Mexican Varities

Mexican Varities

Hey elchiscas, What do you know about Mexican Red Hair? This list of Mexican Varieties I found - notes Red Hair as (Mexican x Punto Rojo Colombian) or Mexican x Panama Red pistils. Cannabiogen's Punto Rojo and Punta Roja (Panama x Punto Rojo) have red hairs during flowering. Charlie Garcia's mentor brought a 1960's Mexican x Colombian used in Destroyer. I found a Destroyer phenotype that cures orange / red what I'd call Red Hair.
Red Hair

Copalita Oaxacan - 1 (phenotype) no lemon aromas, CO-1 has earthy, cedar, frankincense aromas, zorrilla (skunk) in vegetation, cures to brown, gold, green.
Copalita Oaxacan - 4 may have hints of citrus, mostly spice, pine, cedar and longer flowering - 3 finger leaves, not easy to grow indoors. Copalita Oaxacan is P2 - one generation removed from the Highland Oaxaca fields. Cures to red.
Copalita Oaxacan - 4 is in late flower should have a decent harvest in December. Cures Red / Brown

This harvest hoping for:
[Copalita Oaxacan - 4 x ( Copalita Oaxacan -1 x Punto Rojo)
Copalita Oaxacan - 4 x Punto Rojo

I'm very pleased with flowering of (Copalita Oaxacan -1 x Punto Rojo) two females have better flowering structure than either parent. I haven't found a stable sex Copalita Oaxacan male.

Chimera's (1973 Highland Guerrero x Blueberry) uses a nice Guerrero Green.

Mexican varieties.

1. Acapulco Gold or Golden Guerrero, Guerrero, Mex.
2.-Highland Oaxaca Gold or Golden Earth Oaxaca, Oaxaca (perhaps the best variety of Mexico, buds often with gold and purple tones
3. Acapulco Red or Red Acapulco, Guerrero )
4. Acorn Pirul (only being named so by the size of the seeds that are usually very large,
5. Caca Mono, Chiapas (named after its resinous consistency, hard buds)
6. Borrego Cola, Sinaloa and Michoacan
7. Oxtail
8. Green or Green warrior Guerrero, Guerrero (much like the acapulco gold but is a bit larger)
9. Green or Green Guadalajara Guadalajara, Jalisco,
10. Jarochan sativa, Veracruz
11. Michoacana, Michoacán (usually find phenotypes sativa and indica)
12. Yellow Nayarit, Nayarit (nearly extinct variety of colors yellow \ gold in buds and leaves )
13. Red or Red Oaxaca Oaxaca, Oaxaca (sativa with red pistils)
14. Oaxaca sativa or Mexican Skunk (minty and fresh buds with orange or red pistils and prolonged effect)
15. Parral, Durango
16. Red Hair, red or red Hair, throughout the Pacific, Michoacan, Oaxaca and Sinaloa (sativa with red pistils, perhaps hybridizing with red dot Colombia or Panama network)
17.-Stone, Chihuahua (no data)
18 .-Popo Popo Gold or Golden, skirts Popocatepetl, Morelos, Puebla, State of Mexico and Mexico City (grown on slopes of the volcano)
19. People or Puebla
20. -Sonora Sativa Sativa or Hermosillo, Sonora
21.Tijuana Regular, Baja California Norte
22. Tower or Tower Violet Violet \ Purpura, Coahuila
23. Red or Yucateca Yucantan red, Yucatán (sativa like Jamaican but with red pistils)
24. Purple or Zacatecas Zacatecas Purpura, Zacatecas (sativa with purple buds)
25. Purple-Zihuatanejo, Zihuatanejo Purpura or Residence, Guerrero (sativa completely purple)
26. -Zorrilluda or Zorrilla, Zacatecas (sativa very odorous)
27.-Verde Limón, Oaxaca, Michoacan, Guerrero and Sinaloa (the most popular from Oaxaca floor, with a full smell and taste of lemon, currently seeds are achieved this variety in any state of the republic, pure or hybridized with red tip or Panama network)
28.- Holy Big Sur (California x Zacatecas Purple,

I'm sure there are more Mexican varieties.

