The place I buy my seeds posts about this all the time…to use just Maxibloom. 1 cup for veg in a 50 gallon res, and 2 cups in flowering. It seems that in the past couple of years it has become easier to mix….but way harder to find in Canada? My hydro store says there are issues with their wholesale companies getting it in Canada.
Is there a similar product that is a copycat of Maxibloom?

I've been using MaxiBloom or products similar for years. I never bought into all the collection of bottles many seem to think you need. The ingredients in 90% of all commercial plant foods come from the same factories. It's not as if these bottled fertilizer lines are making the calcium nitrate, potassium sulfate, monopotassium phosphate, etc... It's purchased in bulk and then mixed. Some don't even mix it themselves but contract with companies that will mix and bottle it for you taking care of all the manufacturing and packaging. It's no different than other industries.

I’ve used MaxiBloom since I started growing in 2008 and have never needed to change a thing. All I add is silica, CalMg and baking soda to raise my PH and I also grow in 100% perlite hempy buckets and 315CmH. I keep is simple, always have and always reap great rewards

I recently switched from maxibloom to Jack's 10-30-20. Anyone got experience with this what's your regiment? I've been using it in veg and flower. For veg it's mostly fine. I alternate back and forth with miracle gro all purpose. But for flower I seem to somehow get too. Much nitrogen and not enough phosphorous.

I've been switching to maxi for the end of flower cuz the issues above. Any advice? I want to keep it to the kiss/hempy school of, one mix for the whole run.

I'm only going up to about 400-450ppm mostly keep it in the 350 range. But as you can see the tip burn creeping the plants hit their limit... but at the same time clawed nitrogen leaves, and I get calcium deficiencies and phosphorus. Only thing I had to worry about with maxi was magnesium here and there needing a boost.

EDIT....to further elaborate...A level teaspoon of Maxi is around 7 grams. 7 grams is the actual 8/16 Lucas...except I believe with a little more Cal and Mag. I believe it was Dongle69 that started the idea..The plants LOVE it!!!!

So.... it's safe to say, it's got what plants crave?

I was the Moderator that made that thread a sticky, and I know Ioni personally, so I believe I can speak for him. Yes, Maxibloom has what plants crave. Anywhere from 5-7 grams.
MaxiGro for veggers works equally as well.

If you don't mention the quality of the herb and start posting photos instead of talking about effects and flavor you've done the exact opposite of marketing.

essentially you are buying a very similar amount of nutrients weather it be powder or liquid for a similar amount of money. shipping liquid is certainly more expensive yet don't be fooled into the "I'm paying for water" as you have to add in the water later if you don't.

Before this thread I was mixing 5 parts of my own design. I used a 15-0-0, and a 0-27-17, and a 10-60-10, and a 15-30-15, and kool bloom, all in my flower room. So I really appreciate this thread. I’ve used this tek since 2010.

What I’d like to know is if anyone has tryed Maxi Grow? Could I use it for veg the same way I use the Maxi Bloom in flower?

As long as your errors are on the side of underfeeding, you allow a full and healthy pH swing, and your environment is decent, cannabis grows amazingly tasty cannabis with simply Maxibloom, epsom and a touch of calcium acetate.

I have very fond memories of savoring the tastes and aromas it produces, while toking 1-hitter batloads overlooking Buena Vista.

You can just use the same nutrients for veg and flower if you're lazy. Cannabis is very easy.

'hard water' means higher mineral content (primarily CA and MG) - that'll be reflected in a higher ppm/EC reading.

there are other elements/ions/hoopajoobs that make up your ppm reading, so it's not like saying you have '74ppm of CA/MG' in your tap, tho.

i probably wouldn't default to adding calmag/epsom in every feeding, but your tap is low enough, some plants may need it the same as if you were using RO.

aight so lucas formula can be used here without using RO am I right?

i know this is an old post, but wanted to go on record not saying you are wrong at all what so ever, but it does matter now in 2024 with these high powered LEDS and if you are doing k.i.s.s method with coco, maxibloom and tap water. you will run into nute lock out due to more calcium ions being present in relation to mag. it leaves you having to buy r.o water and epsom salts because you dont know how much calcium is in your tap,. its hard to get the strict ratio correct... which kind of makes this method more then stupid simple. works great with soil though!

The number one reason to use r/o filtered water is because of how it affects the pH swing.

R/o filtered water is a neutral pH and does not change the pH of your setup. Adding r/o to a nutrient solution hydrates and dilutes what is existing, without changing factors affecting the pH itself. (Yes, increasing the water amount does change pH because there are fewer nutes at that point, not because of anything coming in with the r/o water)

The pH swing is literally one of the key elements of having the Lucas Formula work properly. Without using r/o, you're are on a jungle safari looking for a unicorn. (The exact info on how "Your" tap water responds to the nutrients this week. Tap generally changes throughout the year as well, so lovely additional challenges to muddle your view of what's going on in your setup.)

K.I.S.S. is stupid simple with r/o. Try it and see for yourself.
