Well - if its gone 'underground' as you say - then it must be in retreat - and as the world breeds it out - and considers it 'unacceptable' in all nations - not just in our few western liberal egalitarian democracies - then you might get a handle on it - but you should really start attacking it where it is most prevalent - and that is in India - by most accounts - then work your way down the list of most racist nations - till you get near to the very bottom where we are - and by then it most probably won't be an issue at all - if it still really is - that is -

People get called 'Fatty' or 'Skinny' - or 'Four Eyes' - or 'Ginger' - or whatever silly names of a racial or non-racial nature -

If someone is dark then they have been called 'Darkie' - and if someone is white they are being called 'Whitey' - people can be rude/crude and nasty no matter what they see as your 'type' or affliction - personally I don't let mere words/silly names hurt me - and people should toughen up a bit - because the world isn't all a safe space echo chamber - where you can only hear what you want to -

So if people are getting outraged at being called 'racist' directly or indirectly - I would just say: 'Sticks and stones will break your bones - but names will never hurt you' - just like Mum taught me when I was first called a 'Pikey' - lol

I'm not picking on 'our' countries, i know racism doesn't really have borders....

I'm trying to argue one little aspect of the situation.... people getting outraged at being 'labelled' racist, which is usually indirect or not directed at them at all, and they just infer that they are being called racist.
And comparing it to the problems that many minorities actually have to deal with because it has been a huge part of human behaviour/culture for millennia.... to think that it's all done with and that us humans are beyond devolving back into it when we are only so recently acknowledging that IT IS WRONG and still has tentacles deep in our cultures, is a bit premature.

We saw the retreat in Charlottesville.

I don’t live in India nor is it on this forum. With trumps visit, their problems were highlighted. I haven’t seen enough coverage to give a informed opinion.. Looks like Modi could be doing more. Trump should have brought it up. It just didn’t suit his agenda of getting his ass kissed. It was complacent racism or religious phobia on his part.

My nick name is a derivative of my last name. If I told you, you'd laugh. In adulthood, I don't hear it anymore other than from a couple close friends. Coming from them, it's almost a term of endearment eventhough it's quite insulting.