Thanks for the kind words, Huesos - you make nice posts too! What are you smoking these days? For me its Punto Rojo, Punto Rojo, and Punto Rojo.

In the early vegetation stage, I'm growing Punto Rojo f2, ColJam f2, and Old Timer's Haze.

From the Mexican Varieties list, I'm interested in:

Acapuclo Gold,
Highland Oaxacan,
Guerrero Green,
Red Hair, and
purple varieties, Zacatecas, Zihuatanejo.

Bendiciones......

Bendiciones......

I recently cracked open a jar of Colombian Black. CB is more up and do things kind of herb. I found only one worthy female and crossed her to the Vietnamese Black. On citrus, I found one really citrus herb in the Lieu Hahn. True sativa cohibas are more in a blend of smooth inhale, flavors, and quality of high.

On Mexicans, some years back, I was in Zihuatanejo and found one they call la negra. Sadly, none of the seeds germed.

On Oaxacans, I only found one worthy male...pick below. He is from El Chischas 12 fingers Oaxacan via hermano Charlie and had his way with some females.

Beautifully grown and cured Blan-k-for. Oaxacans grow lots of leaves...hehehe

Does anybody know why the Oaxacan 79 was never released in pure form by Cannabiogen (CBG)?

People love the CBG Oaxacan 79 crosses - Mextiza, Red Snake

Hi Mex lovers, i wonder how is the seed size nowadays? Are the old lines like Oaxacan or Acapulco bigger?

Hola Amigos.....

Hola Amigos.....

On seed size, I did an experiment and only grew the tiniest seeds of various lots (SSH, NH, etc.) to test the hypothesis that tiny seeds equals more pure sativas. Thus far, tiny seed hold true on more pure haze line.

Nevertheless I believe its all relative. The best advise that I can follow is to study a particular line. Test and retest a line to see what she shows you. Step by step, you learn more and more about a particular line.

A friend recently sent me some Acapulco Gold seeds that were tiny. We will see what she teaches us.

Could someone translate this to Spanish?
"Hola Blank-l-for, you got green thumbs and grow lots of exotic varieties of cannabis very well. What are your favorite varieties for the best high? I spent much of the 1970's high on Colombian and Mexican, that's what I like. My all-time favorite is 1973 Maui Wowie, in mid-flower it smelled like a pine forest after a spring rain. I'd guess 1973 Maui Wowie genetics were Mexcian dominate, perhaps Mexican Red Hair ~ (Oaxacan x Punto Rojo)."

Roms, Mexican and Colombian pure sativa NLD seed size is the same today as they were in the early 1970's.

Pure sativas should yield seeds all the same size. Mature seeds from small mature buds on lower branches will be smaller than mature seeds from the tops. Same variety, mature seeds from a small indoor plant will be 15% smaller than seeds from a 20 foot plant grow in the tropics.

SamS noted seed / calyx size was relative to the calyx size of the female flowers. Does this imply that an open pollination of several NLD and WLD Mango Haze female phenotypes results in small seeds being NLD dominate and bigger seeds are WLD dominate? Probably so, however if you select and pollinate only one Mango Haze female seed size should be uniform, with slight seed size variation based on slight variations in calyx size within the plant - top to bottom.

I smoke the tops and seed a couple of bottom branches with pollen on an artist paint brush. I observe, seed size is uniform, (but color and markings are different) from a NLD sativa female pollinated with different males.

Caveat, I've never seen an indica seed. Indica / sativa hybrids like NepJam - Highland Nepalese x 1985 Jamaican Blue Mountain have bigger seeds than NLD sativa seeds.

