I would think better because of their diets. Chic-a-dees have a balanced diet and those birds have more of a specialized diet. Just a guess though. Never tasted the mentioned birds. I have eaten duck and geese before. I'd imagine it's similar to the first to?
Seagulls and pelican are instant pukers.........rotten rank fishy nastiness.
Robins while very gamey are at least swallowable.

I was hoping for a turkey like experience out of the pelican..........lotta meat.
😆
I was really tired of mullet and blue crabs by that point in my life and there weren't any wild Turkey's around.
I once was gifted an illegally taken swan by a former partner (reasons varied for him being a former partner) and told "It was a goose as big as a swan!!"

He was being funny.. It was a swan. Incredibly illegal. Stringy, tough, little meat on the wings, etc.

They're much more beautiful alive up here than they are edible in a roasting pan.

Only swan I ever cooked and ate. Last one I'll ever cook and eat.... unless I'm stuck some place in the bush and starving.

My second trip to the Yukon this last summer, my solo trip, depressed, and making the route for a variety of reasons. Never even launched my boat.

But I swear I saw at least 20 pairs of mated white swans in the many swamps, ponds, and muskegs on my trip down and back.

Took it as a message. later looked it up. Can't recall specifics other than loyalty and togetherness were among them, I think. Maybe love.

Cried a couple times to witness them again and again in their regal presentations.

From the top of the Googe search, just in case I was remembering incorrrectly.

>>""Swans are a symbol of eternal love. Swans 🦢 find a mate and they mate for life. If one of the swans dies, the other does not find another companion. They are eternally connected.""<<

Like I said...

It was with a broken heart at that time that seeing these gorgeous birds in these wild places brought tears.

And yes, they mate for life.

Texas is technically in revolt and now has the written pledge of support of another 25 states..........they can pretty easily fan this into martial law and suspension of habeus corpus.
No elections no protests no anything cept the current regime in perpetuity.
Its a nearly perfect excuse........"To save the republic!"

Not my photo. And these two look a little bit different to me than what we see up North. Maybe not?

Obama took care of habeus corpus in 2011 when he passed the NDAA...the blueprint for why some people from recent events have been held for years...with no guarantee to a speedy trial.

Only thing cooler was when Bush Jr used fear to get the PATRIOT Act passed.

Sigh.

I’ve been wanting one for years. I ask everyone that goes out west to bring me back one but I guess they are a pita or maybe illegal to bring back. To tell you the truth I’ve never seen one only in pictures. Thought one would look cool hanging in my house. Kinda crazy right? Are they alive?

I also ask folks to bring me a rock back when they are going to visit somewhere. Been asking for them for years. I have rocks from all over the world. Silly I know but I love my rocks.
@SubGirl -- OMIGAWD, Wumman!! I thought I was the only nut in this area.

I have rocks from places I have been... Like a piece of Windsor Castle, one from the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, one from the tunnel at Colditz Castle, a piece of the Berlin Wall, Gibraltar, Biggin Hill (WWII base where Unca Irv flew his P-51), Pyramids (Egypt & Inca)... oh jeez, a lot of memories.
