if you don't get buds, ride it out. You may get to sample the best smoke ever.

Well. I read it. And made an icmag account just for this thread.
I'm a younger grower, so I have never tried the old school trippy varieties, but I believe the legends.
As a person whom enjoys all things trippy, and wants to delve into this world, where would you guys reccomend I start with what's available on the retail market, ace, cbg, etc.
I'm thinking start with destroyer, but maybe you guys have a better suggestion.

I definitely intend to see how these new shoots of growth produce compared to the other buds that are developing normally. Maybe I'lll even get enough for a few bowls to enjoy. If the shoots ever fill out Ill post updated pics of them.

Ill be glad when I dont have to run Thai B after this run. Im still plucking off a random nanner popping up every 3-5 days. Thankfully its 1 or two and nothing fullblown to deal with. Thai A still is rocking pistils only for now.*fingers crossed*

Ive heard nothing but good things about Ace. They have their own subforum here so you can do lots of research there. If you're looking for something less worked maybe GN Thai Stick. Its on sale right now, but I can't say I recommend it without experience growing long flowering sativas before.

Of course Destroyer has a really good rep around here too. Buy em all and die of pure bliss!

I was planning on grabbing that and the GN Lao since they're on sale, but was definitely looking for something more reasonable to start with as I've only grown haze hybrids as far as the 85 day mark, but no further.

Hi DonChamp,

Welcome, and thanks for the good vibes. Glad to have you posting here, and looking forward to posts of your trip tests.

From my personal experience:

Neville's Haze
Bangi Haze
Zamaldelica

My wish list due to reports from others:

Destroyer
Punto Rojo
Mango Haze
Vietnamese Black x Meao Thai
Highland Mexican x Blueberry
Green Haze x Meao Thai

As always, it all depends on the selection. Bangi Haze is the easiest to grow, and will get your head pointed in the right direction. Zamaldelica is much more powerful, but can be a bit disturbing and introspective. I have not found the balance I desire in Zamaldelica yet, but it is pretty easy to grow also. I'm not sure how easy it is to maintain a cutting due to root restriction auto-flowering traits. The Neville's Haze I got way back sometime around 1998. If the formula is the same, seeds from the same mother and father cuttings, then looking through significant quantities of these could get you something spectacular.

Hope my two cents helps,

ThaiBliss

Greetings,

I was doing some research, and I found some more buds that look a lot like my GN x NHz x MM indoor grown buds:

picture.php

Notice the bud at the top of the picture. It is also grown indoors from some seeds from Mauritius. It got blanched at the bottom of the foxtails, just like mine.

So I have now seen this in Red Beard (Rooibaard) and Mauritius. It's interesting to me anyway.

Thaibliss, your suggestions did help, and I'm a big blueberry fan, so the chimera highland Mexican as well as their vision Thai x blueberry have been added to my short list.
Punto rojo looks appealing too.

Hey Waldgeist,

I like the look of that also. Is that from Dubi, as in the Nepal that is in Bangi Haze crossed with Meao Thai? Nice job with the NGC D70, whatever that is. You did a nice nutrient fade on that.

I've got some cured Nepal Jam buds that I will post soon. Some went real gold.

I love this thread ThaiBliss, truly inspiring, thank you.

Walgeist, that last pic looks like a Big Sur Holy Weed I have but with thinner leaves. The jagged look to the ridges make me feel like Im dosing just looking at the over all plant. Full of geometric patterns that have a mesmerizing appeal.

The most psychedelic weed I ever smoked was an Acapulco Gold many years ago that had me out of my body similar to a mushroom trip.

Closest thing I have now is a Vietnam Black x Colombian Black with questionable heritage. Very interesting varieties to say the least so I will post a couple soon.

BlackBuds - Thanks for the good vibes. Haze is supposed to have Acapulco Gold in it. It may explain the freakily good Neville's Haze chemotype I found. I think many types of weed have trippy effects, but that Neville's Haze freak was just like a combination of psilocybin and Thai Stick.

Satva - Thanks for helping to make this thread good.
:tiphat:

Siever - Sorry that I missed your question earlier. The Neville's Haze freak phenotype was the best weed I ever smoked. I grew something like 30+ Haze plants in a row before I found that plant, on the very last seed I tried.

Donchamp - Glad you got the goods. I hope you will post your grows in this thread, and especially your smoke reports.

Here is a shot of how the Nepal Jam plant I grew last summer is curing up. The buds on the left started to slowly die for about three weeks in the sun after the thunderstorm came through and broke a bunch of branches. They wilted and started to turn gray green by the time I hung the plant up in a shed to dry. Only after a few months of curing did they start turning golden brown. The buds in the middle where green buds that have been hanging for months. The buds on the right were cut when dry enough to prevent mold, and put in a plastic bag, which is my normal routine. It appears my normal curing routine needs some work, because these are by far the greenest and raw looking:

The aroma of all of these are spicy with a syrup/honey background. Hmm... good.

I'm following that HM X BB and others as well. Nice choices donchamp

ThaiBliss that is a very robust line up of flowers. I think they all look nice, but do you feel that there are less desirable effects or flavors from the more green buds?

Hi 3rdEye,

In my opinion, for what it's worth, the three most important keys to good quality smoke, effects and flavor, in order of importance are:

1.) Genetics

2.) Timing of Harvest

3.) Proper Cure

This assumes that the basic needs are met. For instance, strong light, minimum levels of nutrients, warmth, etc..

B.T.W., thanks for posting. What do you have that most closely qualifies as trip weed?

zamal x malawi/thai ~ 16wks. sample after 2 months is very good. aromas are mostly floral, maybe a little carrot. tastes is a floral cherry. the cherry caught me off guard...
not very expansive and quite smooth. creeper effect that builds quickly. energetic and intense. a mushroom like tingly feeling through my back and racing brain. 2 hits is somewhat jaw clenching and hallucinatory.
...this is my trip weed

Looks killer. Nice job e.T.

I have Jamaican ganja (60's Lambsbread) primed and ready to go. I can't decide what to grow after that. I'm torn between getting back to testing Zamaldelica or growing Punto Rojo. I know what you're thinking... grow them both.
I don't want to forget my recent lesson. I tweak light cycles and nutrient levels throughout the flowering cycle, so I need to grow plants together that have similar flowering/ripening periods. If I remember correctly, Zamaldelica is somewhere between 9 and 12 weeks. I've heard that Punto Rojo is more like 21 weeks.

Nice problem to have... considering that 2 years ago I could not find any seeds that I thought were worth trying.
