I found 3 budworms today. Only noticed because a bud's entire pistil growth had gone brown. I dug in and found a bastard chewing away. Gave the girl a neem+ksil+limonene (lemongrass) foliar as soon as the plant went into the shade. Not happy spraying this far into flower, directly on flowers. The branches were all bending something fierce, but I expect she'll have a better structure in the morning for it.
Find a product that has Bacillus thuringiensis. The two products I see out here are Thuricide and Monterey Bt. Both have the subspecies kurstaki. I've used Thuricide for the past two years and it is very effective. Only have to spray 3 times during the late season. Don't worry about residues on your flowers either, the product is effective in really low dilutions. If I remember right the ld50 for caterpillars is in the nanograms.

OK guys is it too late to hit my girls with CalMag or similar? I'm ~5wks into flower & the bud rot is coming at me...that or I thought Actinovate...thoughts?

I used bt thurgenusis earliest. It was smelly and blue. It doesn't last as long as Monterey garden spinosad. Spinosad has No odor. It's a bacterium. It's safe around kids, let's and beneficial insects.

I've some bt on hand and ready to go. Gonna spray in the morning. That hemp pest and disease book has been a great resource. Its notes on budworms and neem indicates neem works slowly on budworms but works as an antifeedant.

Those colors are simply carotenoids in the leaves like New England maple trees. Trim those buds and you'll lose all that eye candy color. Makes for a pretty picture. Means nothing really though.

Option, your post seems a strange reply and I don't quite know how to respond. I'm aware of what causes red in leaves, I never implied it had anything to do with anything but being a gorgeous plant. I don't know why you'd point that out in a quote.

I'm sorry, I was just skimming the thread for all these beautiful big plant pictures from everyone. I had to go back and look at your last post. I don't have very much experience with mold problems. I have been growing for many, many years, and I have only had mold problems twice. I'm not counting my screw ups while drying after harvest. I grow plants only for quality head stash, so I keep fertilizers and water to a minimum. I tend to get more color, less green chlorophyll, smaller buds, higher resin density, less mold, and increased potency. Check out my signature.
My only advice would be to flush the soil with water, and let them dry out between waterings. I let my leaves droop a bit before I water. Better yet, grow strains with smaller buds. My best bud comes always come from the shittiest looking plants. Go figure?! It seems to work for me. I understand that this is very unconventional advice.
On the other hand, OptionDork may have a valid point, the color alone is not an indicator of quality genetics. I actually got rid of that cutting after I smoked some, and turned the rest to hash. But I'm not much of an indica lover. I usually like it best as hash. I like powerfully up, positive, energetic, and trippy sativa dominant strains. I don't like feeling tired after I smoke.
Everyone has their own methods and preferences, and we are richer for being able to see them at this site.

I live in an area that has 100% humility at night and early morn. Actinovate works, but you have to have it built up in your leaf biology. I don't think it will stop an outbreak. Green cure maybe? I find that once the PM or bud rot begins, its very hard to stop. Also make sure you don't have caterpillars munching on the buds, because the bud will rot after the caterpillar damage. Good luck.
Also, raise your K levels.

I found more bud worms today. Fucking awful this late into bloom. My hands were a sticky mess once I finished checking all the buds. I'm getting a bottle of spinosad immediately.
