The Postman's Overgrown Closet Grows #2

I got the first couple seeds from the Wonder Diesel x Wonder Diesel pollination the other day.

Checkout the size difference between the two phenotypes.. The group of smaller seeds taken from the Sour Diesel dominant female, and the larger seeds from the Williams Wonder dominant phenotype. I'm looking forward to smoke the gems these seeds should produce that is for sure.

I really love smoking the williams wonder dominant wonder diesel I kept. Both the sour d, and wwonder are noticeable in the flavor. The flavor as not as spicy-herbal as the diesel pheno, more of a smoother creamy perfumy lemony aftertaste. Both are great, and the sour lemony spicy diesel flavor of the diesel pheno I kept is one of a kind, but the creamy perfumy flavor of the other after a nice long cure is extremely smooth tasting. the high is nice and balanced too.. You feel it in the head behind the eyes, and if you indulge the body high can be quite numbing.

Thanks for the great meds Rez!!! My cus, and I both thank you for getting these genetics out there to the masses. Without those few who take the risk so many like myself who are geographical challenged would NEVER have the opportunity and that's the truth.. I'd still be growing our meds from seeds found in commercially grown local buds if it wasn't for the community, and those finding the importance in sharing this forever treasured herb we love to grow.

I hear you on that... I grow nothing but bagseed from local bud and still love to see what i come up with.... I have had some nice smoke to puff on threw the years.. One day soon ill end up buying some nice genetics from one of the breeders around here.. Take it easy postman..

Plant number 2 is a purple phenotype
headbanger.gif
.. Buds on her look very much like the PPP mother with the darker purple developing, and bright fresh off white-yellow pistals. Plants numbers 3, and 4 have some color to a small degree, so I'm curious as to if those are gonna continue to show more of that later in flower.

Starting get some scents from these ladies, and it's scent all their own... Not exactly like the ppp in early flower, and not to overwhelmingly wonder diesel.. I'm excited to smoke on them...

Great news Postman! Those Rez seeds should give you something to really get excited about!

I agree about the grow journals. Win, lose, or draw, every grow on here can teach you something. Everyone has a different style and a different way of approaching things. Like me...I'm totally ghetto because I'm a poor sucker, so I do things the cheapest way most of the time, lol!

Far as the new setup for me goes...You're right, total renovation, but I'm hoping it's well worth it cuz I'm going broke, heh! :headbange

^^^ Man I'm really stoked to get those chem d bx.. Just in time for a new upgraded closet I've been putting together..

New strain, new light bulbs, new closet, new organic mix based on long term sustainability, new burlap grow bags.. Ahh I've got a few ideas kicking round in my head to keep me busy for a while anyway. wanna try an organic bed grow, as well as scrog eventually...

Good luck with the work your doing there.. I hope the investments pay off for ya big time!!

Ahh, so you're getting a good makeover as well....excellent! You can scrog or you can just train them like hell with lst and tucking fan leaves. A few minutes a day playing with them tucking and bending and you'll jump the yield up quite a bit. I can't wait to see how your new stuff works out...specially since I'm sidelined with the build. :smoke:

Thanks 151kushmaster, I can't wait to see them finish either. I got a nice variety in this test run I thought.. There is slight differences from plant to plant going by looks, and I always find that exciting come harvest time to see how the flavors/highs vary as well.

The color seems to be a pretty dominant trait as three of the four plants have some degree of purple. Where the trichomes are starting to develop and cover the calyx on a few buds it almost looks like lavender highlights. The purple color seems to always be darker on the buds that receive the most light as well. All four are starting to get a nice greasy coating of trichomes as well..

Update pics

Plant 1 Seems to be only plant that hasn't shown any purple/lavender coloring.. It's a green pheno, and seems to resemble more of the wonder diesel in it's bud structure.

11783o-1a.jpg

11783o-1b.jpg

Plant 2 resembles the PPP mother the most as far as the darker purple coloring. it's still is receiving some characteristics of the wonder diesel as the ppp is a full cola producing plant, and these seem more located at the ends of the branches. It is still early though, and I'm sure every things gonna fatten up quite a bit more till harvest
11783o-2a.jpg

Really beautiful purple/lavender colored buds.. Trichomes are starting to come in a lil heavier as well.
11783o-2.jpg

11783o-2b.jpg

11783o-2c.jpg

Plant 3 is the odd plant... Indica dom single cola dominant. Buds have really nice lavender highlights, and this one seems to be a lil ahead of the others as far as trich development and all in all progression of flowering... This one will probably finish before the others. I had to tuck some fan leaves to open light to the bottom of the plant. this one I happen to like a lot.
11783o-3.jpg

11783o-3a.jpg

purple color is much less noticeable the further away from the light the buds are
11783o-3d.jpg

Plant 4 seems to be the most sativa of the bunch, but in reality nothing like 100% sativas. Mostly in the bud structure. This one as well has some nice lavender coloring to it.. The pistal/hairs on this pheno seem much longer, and buds developing a bit more fluffier. Trichomes are concentrated on the calyxs themselves more so then the other plants which are getting more of a coating on the bud leaves as well. The trichome covered calyx appear more lavender then purple. the bud hairs seem to be a weird yellow and green.

