The Search for Trip Weed

hey Thai bliss...greetings:tiphat: I’m an older dude @ 56 years & grew up east coast smoking some of the marijuana imports you describe mostly circa 1975 > 1980...in '81 & '82 there was an influx of the "Buddha Thai" or "chocolate Thai" ...this was the real deal thai marijuana no if's, and's , or but's about it...it was completely devastating marijuana, but not particularly psychedelically trippy ,more like extra ultra heavy duty powerful marijuana...

The Thai Sticks I revere were skinny and wrapped with a natural looking product. I always thought it was very fine shavings from bamboo. It may have been fibers from Cannabis stalks. I don't know. The first time I saw a Buddha Stick was in about 78 or 79. They were much fatter than the Thai sticks I was used to, and not as impressive. I'm not sure I ever had Chocolate Thai, unless it was the loose stuff.

Here are what the Thai Sticks that I'm talking about looked like. These were posted by Bushweed on the Pure Thai Sativa thread. Notice how hard it is to see the material that is used to wrap the bud material to the bamboo stick which runs down the middle, but you can see it if you look closely:

picture.php

They came in bundles. Bushweed posted pictures of those also, but I can't find them.

Thule posted a picture of a plant from a seed from Laos that looks a lot like the plants I grew from the seeds I found in Thai Sticks:

Dirtboy808's Chang Mai Thai also looks like the Thai I grew from T. Stick seeds:

I would define the smoke as trippy, and most of the traits I listed would have applied. They were also very speedy, induced paranoia, and made my nerves/teeth buzz like when one's leg falls asleep. Very intense for the first hour. It was all cerebral.

My definition of cerebral is would fall completely into the realm of trippy. If I describe weed as cerebral, it is trip weed. But as I posted recently, my definition of trippy is broad.

One other was a Woodstock ny strain had me call good ol delightful. Trippiest shit called god bud for short nut was almost all sativa so not tue same as bc bud

It's been a pleasure to read the thread, definately has me inspired.
Lots of new varieties to try for the future :)

Like everyone I can vouch for zamaldelica, the best trippiest weed I Let it go until pretty much every pistil was orange, because I read on the zamaldelica thread it's worth it and otherwise can be very speedy and "terrorific"
It was still very energetic, uplifting, clear and also SPIRITUAL (First strain I would classify as spiritual ), also overwhelming, most of the times in a pleasureable blissful way
And all of that outdoors at 48N lol
Ok i had it in a pot and moved it inside to finish the final 2 weeks without supplemental lighting
Still, I was amazed by the finished product, cold temperatures don't seem to slow down flowering progression like in some other tropical strains

Here comes my surprise entrant:
BubbaKush x Hashplant90s
The set and setting contributed, it was evening outside and the sky pretty dark already, almost like during night time
I smoked i really fat joint of this strain to see what this weed can do
Optical illusions like trailing images
I look to the left and right and my mind wasn't as fast as my eyes
Also Color enhancement (the little Color that was outside) and also streaks of Color
You know when you take pictures with longer duration and move the camera while that and then look at the picture and see the lines of light, this is the best comparison I can think of, some of the lines where also colourful
And a general excited trippy grinning feeling
When I went back inside the visual Trippiness wasn't there anymore, also the mental trippiness decreased
So I went back outside LOL
I was so surprised because I didn't think indicas are trippy but this thing was just a cannabinoid-bomb !

^^ I recall someone saying they could foretell the future by smoking a certain old hashplant strain. They would have visions. It was just one particular strain of hashplant, but that would qualify as trippy, right? Might have been from Sensi. I think he was on this forum.

I have smoked a 'indica' that had fat leaves and got a rocket ride high from it. Wired up like you could not believe.

I found an extremely high quality devastatingly potent individual in a pack of Neville's Haze in the late 1990s.
I found it by growing a pack of Neville's Haze, a pack of Original Haze (Tom Hill's?), and a pack of WillyJack Haze. Out of all those seeds, about 30, none came even remotely close to that one from the Neville's Haze pack. You have to work hard to find it and lucky that you grow it correctly when you do.

The Original Haze had by far the best looking plants because of the sativa look, yet so resinous. I thought I found the old school great shit when I saw those. But the pale yellow stretchy Dr. Grinspoon looking one from Neville's was mind blowing. I tell people that it was the best I've ever smoked in my life, and I grew it indoors under HID lights.

I've heard good things about Tom Hill's and Nirvana.

I hope this helps,

ThaiBliss

Thank you! This does help a lot. Now I have to dig through some seeds heh.

Yes, I love my SAGE. I have a purple pheno, as you know. To recap, for others who haven't read the entire thread (and because old people repeat themselves often), I used to have a green pheno, but I let it go because I thought it didn't have enough kick. I regretted it, for a long time. I finally got another cut, a purple one:

"... it had that inner enlightenment" is a good description. I have plans for that cut. I hold Big Sur Holy Weed, which is a relative, and a Maui that has a similar less sweet but stronger piney aroma. I have read others describing a gunpowder aroma for SAGE, which kind of rings a bell for me also. I'll kick it off with a male Burmese, Miss Universe, or Mextiza. When I breed those together, those are going to be good seeds.

I tried a Jack Herer before. I wasn't impressed, but like all hybrids, it is all about the right pheno.

I remember smoking a hash plant that gave me a trippy experience. It was very flashy. It only lasted about 10 minutes, but what a wonderful 10 minutes it was. It was extremely euphoric and floaty. I tried very hard to get that strain, because it was early enough for my climate, and had nice fat buds. I always wondered what the children would be like when crossed to a more long lasting cerebral/trippy strain.

Let me know if you find it in C99 again. Something so early and quick ripening is a dream.

I have been looking at some C99 because I've seen so many descriptions describe something that fits my search. I've been disappointed so far. I have a few Miss Universe seedlings that also sound close. I'll be posting pictures here as they develop. Miss Universe has some C99 in it. I should know by next Christmas time.

Do you think LostTribe found a good C99?

I never really found tripping weed in c99 ,
i grew a shit load of them ,
was a bit too spacey to be trip weed i thought ,

when u cross it with a pure sativa your getting closer to finding it,
too fast to be trippy ,
i know its advertised as a fast sativa ,
but thats a bit like trying to get tyres for your car that suit both the wet and the dry i reckon ...

can't tell... but i'll know for myself soon 'cause i'm currently flowering out some F1 clones...i also made a lifetimes worth of F2's to grow

i get some good cerebral effects from Headband...also gg#4 (while mainly intensely euphoric)...i have some past experience with Mako Haze...that one was very hazy ... I once did crossed Mako with my old C99 F2 this is what she looked like early on >
