The Search for Trip Weed

Yesum it was the brown Michoacan colas de zorra I.e. foxtail buds that I bought in 69 that was the best Mexican I ever got back then but the Michoacan that I bought from a couple of Mexican American guys that had a dispensary in Santa Rosa about 7 years ago was the equal of the 69 Michoacan ,good Mexican is still around Arjan and Franco need to film their next Strain Hunters in Mexico and call it Cajones and Connections .

Greetings,

The outdoor trip weed search continues. Here are some pictures of this year's plants:

Here is the bushy member (others are tall and lanky) of 3 Ciskei experiments:

This year I have a wide variety of health conditions for the plants. Some Bangi Haze x NepJam plants are 5+ feet tall and have explosive growth. Others, like Ciskei are very sensitive and have been stunted with excess and/or a dearth of nutrients. On track for a few to get to 22 feet tall. Selecting results for the trippiest, even if only 4 foot tall.

Best to you in your search,

Trip Weed Definitions

I think it is time to repost one of the first posts of this thread. I think this is the best post in this thread for keeping in mind what it is all about:

I collected a bunch of descriptions of Zamal and Zamal derived strains like Zamaldelica and others to start my "Zamaldelica - The Search for Trip Weed" thread. I'm posting them here because they encapsulate the spirit of the type of high that I am looking for, and I'd like to share what I'm really going for here:

Dubi - "I remember walking with a friend in the city, totally disoriented. We were walking in streets we know since we are children but we almost coudnt recognize them. It looked like a different place or city for us. We neither knew what we were doing or going, walking without direction around the old streets of my city."

British Hempire – "wow, what a smoke, very very potent, all in the head, a clear, electric, euphoric racing high, I'm a very experienced, hardcore smoker, I smoke all day every day yet this stuff had me higher that I think I've ever been before and positively messed up my friends who tried some. I took a walk to my friends house, a place I have been many many times and couldn't find it, walked up and down the street looking for the house, then had to ring him on my mobile phone as I got really confused, just awesome stuff. I have been in a satate ot total euphoria on this stuff, makes you talk a lot about mad ideas, sing silly little songs to yourself and wander about looking very baked but grinning insanely, just as close to herbal acid as I've ever experienced, straight to the number one slot on my list of best smokes."

Terpene - "...all I can say is HOLY S***. If you are looking for the terror ridden, thai clarity..." "First two hours were INTENSE, scary to the point anyone who wasn't a seasoned smoker would not want to be high anymore..." "...you see at 2 frames per second and there are a lot of "whoa, how long have I been here...... wait, did that just happen?" moments."

Xinox - "...first time i try it, i just look at the street through the window and i literally bug on it..." "you have some kind of slight stroboscopic effect. Then you feel some waves in your body, like you are carry in a wave. We also try this weed at 5 on my vaporizer and the conclusion of the assembly was clear that this weed is heavy shit..." "The high is strong but also very clear, it's indeed very psychedelic and long lasting. This pheno is almost hallucinatory, with some very visuel kind of effects. I'm quiet sure that this weed could easily paralyze a beiginner."

Dubi - "Zamal has a unique kind of high, it's crazy, psychedelic and out of control, especially i have found extremely powerful and crazy plants crossing zamal with other sats and sat/ind hybrids. It has huge breeding potential to get incredible sativa experiences in the hybrids..." "...with a terrorific electric high. It can produce serious paranoia and anxiety when correctly grown..." "...some phenos produced some of the most powerful sativa high i've ever smoked. A mix between anphetamine and LSD." "It was an overpowering accelerated, psychedelic, disorienting crazy high." "Zamal lemon produced one of the closest experience to LSD i've had smoking cannabis."

VanVulpen – "...added a totally new dimension to the musical experience, and gave me the true meaning of "rollercoaster weed""

DeadM -"...another one was terrorific..many friend after one can't smoke anymore of it ..they were unable to speak and move..."

Chamba – "...it was very intelligent and trippy in a way that I often felt like (if I smoked enough of it) of watching myself from above which gave a new perspective of things..at the same time it took ages to put my shoes on!"

