do you guys think it's fine to sex in 3 gal smart pots or is 5+ necessary? i have a bunch laying around. gonna be running some bodhi strains next year for a little backyard grow here in SoCal. nothing too crazy, just gonna get my feet wet. maybe 12 plants (3 rec holders) in 45 gal smart pots and a couple in holes or raised beds. will most likely pop seeds in late april.

also what are people using for popping seeds and their starts? can i just plant straight in FFOF? i'm not even sure what i'm going to do for my final soil mix. i wouldn't even know where to begin sourcing quality amendments here in SoCal. i think i just say screw it and buy a pallet of FFOF.

sorry for the questions or if a lot of these have been answered i'm still reading thru this thread and others. i have a lot of info to absorb. i just wanna do things right.

If you saw how many different bins of subpar my friend is sitting on you might reconsider. .
what did he grow? none of my seed plants last year were "sub-par" quality, everything tested above 20%thc

Not sure yet what seeds I'm going to run.. but the bodhi stuff seems to be doing great.
I'm doing all seeds this year again. mostly Bodhi, but might try some other things.

been said before but Seeds are better for growing the biggest plants, more vigor and fewer potential problems. plus there's not that many elite cuts which actually interest me. I would find my own keepers but my 24 plant limit makes it hard to save moms.

Just as disappointing indoors. This was the biggest upset of 2015 for me. Total waiste of time and $$$. :moon: to the Tangie.

the tangie is only good for making bho.

i bought packs of Satsuma (Cali-O x Snow Lotus), Citrus Sap (Tangie x GG4), and Orange Glue (Orange Cookies x GG4) . I'm looking for loud orange/citrus terps with good yield and potency. might pop them all in the spring and just grow the biggest female from each pack.

I'm not naming seed companies but I will say there was no bohdi seeds. And my friend definately grew giants, but most of them got rained on , that's a problem for me. I can only grow 48 this year, I'm can't take that chance. You got incredibly lucky I guess if all your 24 seed plants were better than most elite cuts.

I would say with a quality breeder, you can have 60-80% quality plants. If one pops many more seeds than needed, and makes quality selections, you can have 75-90% quality plants. Not saying top elite clone only quality either. Then take 50% away as males.

Clones produce 100% quality cuts in theory. However you also have to take many more cuts than needed, and cull the runts, virus infected, and duds. So really your looking at 75%-90% quality cuts, in a quality, non infested garden. However, those plants will have elite quality flowers.

All these new county numbers and rules..... Anybody else feel like putting on their cowboy hats this season and going all wild west? Might be the last year.

Just found this thread and read up to page 5 the Tom Hill that everyone is asking questions too, all of his posts are deleted. Do I bother continuing reading questions with no answers? Does someone else pick the thread up later? 840 pages of unanswered questions due to a deleted account? I was very interested in his mix and techniques, If one knows of another thread like this please post the link.

Edit: I see the last pages are active.

Just getting started trimming the kindness from bodhi. Extra frosty huge tight buds that have a nice spicy trainwreck funk. Don't know the weight but the plants got big. They were kind of early too, first week of October - Might have to find another pack!

with plant counts its hard to justify the variables of individual seeds. i've never understood how seed vigor trumps the consistency of a clone - most of which are prized for their vigor, yield, potency, appearance and nose.

blue dream, as always, will be ran big and hard. might be hitting pono up for the jaeger and orge.

Blue Dream sucks.Growing only Blue Dream shows no passion IMO. Nobody wants blue dream except the east coast. If all of your garden is BD, then most of your garden never finds it's way into clubs in cali. If you want your product in clubs, you need something unique, or something quality. For example, Harborside wouldn't touch my Blue Dream, Jack frost, GSC, Gelato because they are stuffed full of name brand herb. They contract out those strains. They were looking for my Goji and ancient.

Seeds are kind of like a lottery. Every bean you pop, you have a chance of that being the next elite out there. 2016 is going to be a bean popping palooza.

No passion?? Lol, this guy

Just my two cents, thanks for following me around and continuing to be a hater....... Jesh. Can't even state what I think without some hater hating. Get a life dude, I clearly said imo, and stated why through personal experience. :tiphat:

Next time maybe you could show your point of view, and share why you think that is better. Instead of being a hater. That's really up to you though.

Blue dream gardens are too easy to grow, and get good results. I enjoy a challenge while growing, and variety. I could personally never grow a full garden of Blue Dream. I don't think I could monocrop at all, too boring.

I do hope everybody else grows blue dream, leave a huge hole in the market for me.

Passion - a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something

I could not have a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for a blue dream garden. Like I said, IMO only.

Following you around? Ha! Yea, get over yerself brother.

I just wasn't digging your dig into trisierra's comment.

Man, I think I found out what's wrong here. It wasn't a personal dig at anybody. If anything, it was a dig at blue dream. Come on man, after years of you following me around and making troll like comments, it's time for all that to end. Truce?

Sure 50 - good seeing you back to your old form.

Blue Dream is the first thing off the shelf in the clubs, I would know as I'm a partner in several. I don't buy club-buyer hype, and I don't buy Harbourside hype. Blue Dream is brand recognition without the brand. The reality is very good herb is what sells and Blue Dream is consistently very good herb, which is exactly why its been around for so long.

An often overlooked facet of this discussion is what can produce indoor quality when grown far beyond its original intent outdoors; and Blue Dream has consistently been the answer from nearly every one of this forums original members, Tom, Nommad, Fil...

And yes you are correct: popping seeds is like winning the lottery - the odds are stacked so highly against you its nearly impossible to win. I'm not here to win the lottery.