Always great too see you post

I love both your current smoke and grow list

I see your interest with Mexican Red hair , I would contact Sams or Reeferman I think they can shed some light . If I recall in the past there have been several post connecting Sk#2 and Mexican red hair true or not I don't know . These seeds were available by Sams threw sacred seeds catalog

The Punto rojo is Red point , no relation to Mexican or red hair . Translation or just certain recollections and references bring up varying points and opinions .

It's my belief this Mexican Red hair wasn't a specific strain .

About that Oaxacan 79 I believe Charlie didn't release it pure because it was gifted from a icmag brother

Best wishes

Hola Blan-k-flor ¿cómo estás compadre? ¡Impresionantes esos cogollos!

Hi satva, here you have the translation :tiphat:

Robert Connell Clarke wrote this about the Mexican strains seed size.
The only ones I have seen were identical to common birdseed to me. Pretty big size, ovoid in shape and unmottled light brown or grey.

Seeds from most Mexican strains are fairly large, ovoid, and slightly flattened with a light colored grey or brown, unmottled perianth. Smaller, darker, more mottled seeds have appeared in Mexican marijuana during recent years. This may indicate that hybridization is taking place in Mexico, possibly with introduced seed from the largest seed source in the world, Colombia. No commercial seeded Cannabis crops are free from hybridization and great variation may occur in the offspring. More recently, large amounts of hybrid domestic seed have been introduced into Mexico. It is not uncommon to find Thai and Afghani phenotypes in recent shipments of Cannabis from Mexico.

Hi Ahortador, how you doing bro?
I already saw the video, definately that kind of plants looks pretty sativa to me like the old mex ladys ... try to check the prev page I'd post some photos about a landraces from tetela del volcan town just in the popocatepetl vulcano, in my opinion that lines are related to Oxacan type pretty accurate form...

Hi Elchischas :tiphat:

I hadn't seen the Tetela post before :thank you: Really very beautiful old reminiscent sativa plants. I don't know the situation in Puebla, but if there is not a strong pressure by the narcos introducing their fast growing "chaparritas" or "Talibanas", perhaps that explains why those beautiful sativas ares still growing there.

Best regards to everybody.

Possibly some of smallest seeds I have seen from Colombian Gold,

darkest color and small kiwi shaped from Burmese. . . if memory serves correct also dark seed from Chocolate Thai ?

Some of largest were the Pahari Farmhouse line from RSC's first offerings.

I have seen many Mexican from past with medium to large seeds.

Thanks for the translation ahortator!

1970's Mexican seeds were and still are, as you say Mexican NLD seeds are ovoid in shape and solid light brown or grey color. Colombian NLD seeds are dark brown with black mottling. I crossed Copalita Oaxacan x Punto Rojo and some seeds are ovioid light brown / grey color and some are dark brown with black mottling.

Chimera's 1973 Highland Guerrero Green x Blueberry has two types of seeds (Mexican) ovioid light brown / grey color seeds and mostly (Dutch hybrid) dark brown with black mottling seeds. Here's my question - If I grow only the ovioid light brown / grey seeds, do I have a better chance of finding a 1973 Highland Guerrero Green phenotype? I'm not sure if the growth structure and the high of the 1973 Highland Guerrero Green will follow what the seed looks like, especially since Blueberry is a poly-sativa/indica hybrid?

Either way, that's my plan for isolating a few 1973 Highland Guerrero Green phenotypes.

Good thinking satva. The blueberry male used is Thai dominate so not sure what that means. I too wanted the pure Guerrero but the sum of the two parts may be greater than the pure eh?

Purple Thai was supposed to up there in psychedelic activity, plus the Oaxacan. I think it was a purple thai used anyways. Could go bother Chimera about it, hehe.

Yeah large seeds often (but not always) means old genetic, i see it with Pakistan or Thaï! The few numbers Mexican seeds i have are particulary large. Chiapas origin. I think try to pop them early 2017. Au fait merci encore MisterD! Aurais-tu plus d'info concernant un village ou une vallée d'origine?

Btw i wonder if Mayan or other antic really know cannabis? Not in history books from what i litlle know. Maybe the question should be posed with mago shaman?
