The Straights of Hormuz are only 21 miles wide at the narrow point and international waters begin at 12 miles. It's mostly Iranian water. Escorting tankers for a while will stop that game. Maybe they will need to vaporize a few of those Iranian patrol boats doing the provocation. Iranians must figure that causing stress in the oil delivery chain will spike oil prices and make some payback for the economic sanctions.

I say we just do a quick sweep and sink Iran's Navy. We can't have them reaching the Atlantic ocean once they have a nuclear arsenal. I'm sure they already have low yield nukes that will make Manhattan or a good chunk of London uninhabitable.