BongHitter99 - "…walking back to my room and WHAM! I’m fucking high now!....electric fiery energy courses through my body…heat felt in chest and face…my hearts pounding hard now, I know im in for a ride....feeling extreme euphoria, almost like I want to love the whole world…this is some serious love weed for sure!...very UPBEAT! And motivating …..clear, no couchlock or heavy body load, ….this shit is great for club hopping, partying, socializing….this high just takes your breath away in awe..."

Unknown Guest - "No doubt the very best weed I smoked in my life was Zamal. It only happened to me a couple of times to find some stash that reminded of zamal's quality in holland. The best weed is the one that was not touched nor fertilized by man during its whole life. When they hear about our HPSs and fertilizers stuff, they laugh a lot."

Laugan Gaucher - I love Haze! I don't like most of powered zamal/haze hybrids. psychotic and hallucinogenic. Like Lsd or psilocybine you can have good time and bad time at the same time."

Mosca Negra - "Gerrit's Zamal is some SUPER FINE SMOKE!!!"

What reminded me is a recent post with another slightly different definition of trippy that I like. It is about Purple Zacatecas from a grower who has. It was copied and posted on this thread by Riddleme:

"That is a pure sativa from Zacatecas. If anyone has a thinner leaved sativa I want to have it. Super smooth smoke with heavy yields. Best high in the world, happy, creative and long lasting. You feel light and floaty with de ja vu, and laugh at everything. Also an aphrodisiac for women."

Best,

I have been reading on icmag for years but after I found this thread I had to join!

The descriptions and stories remind me a lot of when I first started smoking in the early 90s during my early misguided youth. As a broke teenager there was lots of Mexican that we got, some schwag brick weed that rarely had the faint smell of gasoline from being transported in a gas tank, to some pretty darn good compressed, but not nearly as dense as brick compressed stuff. Would occasionally get something called Afghan that i still remember the smell and look and the occasional hydro or crippy as it was called. My favorite was always the energetic, uplifting smoke that caused a permagrin (aka sh*t eating grin) and induced extended bouts of laughter. We usually had cheaper stuff and it seems like that was the most common feelings though occasionally there was the stuff that made you not want to move and just find a comfortable spot and listen to music and didn't seem as sociable and talkative. At the time I didn't associate it as a different effect and I think I remember thinking it was a matter of potency and being the result of stronger weed. Thinking back now it seems like it was a different effects and not based on potency and how 'high' we were.

I have many fond memories of laughing until sides hurt and we had tears running down our face. One of the first times I introduced my best friend to Mary, we rode our bikes about a mile away to indulge. On the way back there was a slight 1/4 mile long hill we had to go up and something happened and we both dropped down to the grass and had, what seemed like, a good 30 minute laughing fit sitting in the grass on the side of the road next to a speed limit sign. Towards the end we tried to make ourselves not laugh and appear normal when a car approached and as they passed we would break into another side splitting fit of laughter. I also have vivid memories of sitting and staring at a painting of a stream where it looked like the water was moving and flowing down stream. And also of a bright moon lit night that looked more like a claymation style cartoon. I was a daily user back then and have lots of those memories and we were almost always doing something because we couldn't sit still in one place for very long. There were also those more narcotic occasions and I don't remember them nearly as well it seems. I guess after all this time I could be convincing myself that things seemed that way because of what I now know about sativa vs indica effects. But I do know that I don't like the high of most stuff I get these days like I did back then and it's been a long time since getting the giggly effect. I had almost convinced myself the difference was being young and carefree with nothing to worry about vs an adult in mid 30s with more responsibilities and some nasty health problems that have introduced a lot of negative energy into my life and thoughts. In fact there are times where smoking is closer to a bad trip than a fun time. But now I'm starting to think it's because most everything is a hybrid and sativa qualities are just no longer common. Maybe I just need to look for cheap brick import again.

But growing is about the only way I can afford anything and gives me something I like doing. I have a decent amount of sativas from Ace and Acapulco Gold and China Yunnan Mtn from Bodhi as well as some sativa leaning crosses and other things that sound interesting like Burmese Kush and an '88 Afghan from MI in addition to a bunch of more popular modern strains. I'm in Florida and also grow outdoors so maybe our intense sun, heat, and high humidity might actually be good for some of the sativas.

