hey Thai bliss...greetings I’m an older dude @ 56 years & grew up east coast smoking some of the marijuana imports you describe mostly circa 1975 > 1980...in '81 & '82 there was an influx of the "Buddha Thai" or "chocolate Thai" ...this was the real deal thai marijuana no if's, and's , or but's about it...it was completely devastating marijuana, but not particularly psychedelically trippy ,more like extra ultra heavy duty powerful marijuana...
The Thai Sticks I revere were skinny and wrapped with a natural looking product. I always thought it was very fine shavings from bamboo. It may have been fibers from Cannabis stalks. I don't know. The first time I saw a Buddha Stick was in about 78 or 79. They were much fatter than the Thai sticks I was used to, and not as impressive. I'm not sure I ever had Chocolate Thai, unless it was the loose stuff.
Here are what the Thai Sticks that I'm talking about looked like. These were posted by Bushweed on the Pure Thai Sativa thread. Notice how hard it is to see the material that is used to wrap the bud material to the bamboo stick which runs down the middle, but you can see it if you look closely:
They came in bundles. Bushweed posted pictures of those also, but I can't find them.
Thule posted a picture of a plant from a seed from Laos that looks a lot like the plants I grew from the seeds I found in Thai Sticks:
Dirtboy808's Chang Mai Thai also looks like the Thai I grew from T. Stick seeds:
I would define the smoke as trippy, and most of the traits I listed would have applied. They were also very speedy, induced paranoia, and made my nerves/teeth buzz like when one's leg falls asleep. Very intense for the first hour. It was all cerebral.
My definition of cerebral is would fall completely into the realm of trippy. If I describe weed as cerebral, it is trip weed. But as I posted recently, my definition of trippy is broad.
