Sup ma niggas?

I don't belong to the club anymore as I demolished it all when I moved last year. I'm just checking in.

Any of my snail-mail buddies around? I miss the Kali.. *sniff*.

Current equipment: Single rubtub veg box with 2ft fluoro tubes, a single cfl for lateral light, and a small pc fan.

Current strains: White Widow, an unknown kickass bagseed (indica), and Blueberry.

Current plans: Big.

I'm glad to see this thread, its such a great way to get people started. It got me goin' ;).

I am lucky enough to have my cabinet inside a climate controlled (central ac/heat) room. The temps inside the cab don't get much above ambient, 70 at the bucket level - 75 directly under the reflector - 80 on the shelf where the ballast is.

Some leaves have shown signs of heat damage, but it is totally manageable.

Hey guys, cabs are lookin nice :joint:
I harvested my two largest NL's a few days ago. 57 & 50 days, or real close to that... I've still got a couple oz's from the last harvest that was harvested at 61 days. I didn't want to add another 2-3 oz of the exact same smoke to my stash so this should give me at least a little variety with the NL.

When these came down I added 3 new plants from seed into the mix hopeing for a new mother. They are AK, Kwik Kali bagseed, and a cross that I've been working on for about a year now. The cross is the only one showing yet and its a she :woohoo:

These have been hanging for about 4 days now, so the shrink is almost over...

Click to see the kind of resin these can make :yummy:

This cross of an indica called oregon90 bred by vision creator and a burmese pure stud from reeferman that I made and have been working with. I got two phenos, one indica which was harvested at 60 days and then this sativa pheno you see here which is pushing 82 days now - she looks like she'll be killer, but she's not being kept due to the long flowering time whereas the indica pheno is being kept, in fact I have a clone about 4 weeks into flower that I crossed back to another burmese pure stud for another generation.

is anyone running a 600w in thier cab, if so how much cfm what type of hood are you using to cool it to an adequate temp?

i run 600w hps in a c22.

i run a daystar a/c hood with 6 inch flanges. i run 6" insulated ducting straight from the hood to my 6" vortex fan and keep temps at 1-3 degrees above ambient.

whats the rule of thumb for 1kws in cab? how big should they be min on a 6" votex? I want to make a cab for a 1kw when i move into my new place while i feel it out and figure out if i want to unleash it on like a 6x6 area.

i wouldn't run a 1000w in a mills pride cab.. maybe something larger.. or like two c22's attached together to make one larger, more square-shaped space.

dunno about venting it i'd probably go with a strong six 6 (probably couldn't speed control? hell i dunno) or an 8..

***sorry all i double posted this, as a thread when i was really trying to just quick reply***

I have decided to grow in a C-24 cab and figured I’d start with the components of a closet first and then once I get the closet I can set everything up in it. So far I completed my DIY carbon scrubber and am currently going to wire my DIY cool tube, just have to drill a hole through the reducer/inducer for the connections, and am in the process of finding a cheap/er can-fan and I wanted to know:

-Can a blower be used in the same fashion as a can-fan regardless of CFM rating?

-Anything other than e-bay, that I can go to , to physically see a cheaper fan
*( NYC by the way)

*my scrubber is about 14” in length, 6 x 4 inducer/reducer, ¼” batting on inside around core and a layer on the outside so I have about 1- 1/4” of activated charcoal in there now, giving me about 10 or so inches of filtering space.

-What amount of CFM fan do I need to pull through the scrubber, past the bulb, past the ballast and to out take? With say about 9-10 feet of vent coil tubing.

-How many plants can fit in one of these C-24 cabs?

* I plan to seal the closet with weather stripping to create the negative pressure I have been reading about?

-What are the benefits if any of negative pressure environments for the plants?

Ofcourse all responses are appreciated, I am the same here as I am at the other sites I have subscribed to. This question has been posted elsewhere to get the maximum information possible. My name is the same as well at the other sites I speak of

id like to do a drobe grow, but im lost with the ventilation.
i cant cut any holes in the walls due to living in a rental property, so i cant bring any fresh air in.

i can only bring air in from the room and then vent back into the room. id imagine this isnt good due to heat being recirculated and no new co2 being intrioduced to the growspace.

anyone have any advice

not really, i live in a victorian house on the third floor with very thick walls, i dont want to go messing about smashing holes through brick walls i dont own. it would also be very difficult to hide.

I run my wardrobe intaking and exhausting into the same room. As long as the air in the room is free to exchange with the rest of the apartment you should have no problem with the room heating up too much. For me I have central ac/forced hot air so the air in the rooms is always being moved around the apartment as a whole. If you don't have forced air heat you can buy fans that go in the corner of a doorway to circulate air into and out of the room with the cabinet inside.

In fact I would always recommend to anyone with a big enough space to intake and exhaust back into the house. This way the heat that comes from the lamp keeps your heating bills lower and you aren't pumping out hot exhaust in the middle of winter.

As for co2 - you will be in the room too and you will be breathing o2 and excreeting co2. So you and your plants make a nice symbiotic environement. Even if you weren't there the plants would still have enough co2 to grow - it's just like how you don't die in a room because of lack of o2 - the room isn't air tight.

i suppose i can keep the window in my room open 24/7. i just need to find the money to buy all this equipment :s

im not sure whever to go with a 600w or a 400w. obviously the 600w is more expensive, but will the cost diffrence justify the return. how much yeild diffrence should expect between the two under optimimal conditions?

600 - 400 = 200 watts difference
optimal conditions = 1gram/watt = 200grams
most people = .5gram/watt = 100grams

but if you're concerned about heat the 400 will produce less heat.

I don't understand about the window, did you read what I wrote? do you live in a 1-room apartment or something? if you live in a 1 bedroom with a living, kitchen, and bathroom there'll be plenty of space to disapate the heat from your lamp, unless it is summer and you don't have AC this should not be a problem. Opening the window sounds like a security risk to me. I mean if you're window is always open in the dead of winter people take notice and also people can and do enter apartments through open windows.
