Michael did not elaborate on the issues of the fish oil. I will ask him next time he is around. He did send me this though as an email. "I have seen fish compost that had a pH of 5 and was so full of salt and sulfur that I wouldn't use it." I would imagine the right fish compost could be good. At this point in time the mix needs to be finalized so people can get it in their holes and start amending or growing cover crops.

I have some samples of the fish compost used with the Coots mix and will send some in to see what the results are. But sending it in now and awaiting the results, then having Michael do a Rx on it takes time. So Malibu compost it is for now and maybe the fish can come in at a later date. No sense shooting from the hip and changing everything that has been balanced correctly for now. Hope that helps.

interesting to read about coots mix with rare earth. malibu compost sounds expensive. i plan on using the diestel structure for my humus with 1/3 peat and 1/3 lava. having purchased a couple hundred yards from rare earth this season im not sure i trust them to correctly mix the dry ingredient into a homogeneous mix. just gonna get down with a tractor and have them mix the base.

I attended a sap analysis conference this past weekend and loads of people were interested in your work with Rare Earth. The word is spreading, thanks for everything.

where do you find out about these events! i need a crash course in sap analysis that can be done in the field on the spot.

this offseason im breaking out the bobcats and we are going to scrape the norcal blend off all the terraces and dump it somewhere and plant it with oats and other cover crops to see if we can leech out some of the excess PKs. i dont have plans on going full term for 2015 so i can let it just sit and cook and see what happens.

Mixing the ingredients seems to be a problem no matter where you purchase your soil. The soil yards are definitely interested in a slam, bam, thank you sam scenario. This has been discussed with Rare Earth on several occasions. Into a mixer will go all the amendments, rock dust, etc. added together and mixed. Then the main mix will be spread out thin, just a foot deep or so. At that point an employee will hand spread with a seed spreader all the goodies on top. Kind of like putting sprinkles on a freshly baked cake. Then in comes the big equipment for an hour's worth of mixing.

I do not agree to just dumping all the amendments in a pile on the main ingredients and hope that the tractor operator mixes it correctly. I am going to supervise the first couple of batches and instruct them in the proper way to mix it up. They are going to mix in 20 yard batches, so the mix will not be so large as to cause a problem. Hope this info helps.

good info bamboo. the peeps at rare earth are real professional and courteous. when i had them mix up base aoc recipe they said if it did well they would make more and market it. i never got back to them, cool to see you going all out. i think with diestel as humus and sourcing all the dry amendments separately you can get the full coot mix for $130 per yard. curious to see what they will charge for yours.

Curious about your list of micros bamboo. You listed Borax then the rest of the list was actual elements. Was the list meant to be Boron, Manganese, Copper and Zinc or Borax, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate and Zinc Sulfate?

I will pm you with any future events. I will also get you the contacts that I know who involve the people that throw these events. Next big event is the AcresUSA conference. I am actually going to start a thread on conference dates and places, just need to get my msg's up.

I also learned some amazing information on spraying chemical fungicide on plants that I know you wont like. I will explain more thoroughly and send you a pm when I do. However, it changes the way the plant grows inside the cells for 4 weeks and possibly forever. I will make sure I msg you on these events in the future.

Best money I have spent in my grow career was attending this conference, blew my mind talking with John Kempf one on one for hours. Still can't sleep because of it.

That's my AlienDawg Twin Towers cut, very similar to what people call the "Ether" cut. Sprouted from Obsoul's F1 release...

Got lazy on typing the Sulfate after Mn, Cu and Zn. Good eye, ;)

Rootwise - you should have cation tape around those nugs. That way nobody stands underneath them and breaks their neck on a falling nug. Great work! Is it bad that when I see nugs like that I imagine girls in skimpy underwear using those nugs as pillows in a pillow fight?

Took me a sec to realize that was a typo and not some fancy tape that emitted cations.