^^ Yeah tbug those hairs are pretty wicked huh? Really thick, and extra long. Some appear a greenish-white color when fresh, and then mature a lil taking on more of the yellowish-white you see clearly in the pics... It looks really unique though with it's trichome coated lavender calyx's and bright yellowish pistals.

This one certainly is pulling more of the ppp colors traits, but I'm not to sure on bud structure.. One of my more sativa leaning wonder diesels had looser sativa lookin buds like that, and I'm also certain some of PPP South African heritage could look similar. Whatever it is I can't wait to smoke it up LOL.. The slight differences between the plants of this f1 cross is making it exciting. I mean given the small genetic sample of 4 plants, and seeing the differences between them, who the hell knows what else lurks in those seeds I have stashed away
rasta.gif
. All these plants were also back crossed/lightly pollinated with their Wonder Diesel daddy. I'm hoping those seeds will yield a more stable selection, or at least a bit more offspring clearly showing Wonder Diesel characteristics. The purple color appears to be inherited consistently amongst the offspring to some extent, so I'm really interested in plant 3, and 2's back-x seeds.

Can you imagine a sea of green of plants with plant 3's single color dominance, The increased trich production and flavoring of a good Sour diesel or hybrid, along with the ppp's beautiful purple colored weighty buds? Damn That'd look so friggin good if I shall say so myself hehe... Many many single cola'd trich covered purple beefy buds yum yum yum.. LOL
muahaha.gif

One good thing bout plant 3 is that the clone I took, and am vegging took to a multi branch/bush style of growth no problem.. When the clone vegged to about the 5th node I went ahead and tied the top down 90 degrees, and the inner node growth took right off catching up with the top in the 2-3 days it took the top to bend to the light taking back it's dominant position.

Wow Mr.Postman, I love that cross you made. Looks like a lot of fun, finding different phenos that you created, seeing how the grow, watching them mature. Looking great, as usual!

I just cant get over this. Your thread has too many pics, too much info. Even after reading it all there is so much I cant remember what I read for the first hour.

And the pictures!!! There are too many! This may sound nuts, but, every one of your pics is so amazing they make all the other pics look boring, so I spend all my time in your thread, and never get to do anything else!

hi mister postman
you may or may not remember me from the gc forums
but anywho I have a few Q what do you think is a good soil to use from seedlings all the way through flowering I was thinking I was going to go with fox farm ocean forest soil but now I have heard reports of seedlings burning with this soil is this a good soil to use for a whole grow my last 2 grows have died from burning my last grow was topp 44 allso what do you think of this 12/12 from seedlings system from what iv heard it is supose to make the plant have pretty much just 1 big cola bud allso what feminised strains have you tryed am not worried if there are a few seeds as long as theres not a ton of beaners and hardly any bud so give me a list of good fem strains :headbange

its been a while postman, i havnt been spending much time on any forums lately, too much other stuff goin on... and because of that i lost track of your progress. i dont have time to go back and figure out where i left off or read back, but im curious what you ended up doin with the PPP that you had, did you ever cross that and if so what were the results?

i wish i could share my own progress, but i havnt been to see my gals in months now, im not even sure they still exist...

but as always, they look great, and good luck with future endeavors!

I have used fox farms ocean forest, cut with a lil extra perilite, and I have used the ocean forest cut with the light warrior mix fox farms sells. I liked it cut with the light warrior the best. I have grown from seed to harvest in this mix without issues back then, but I can see a possibility of variance from batch to batch, year to year. I only used these expensive premixed soils a few runs before moving on. But I found the ffof to be a descent mix, but it's not amended enough to sustain growth through flower, so you will need to add nutrients eventually. How you do that is up to you, you can use liquid fertilizers, or amend further with dry organics, or make teas etc. The soil does contain some good organic material though that will sustain growth through the first few weeks of veg., and if repot often you could probably stretch it a lil longer if you only need a relatively short veg cycle..

I never did a 12/12 from seed... I would think thats usually done for long flowering tall growing sativas to control height/flower times etc., but some have tried if with other strains.. If you wanted a bunch of short plants and had seeds I guess you could do this. I'd rather grow out the seeds, chose a keeper, and grow from clone, flowering them out soon after rooting if I was looking for short single cola plants. The plants will not go straight to flower from seed, they will veg under 12/12 until they are mature enough to flower. I really don't know what the point of this would be other then what i suggested above, to control height... The yield that could be gained with a short 2-3 week veg would be substantial though IMO, and you could keep them extremely short with lst.

I grew female seeds ice, grapefruit x northern lights, and those are documented int he female seeds section here on icmag

Good to see ya..

The PPP cross is being flowered out right now as I type this, and is being documented right in this here thread. Crossed it with wonder diesel
