I have a question for y'all but first I would like to say that I have used full strength Maxi on seedlings many times without any burn or other issues, doing it right now in fact.

Have any of you switched from Lucas to Maxi or more importantly from Maxi to Lucas and how did you feel the Lucas did compared to the Maxi? I have a couple gallons of GH Flora and I think I am going to use switch to Lucas to use it up and I was wondering how people thought it compared to KISS.

I've also put full strenght lucas on seedlings, w no ill effects, altho i wouldnt suggest it purely because it's wasteful & unnecessary, i've used lower dosages & other things at low doses (canna start etc) and seen similar results

also i've used lucas and maxi back and forth for a long while now, i think i prefer the lucas using 6/12 and 8/16 micro/bloom. i like the h2o quick solubility of the liquid ferts, and dont mind the slightly higher cost.

i'm considering goin w jacks & calnit....... any threads about that method yall cn suggest to me?

:thank you:

Do i still put a hole like a hempy bucket? Yea i have considered coco but was told its kind of a novice medium. Im just wrapping up my 1st yr growing so i think i might be ready for a new challenge.

Just buy some Smart Pots and a bag of Canna, hand water or Blumats. Too easy! Some people do use Coco Hempys.....but not I

It's supposed to rise. That's why you add-back plain water, non-pH adjusted. Without a full pH swing you won't allow the plants to take full advantage of all the elements available.

Got a ppm, tds or ec meter? You don't even have to dump your res. So simple.

Look up "Ask Lucas" on the net and read the entire thread. Pay particular attention to the no-dump res maintenance information.

Wow, this thread is a monster but so awesome :) I grew in coco for a few years and never liked the A+B style nutes I can't wait to KISS!:woohoo:

maxi at 7 g per gal generally ph's itself down to about 6.8 in my tap water, i often go down to 6.2 or 5.8 from there.

i'd go half strength for seedlings (3.5g pr gal) full strength veg & bloom (7g per gal)

how stable is the maxiblooms ph in tap water, would i need to keep adjusting it every time i water?i use a 5gallon bucket,no airpumps, waterpumps, and just handwater,my tap ppm is 170~,so is it stable in terms of ph?
It's stable enough that I basically just follow a "recipe" each time I mix up a batch, and it comes out to within +/- 0.2 of the target pH each time (I still test it each time just for peace of mind). Tweaking from there is super easy, and I often don't bother.

btw amazing thread,iv never fully read a thread this long, but im trying,im in page 19 lol.i love icmag :)

would this be good,100% coco,from seed,tapwater

per gallon:

veg

week:0-1 1/4 teaspoon maxi
week:1-2 1/2 teaspoon maxi
week:2+ 1 teaspoon

im worried about burning seedlings,so how long should i feed 1/4 and 1/2 strenght?

can you read the plant ? I also started at 1/4 from last week with maxi gro...nothings happen then i bumped 1/2...a little change..just little more greener on the leaves but still in def...and decided to bumped to full strenght, now it looks real good. read plant is very important.

BTW my seedlings are three weeks old.

happy gardening.

so a 1/4 strenght even for 1 week old seedlings in coco is a little low?half strenght,1/2 a teaspoon per gallon, those ppm's just seem a little high, especially for seedlings,

my exp. has led me to believe that until cotyledons start to yellow, seeds do not technically NEED any nutes at all,
I usually dont feed anything till seedlings show the def first , from there i start with 1/4.
:yeahthats
what im talkin about.
but waiting for this to happen may not actually be the best method, if ya wait too long first set of leaves can begin yellowing as well.

i give them some nutes as soon as they are transplanted into cups from beginning in peat rooter starts or rockwool cubes,
maxibloom half strength, or lucas half strenght (4micro/8 bloom) or something more specialized like canna start if i have it lying around (which i do). also i give them innoculations of beneficial bacterias early on in cups (subculture M & B, plant success, humbolt mayan mycorizae, im not picky, altho im sure there are better and best ones, i use what i have....)

but since we are in the kiss thread.
ill keep it simple

half strength is good for lil seedlings, quarter strength is prolly fine also
either way you are conserving nutes by not goin full strength from the get go.

Simple aeroponic question

Simple aeroponic question

I have kind of a silly noob question. So I'm running this aeroponic mum bucket I have with the same mix of maxi and silica I have been using. 5-6g of maxi per gal and 5-7ml of pro silicate per gal. My question is should I be adding this nute mix every time or is there a point where I just need to add plain water for a "flush". I'm pretty new to aeroponics, and when i ran it as a cloner we ran a weak cloning solution in it. Just need to clear this little bit up. In theory I want them growing as fast and as much as they can. Hopefully be cranking out a dozen or so clones a week. So the mums might be good in a nute mix all the time. Idk looking for some experiences