After reading the beginning of this thread I realize there are tons of strains I have never heard of and need to look into as well as a ton of info to learn from you guys. I hope you don't mind if I follow along and ask some questions! I have a couple Malawi going and getting much more excited to grow them out and see what they do.

Sorry for the long rambling nostalgic intro! And have a great memorial day everyone and stay safe!

Welcome, and thanks for the good vibes.

The descriptions and stories remind me a lot of when I first started smoking...

My favorite was always the energetic, uplifting smoke that caused a permagrin (aka sh*t eating grin) and induced extended bouts of laughter.

You are in the right place.

At the time I didn't associate it as a different effect and I think I remember thinking it was a matter of potency and being the result of stronger weed.

This is still the common perception. When I think of potency, I think of the "high", not the "stone". Even people who seem to "get it" still describe a "stone" as more potent. I have experienced all levels of potency of the "high", from euphoric and energetic, to tripping balls. So... my idea of potency is how strong the up and cerebral part is. In all honesty, I discount the couch-lock stone effect as a undesirable side effect that does not count at all towards the high. To me, it is like a hangover after drinking. I don't want it.

Thinking back now it seems like it was a different effects and not based on potency and how 'high' we were... I had almost convinced myself the difference was being young and carefree...After reading the beginning of this thread I realize there are tons of strains I have never heard of and need to look into...

I still find these good cerebral trippy strains, but they are rare these days. That is the reason for the thread, to promote, preserve, and share stories of these strains.

I hope you don't mind if I follow along and ask some questions!

Feel free. Glad you found us.

I felt the same in Barcelona with a Sweet Island Skunk in my lungs. Everything was surreal i thought i'm in another dimension where the sound was with a reverb on top and the vision was altered with 1 frame per second. That was trippy as fuck!

I got something going that could maybe qualify, two Cambodians.
Here is a pic of the bigger one.

Nierika Seed Trust Yunnan sativa and Acapulco Gold, Norstar Zapotec- Oaxacan x Colombian Gold, Oregon Green Seeds Oaxaca x Iranian and Nepalese Rocket or Nepalese Highland, CBG Mangobiche, CBG Jarilla, Eskobar Oaxacan and Jalisco.

Have the Jarilla, Oaxacan and Jalisco in flower now. About 2 months to go.:tiphat: I wanted straight Mexicans but settled for some hybrids as well. The Nepalese is supposed to more euphoric than tripped out.

No! Don't even let Arjan and Franco on the plane or else you can kiss your chances of ever getting Michoacán back in your life goodbye.

I don't believe for a single second that they will ever release landrace beans. At least not until theyre positive that they've polluted all landraces at their source.

Whats that? You want trip weed? Sure... $50... 1 femmed bean. Probably watered down with a hybrid WLD, at that.

Massive plants, great start. It will be delightful to see when they start to flower. Worried about the height and winds?

@yesum
Is there any chance to see your esko oaxaca and jalisco? I'm about to get some oaxacan for indoor and wondering if it's a good choice or not. Maybe Reina madre would be better?

@Donald
Those pics are crazy! :)

Grafting

First off, wonderfull thread. I'm up to page 125 now, lots more to read.

Often enough the frequent posters to this thread mention limitations to grow space or plant numbers. While examining my fruit trees a while back I was wondering if grafting would work with cannabis, wich is a common technique on fruit trees. Surely enough I found some good information and proof that it works on youtube, which is mentioned in this thread as well.

Grafting can be a wonderfull tool to keep many different strains (clones) alive on a single mother. In short, you can cut off a branch and replace it with a branch of another strain that will continue growing if all goes well.

Besides that I imagine that for breeding it can be usefull too. Say you crossed 2 males with 4 females of the same strain, you can grow the 8 different combinations as grafts on a single plant and have a little bit of bud of each to test. It might be too much of a hassle, I can't speak out of my own experiance. Still, I hope it helps someone to find (more) trippy weed
