High Post! Great job as always! Got my fingers crossed for somthin' special to come from your hybrid. I did a lil' crossing myself NL#5xDream Godess. Just an expirement ...lol, but I love the long ass hairs on the dreamgodess so I hope it keeps that trait and NLs stone is a much longer lasting stone, so we'll see what happens.
GL and keep them glossy photos comin, bugout :Bolt:

Hey TBug thanks for stoppin in. So far so good with the cross... I got two with what looks to be purple buds, and thick yellow pistals very much like the PPP momma.. If either was to have received some of their daddy's lemony diesel flavor I'd be a very happy Postman..
headbanger.gif

I did quite a bit of breeding of these two strains. I just got done doing a wd x wd, got the wd x ppp, and just a few wd x (wd/ppp) LOL.... Should be able to find something in these beans. I was pretty excited to see some of these plants developing the purple coloring from these ppp x wd beans.. I really thought It would have taken a sibling to sibling breeding, or a backcross to the ppp momma to produce the purple phenos.

Good luck with your cross.. it's always nice to have some seeds put away for a future grow.. Not only that, but I find it extremely exciting growing them out, and selecting keepers, and just seeing what the genetics hold, and how they combine.

update on the Pure Power Plant x Wonder Diesel cross... so far the girls are coming along alright.. Took a bit for these ladies to finish out that preflower stretch, and start putting out some bud.. I made up a good high P bat/molasses tea, and micronutrient foliar this weekend and probably won't have to feed to much more for a while.. the soil is really rich, and seems to be providing them plentyof nutrients.

Plants are looking good though.. I'm starting to notice some phenotype variance amongst the plant... Mainly being two having their mothers purple to some degree with the thick yellow pistals. Another really stands out amongst the rest having dark wide leaves, and mostly a center color dominant growth pattern.

just one lonely preflower seeded by stray wonder diesel pollen.... the BX LOL..
Actually got a few on each plant so that's pretty cool.. At the time I placed these into the flower closet I had just got done pollinating my wonder diesel. It was just enough stray pollen to pollinate the first preflowers on each plant LOL About 5 seeds each.. Hey if these seeds don't yield the goods I'm sure that'd be my ticket to a couple more wonder diesel dom phenos.

plant 4 showing the most sativa of the bunch I'd say..

Questions:

Looking fantastic as usual. A couple questions if you don't mind. On page one you mentioned using "miracle grow organic choice potting soil". This is their potting mix right, not soil? Also, I have read your thread here and on GC and don't recall you providing much detail about your ventilation setup in that closet. Is it just a box fan and a couple of oscilating fans?

Yes, organics choice potting mix.. it's not a soil, but a peat based organic mix.. MG sells both one organics choice packaged for amending garden soil outside, and another organics choice mix for container planting.. The outdoor is the large organic choice green bags, and the one for container planting is a brownish, or tannish-yellow bags.. Only difference between the two I believe is perilite added in the container mix, and a lil extra manure, and no perilite in the one for amending outdoor soil plots.. The one I used in the beginning of this journal was the container mix.. BUT I've also grew some mean tomatoes this season using the garden/outdoor mix in containers...... Just needed to add in the perilite, and a lil dolomite lime.

I'm no longer using the organic mg soils though.. Not for any other reason then wanting to design my own ideal mix from scratch. i found it fine to use as a base in which I amended further with organic material for the plants nutrition, or using the mg with a lil extra perilite, and using a complete liquid fertilizer once the organic nutrients in the mix depleted.

For the longest time I grew in an open closet, utilizing box fans, and anything else I had on hand to move fresh air in and stale air out. With some commitment it worked out fine LOL land produced me many pretty flowers. I really enjoyed growing such mean marijuana with the bare minimum invested LOL... I eventually upgraded though to the aircooled reflectors, 6in inline fan with carbon scrubber which creates sufficient passive intake for my space. Next run I do I'll share some pics of the new setup..

I don't know if I'll miss the closet or not Postman, lol! :biglaugh:

I am working on a 10x11 room now, but I learned all the tricks with the closet. I started as a newbie over four years ago with two 400w hps in there and no real cooling. I've tried everything......ugh! I've pulled a few very nice runs out of there though and it was all built. This new room has a week or two of work to go. Closets can work wonders...will I miss it? Only time will tell, eh, but I think the big room is going to be much more fun!

I checked out your thread today actually S2D.. Looks like your taking on some renovation job there.. Good luck with the room, and I'm sure you'll appreciate all that space!!

