McDank brix mix is a peaceful product; they make it or at least it's there name on the package, so you probably just have to find something similar to do ya good!

Lol,

That was classic DD,

It's true through, sometimes they can't see the forest through the trees. I mean there could be spaceships hovering over head watching them and they'd have no clue :)

Recently Peaceful Valley has been messing up with my orders, after 2 weeks of no shipping conformation I call their customer service and it turns out the Brix Mix I ordered 2 weeks back they have discontinued, forever.

Where can a guy purchase Brix Mix? Or does anybody know a recipe for it?

McDank, I think there's a discussion of Brix Mix substitutes on this very thread, TH told about his preferred substitute, IIRC. Involved Earth Juice Catalyst and something else. Anyone help?

I second that DD. I truly couldn't have been nearly as successful without the knowledge attained from the ones above and others that believe and share back tips learned while doing our 'growing large' thing.

...

A couple pages back, I think tom hill recomended a brix mix substitute, because all you big guys bought out pvfs. It was Earth juice catalyst and EJ grow, mixed well below specified and fed via foliar. I went to the grow store, and ended up with Ej catalyst and some GH (general organics line) bio-weed which is cold processed kelp. Is this gonna do mostly the same thing with the molasses from the catalyst, and the growth hormones from the kelp?
Thanks in advance

I couldn't find the original post... I think it may have been edited or something, I don't remember it (I could be wrong). Oh Wait I found it...

Consider Earth Juice grow and catalyst a decent route until they restock Brix Mix. Dilute it well below recommended strength. You should be able to reach pH 5.8 or so without any other pH mods, as this stuff is highly acidic. The wheat malt in the catalyst is very high brix and molasses is there too. I would consider it a very fine temporary alternative. -T

Great thread everyone (I'm on page 140 right now), the brix mix substitute was within the last 10 pages (for me).

Whatsup all I've been a indoor grower for a while and was thinking of making the switch outdoors this summer. Was really wondering if yall could point me in the right direction as to what kinda water pump would be best and a list of all the things that you can think of that would be needed.
-Thanks TT

i recommend the 1.5 hp honda, its the best!

but yeah good luck, if you decide to go big outside come back to this thread in the spring, it will be lively with fellow big tree growers!

We row plant and run a strong wire at crown height and use that as the top attachment for our gh netting. We don't need any staking when done this way.

That hog ring stapler that I mentioned previously comes in real handy with this system... easy

Good lookin girls Easy! what do yall think about soil verses just stickin them in ground. The delima I'm at is i dont want to buy three four hundred dollars worth of soil if i would be just as good if not better simply stickin them in the ground. Guess I'm lookin for any alternatives to fox farm soil that isn't gunna cost me an arm and a leg.

Around what time of year would you suggest cracking next years Haze beans at about 31 north? It just got cold here a few days ago if that helps. Thanks this thread is unreal!

Check out Fafards line of soil. Its not marketed towards MJ growers, so obviously the price is cheaper. Most of they're mixes usually come with a mild starter charge, allowing you to amend it how you see fit.

I would suggest a middleweight mix of theirs. Lots of options to choose from to suit your needs.

it will NOT be better "simply sticking them in the ground" instead of putting them into a rick mixture of good soil, compost, ammendments, perlite, etc. Of course, this thread is about growing the best and biggest plants possible... Step one (as can be found early in the thread- as it was merged with a thread called "Tom's Soil") is an appropriate soil mix.

u can, of course, gig a hole (and gopher proof ot if required) and fill it with a great soil mix rather than using above ground pots or planters. But simply transplanting to the ground is unlikely to produce the results most visitors to this thread are looking for. Unless of course your native soil is as high quality as the soil we spend lots of time, energy, research and money to work with.

The soil mix with the lowest cost vs highest quality I have come accross has been 50/50 greenwaste compost (some are MUCH better than others) plus perlite. A simple pre-mixed dry grow ammendment added to this will up the ante considerably.

IN January, I will begin to take soil samples and have them analyzed in order to compare last year's used soil to a fresh batch of last year's mix (which I am very happy with). Based on the results, I will figure out how to ammend last year's soil to fresh bagged levels.

if you are intending on using last years soil, i think it would be very beneficial to soak the soil with a few nice compost teas from now on.......

i have all my soil from last year mounded, a while back i added a bunch of leftover nutes i had laying around. recently i started throwing some teas at it once n a while. i dare say my veggies will be explosive this coming season.

once i complete a couple books i have on hand and get my hands on a microscope i hope to be much more helpful regarding soil.
