Arlo makes me want a pup. After hanging out with a full size poodle over a couple summers I was really impressed. He was smarter then me and had way more patience. Poodles or poodle crosses have been talked about alot.

I'm not working on the road these days and that's always been the hang up. ???

German shepherds and poodles are both prone to separation anxiety, and man, can they whine when they think they've been left alone. Never mind that they're in their own home or car.

We had a 19+-year old 14-lb. poodle that was a rescue my wife had brought home from a former employee. Joseph. Incredibly good companion. Stayed with us for about 6 or 7 years, then this last summer we had to have him put down due to loss of awareness and losing his ability to ambulate.

Provided me/us with many moments of sitting in my lap over those years. One of the best lap cuddle pups ever.

Maryjane has grown to love Arlo at playtime but she still has a jealous bone for him. She plays way harder than him and is much faster and leaner than him. He’s kind of a lazy boy and a mommas boy too as he’s like my shadow always with me and I kinda like that. Maryjane hangs out with Mr Sub as he’s more fun than me and spoils her more. Arlo is not as chill when other people or pets are around embarrassing jumps and barks lunging towards them on the leash. Trying to work on that and seeing tiny progress everyday. Still, I think the older dog is always large and in charge even if he can’t keep up anymore. The dogs know it and have respect for rank in the pack.

One of my best all-time canine buddies was named Jeremy. He was the pup of the AKC Norwegian elkhound I hitchhiked around North America with for years. He was 1/2 elkhound, 1/4 GSD, 1/8 husky and 1/8 coyote. Loved kids and playing with them, loved to travel, protected my 1964 Ford F-100 like it was his own (the doors didn't lock, not with a key, anyway), and was just plain loyal, dependable, and lovable.

Cancer took him out in the early 1990s.

I was riding my fist, nicer 1992 HD FLHS over to Northern Manitoba to visit friends from the Yukon Territory in a little town called The Pas. Phoned home from Hudson's Hope near the Peace River just NW of Ft. St. John, BC, from a payphone booth there, just after sundown. My wife told me he'd fallen down in the driveway when she'd taken him out at our home in Valdez.

I offered to turn the bike around and head home and she told me to continue on my way and she and the vet would keep him alive until I returned, which they managed to do.

Got back home about 12 or 14 days later and was afforded enough time with him after my return to lay on the floor with him, stroking his mane and head, staring into his eyes the night he passed away.

as does Dutch and Ivan...Ivan is slowly growing out of the "pest" mode it seems, just a quick fly bye nipping at Dutch's face...the boys just fit well...
Been a surveyor for 25 years. Running into dogs of all breeds is part of the job. The one that scares me the most are the German Sheppards. They are so smart and loyal and athletic it's terrifying being on the teeth side of them.

I drove skidder for a couple years after school and one of the cutters I worked with had a timber wolf named timber. He would bring him to work with us. 20' of thick guage chain was pulled through the snow all day. He would entertain himself in the woods while we got the trees out. He would head for the truck when I killed the skidder at night. Really cool beast. Wolves and dogs may be of blood but they are not the same. It's like comparing Alaska to Pennsylvania.

Glad I experienced that one.

We have always had rescue dogs so Maryjane was our first golden doodle. We got her after our dog Penny died in hopes to help our senior dog BB live a bit longer. It worked BB lived an additional year with a little more spark all along teaching Maryjane her good habits. MJ is super smart. One of the smartest dogs I’ve ever had. After our BB died, we decided to get another goldendoodle. Arlo is our new pup and is still in training.

My wife and I have always had an agreement; no major changes (or purchases) without consulting the other one first. I've been a bit more of a stickler than she has.

One day I was sitting at my computer desk (fathom that, eh?), and the door opens up, and she says, "We have a guest." I'm wondering if I need to put some better pants on or maybe brush my teeth?

Nope, she'd independently brought home Joe. (*I changed his name from Joe to Joseph at the vets, because he had that much class; a true gentleman).

I addressed the breach of our agreement, but my protests lasted about 15 minutes, and he was bonded here for the rest of his time.

He'd go running down our long driveway, even right up until he was almost 19, ears waving behind him like sails. He loved to run.. God but that dog could make me smile and laugh.

i spent a lot of time dog sitting a labrdoodle, smart dog...well trained...i could work in my front yard with her off the leash and she absolutely would not cross the sidewalk even when there was a cat across the street...she would stand there barking her fool head off but not set a paw off the sidewalk...she was a garbage ninja though, could get exactly what she wanted out of the can without knocking it over

Lovely pups @SubGirl

My inlaws have a young English Springer Spaniel named Betty. She is a ball of energy but loving. Keeps MY 88yr old FIL in good shape trying to keep up with her. She has plenty of open space to burn off the energy while he keeps her in line with a whistle and treats. We will inherit her when she becomes to much. Hopefully later then sooner.

I’ve been wanting one for years. I ask everyone that goes out west to bring me back one but I guess they are a pita or maybe illegal to bring back. To tell you the truth I’ve never seen one only in pictures. Thought one would look cool hanging in my house. Kinda crazy right? Are they alive?

I also ask folks to bring me a rock back when they are going to visit somewhere. Been asking for them for years. I have rocks from all over the world. Silly I know but I love my rocks.

My wife has special rocks from many places.

When we go to the bush, the boys and I, or to the Yukon Territory, and I see interesting rocks, we bring them home to her.

My prospector/carpenter friend in the Yukon Territory carries a large single-hand-held hammer (I call it his Thor hammer) and he uses it to break open rocks, constantly looking to see what's inside them. Gold lust.

We are rock collectors ourselves. A great treasure to remember the times worth remembering. Leah and I are always adding to our succulent rock garden with the stones we bring back from our outings.

Finding sparkies is a pastime of mine. I like finding the ones that throw sparks when struck with carbon steel.

I have an Artists Bracket(fungi) that grew on top of the stump. It's the only one I've ever seen that completed the circle.

It was over 2ft in diameter and weighed near 20lbs when harvested. It took a month to dry it out in the bathroom with the heat on and a fan going 24/7. It shrank 6" and is really light now.

I started an lsd trip while painting it, but soon got bored and wandered off. I never did finish painting it.

Time to get my heavy head up and go snap a picture.
