Got a lead on a very nice Mex, I'll let ya know if I get a cut
Someone asked me about this, here is what the grower says about it

That is a pure sativa from Zacatecas. If anyone has a thinner leaved sativa I want to have it. Super smooth smoke with heavy yields. Best high in the world, happy, creative and long lasting. You feel light and floaty with de ja vu, and laugh at everything. Also an aphrodisiac for women.

Snowcap speculates that the reds and purple found in Haze were Colombian Reds, Colombian Purple or old Mexican varieties such as Zacatecas Purple, Torreon Violet, Zihuatanejo Purple.

A Cannabiogen Club member recently posted a grow of Colombian Punto Rojo where the entire plant, leaves and flowers were maroon/purple similar to that picture of Zacatecas Purple from the magazine cover.

Some NLD Punto Rojo phenos found in Cannabiogen seeds

Awesome pics......I remember how nice the first Mexican sinsemilla was once it started flowing into Arizona the early 70's. It was exceptionally full of red hairs, the female pistils, largely now i see because so much of it was NLD strains like you have mentioned.

The leaves shrivel into virtually nothing so when it was harvested, dried, and packed there was little "Wrapping" of the buds.

hello ,The Colombian Point Rojo is a beautiful plant, I have a hybrid very old enclosing said genetics, very trip , perhaps rehearsing still with the Colombian Point Rojo feno "short" would bring more power but less productivity, shame that the source(cannabiogen) seems to be finished. hello to everyone and good search

Hey Madjag, various phenotypes of Cannabiogen's Highland Punto Rojo. They correspond to SamS descriptions of Colombian / early Haze, maroon, light green/gold, silver, dark green. Others have found the classic Colombian Red Point, or Red Dot and others have found a purple pheno-type +18 - +22 weeks of flowering.

Some believe Mexican Red Hair was a Michoan variety. I found a Red Hair Mexican in CBG Destroyer which originally used a 1960's Mexican/Colombian male. Mexican like the one shown by RiddleMe have a denser and tighter flowering structure than Punto Rojo.

Wow... what a bunch of great pictures. Thanks for posting peeps.

Satva - That Oaxacan may have had skinny leaves, but the buds are getting fat and furious just like the one I had.

Riddleme - That Zacatecas looks like the real deal. I have seen a picture of the leaves (vegetative plant) in an old magazine, and the picture you posted looks just like that. That purple color is very similar to what my SAGE cut looks like when grown in cool temperatures and easy on the nitrogen. I think the Zacatecas Purple is what gives my SAGE cut the feeling of being in the presence of God. All grins and at peace with the world's folly. Some of the finest Mexican. I'm surprised at the density of the bud on a plant with leaves that skinny. I ache to find a more potent version of SAGE with the same high. I hope you get it.

Best,

ThaiBliss

Zacatecas Purple, Zihuatanejo Purple, Delores Purple

Zacatecas Purple, Zihuatanejo Purple, Delores Purple

Some claim Zacatecas Purple... is a connoisseur Mexican variety, others claim that red or maroon varieties like Punto Rojo, Zacatecas Purple have a spiritual high. Nothing wrong with that!

Without a Zacatecas male, I'd use a Punto Rojo male to make seeds.

"I hope that the Mexican cultivars of old will return again. So much was lost, many family generations of growing family cannabis lines. I believe a lot of the mythical cannabis lines like Haze were comprised of mainly Mexican lines. Like the Purple Haze phenos, well it could be Colombian purple phenos but from my research and talking to people in the know. Some of the Purple phenos in say Old Timers Haze I believe is actually genetics from Zihuatanejo Purple which seeds were brought to the areas around the Big Sur Mountains which is below Santa Cruz down the coast of California.

Coincidentally the strain called Big Sur Holy Weed had Zacatecas Purple or Torreon Violet in its genetics. So the Delores Purple could have also been what people were calling now, Zacatecas Purple or Torreon Violet.

I ate some pasta made with " torreon Violet tops in 1969 and got so high that a friend had to drive my V. w. from Vacaville back to Santa Rosa . I heard in Mazatlan that the town of Fresnillo , Zacatecas was we're gringos went to find a weed connection in the sixties . I also. Heard that the Perry The Zen Monk Big Sur Holy Weed story was not really true .

Bump to get "member" status with the 50 posts! so i can pm Clarence & Old Pink about how to how to pay with with western union and/or moneygram. I Have sent over 50 emails to "support" with no response! on 4 money orders i have mailed, & they have not been shipped out yet! I'm guessing they are lost or stolen. Tricky

Scored landrace Michoacan seeds about 7 years ago and bought an ounce from the dispensary that was selling it , cut through high .

Spread em around if you have any. I think my grail was Michoacan brown. Was dull brown but made the world bright and shiny looking.:woohoo:

Thanks for sharing the punto rojo photos Satva, I have one seedling going right now that's showing some promise.

BTW that awesome magazine cover with the Zihua Purple... I hate to pop anyone's balloon, but its a color infrared photo. I think the incredible Mel Frank took it. The sky isn't really green either.
