Farg, broke a drive cable on my mower. Shop is backed up 3 weeks!! Holly crap....I mow every 3 days. I will either have to get a loaner from the shop or bite the bullet and manually push the thing......
Old school technology but I couldn't help but notice that they used scissors to trim the lawn at Osaka Castle in Japan when I visited in the 70's. You can use your trimming shears and it can be done sitting down.

One has to give them kudos and accolades for their efforts to communicate and appreciate how successful they actually are without speaking our language.
About the time of getting my last cat, I was going through many physical issues and was homebound mostly. The cat and I spent 7 days a week and mostly 24 hours a day together. My cat he was only 8 weeks old he lived about 11 years. We had good communication, it amazed me all the things he understood. From telling him that the wife is home and he would go and sit at the door waiting for her. I don't want to get long winded but I could give several examples of communication.

Netflix has show on domestic cats, it's quite interesting.

When I was young, the people who lived across the road from us. They would use scissors to cut some of their lawn, being meticulous takes effort.

Off topic a bit but you mentioned Japan...the Netflix show about cats had people who study cats in both countries say that the cats raised in Japan verse U.S. had cultural differences unique to their countries.

About a year ago I got custom inserts for my shoes. It drastically cut down on foot cramps. They made a mold of my feet and then made a custom support insert that I put in my shoes in place of the factory insole. $500 for the first set and then I was able to order 2 more sets at ONLY $250 each since they still had the original mold.

Still, at any price, it was worth it. I was having trouble hiking even 1 or 2 miles without suffering massive cramps. With these inserts I do 2 or 3 miles on downtown concrete and I am cool as ice.

OK, this brings about a question I have for all you old farts...... SHOES. What kind of shoes do you wear now in our...waning years. LOL

In recent years I have gone through foot menopause and my feet have changed. I wore Rockports for years when I was younger but at some point they just didn't do the job any more. Later, during my footopause I switched around and finally ended up wearing Brooks most of the time. Wore Brooks through most of my 60's. Now I am in my 70's and still changing.

I also have a bone spur on the top of my big toe joint that hurts constantly. It's a pretty simple surgery but I have put it off too long and now it is just worse. Anyway, because of that I need a "Wide Toe Box". Fortunately, a term that is becoming more popular in the shoe world. Still, some of my Brooks have become unwearable and I am looking around.

My goto shoe was the Brooks Adrenaline. Full support.

My PodDr suggested Brooks, New Balance and Asics.

I got these Asics and love them. A little bold but in Palm Springs they go, pretty much unnoticed. LOL

Finding any shoe in a WIDE is tougher than I thought.

Because of my spur, he suggested "Rocker Toe and "Rigid Sole". which is most running shoes.

I also wear Hey Dude casual shoes if I'm not going to be walking much. Without the inserts, my feet cramp in about 10 steps. These are the worst support shoes in the world. Still, they are SUPER comfy and have a lot of style. I have 22 pair of Hey Dude shoes. LMAO Mrs Ringo calls me Imelda Marcus. LOL

So, what kind of shoes do you wear for walking and everyday?
No particular brand as I purchase a fair amount of my footwear 2nd hand.
I have high arches and Sketchers are for some reason a no go for me.
I do purchase new insoles of different styles, put them in the shoes
and change them as needed.

Merrills, Born and Keen work well as I too had a toe spur (removed though)
and those brands have a wider toe box.Winter boots are Totes oddly enough
and mostly they are warm and have the same wide toe box.
Doc Martins and Wolverines for ladies.Etc., etc., etc...
I might be able to match your shoe collection haha.
I have waaay to many pairs of both boots and shoes.

REASON:
One can never have too many pairs of footwear! lol

Also, I have had several surgeries on both feet/ ankle
and it matters not how comfy a shoe is, eventually I'll
need to swap it out for another pair somewhere in the day.

Wouldn't that be the cats meow!

I wonder how much we could learn from an animal, to share our experiences, that would be incredible.
if you pay attention to your dog they will teach you how to be a better person...we have much to learn from out 4 legged friends...I prefer my boys company to humans...

on another note, I just got my perlite delivered...4 cubic feet will last me a lifetime...