As long as I can pull a few O's every couple months I'm pleased LOL.. I'm gonna try and tweak out a lil space shortly for a couple runs.. That's if I can get this heat under control... 94 degrees 8 inches under the 400 right now
no.gif
gonna have to ramp up intake or something, maybe add a couple fans in the closet blowin over the canopy.. i doubt I;d have them 8 inches under the 400, but I'm use to almost touching the bulbs with the 250 LMAO.. The rooms it's in is warm to begin with, so it's making it a lil difficult.

Mister Postman, just wanted to say thanks to you and everyone else in this thread for posting such great info. I'm a newb planning on starting my first grow in 2-3 weeks and I think alot of this information will benefit me greatly, not only for this upcoming grow (have to do CFL's for a bit) but also for future grows.

It's really amazing to learn so much about such a helpful plant and I just wanted to thank everyone ahead of time. Although I have a feeling it is going to be much more rewarding to reap the benefits of all this info.

It's been my pleasure T4C. Really glad you liked the journal, and found some of the stuff useful.

Just starting out growing thats what u got to do, read, read, and read some more. These journals as a whole are such an important, and useful tool to anyone giving growing a go. Nowhere else can you get such detailed, and hands on examples of growing our fine herb then in the grow diaries..

A few lovely Wonder Diesel buds (Diesel pheno) I hit up with some sibling pollen... These buds were so damn goood both flavor, and potency I had to make sure I had some seeds in storage in case my clones ever go to shit for some ungodly reason. I figure these seeds should hold show some awesome examples of the parental plants used in this cross..

Anyway here you go..

Seeds are starting ripen up, and split the calyx. Looks damn good, and sounds like a good cross to me.. Hey as long as your crossing two plants ya like, I don't think you can do to much wrong. I mean you don't have to breed to a stable perfection to produce nice plants. Once you start growing out those seeds you can see how the genetics mesh, and go from there..

To be honest for as long as these have been under 12/12, some other strains I have grown would have been quite a bit further along in bud development.

These power diesels were not as photosensitive as some other strains I've grown, and grew a good week or two in 12/12 as if they were still vegging before taking on a good 1.25x stretch. It was like they grew like typical indica or indi dom hybrids until they hit flower, and then they stretched out, and newer leaves started to slender a bit, and some of the sativa attributes became apparent.. Even the fatter leafed indica pheno is starting to slender out a bit as far as leaf shape goes.. That indi dom plant is SWEET... So far the fastest to flower, the most trics, has some purp coloring, and the diesel aroma is just now starting to become noticeable.. I can still smell some of the ppp herbal-spicy aroma, but the lemony diesel scent is there as well.. I'm really stoked to see how they combine as far as flavor.

They are now about 3 weeks since bud set. I'm expecting a few of the phenos to run a good 10-11 weeks for fully ripened buds from the looks of them.

One thing i noticed is leaf shapes amongst the phenos.. The diesel or wonder diesel smelling plants have a different leaf shape then the ppp smelling/appearing plants... Basically the wonder diesel plants secondary leaves do not have the two backward facing leaflets like the typical leaf.

normal leaf structure
11783x-4d.jpg

notice the wonder diesel plants I grew out, and the wd smelling plants in this ppp x wd hybrid do not have the two backward facing leaflets. Doing some research, and checking out pics this seems to be a common trait given the pics of the diesel, og kush, chemdogs I've seen which all share common genetics
11783x-3d.jpg

On another note Rezdog was nice enough to add me to the list of those lucky enough to beta test his up and coming release of the chemdog bx1 (chemdog d x (chem d x hindu kush). Being deprived of great genetics for SO VERY long I'm friggin stoked to finally be having the opportunities. I'll do my best to do them justice that is for sure. Thanks for the great meds Rez!!! My cus, and I both thank you for getting these genetics out there to the masses. Without those few who take the risk so many like myself who are geographical challenged would NEVER have the opportunity and that's the truth.. I'd still be growing our meds from seeds found in commercially grown local buds if it wasn't for the community, and those finding the importance in sharing this forever treasured herb we love to grow. Thanks to ya all, Rez, gypsy, the whole seedbay crew, All the breeders Rezdog, mandala, Annac to name a few keep up the good work.... Hell even the lil guys like myself crossing two favorite strains for nothing more then self gratification, and creating something all your own, and to your liking. i guess what the ego freaks call the closet hacks LOL, it all has a place in making cannabis what is today, and it's all appreciated.[.img]http://www.icmag.com/ic/images/smilies/canabis.gif[/img]
