Stoner's Spring '06

Some new girls in town.

These are the 4/20 cuttings, they rooted just as the tempetures hit growth optimums of 30C/85F.

They had a couple weeks to root in 10cm/4" planters and are now in 15cm/6" planters.

Looking fine guys.

I have my four Summer LUI's ready to go.

I am making arrangements to donate the remainder of the clones to a nearby med users group. With a bit of luck, we will be seeing lots of LUI this Fall.

Hey Stoner..... I've read many different times that if you regulate a plants photoperiod in 12/12 for a month to 6 weeks that you can place the plant outside in the middle of the summer and she will continue to flower. Even with the long days and short nights. I've been doing this and now my girl is in the yard permanently. But I can't stop worrying if It's really gonna work... She's been outside for a week now and i think she's still doing fine. What's your take on this? Although maybe it's just paranoia, but I think she's slowing down. Hard to tell in just a week. She's at about 40 days now. (The pics are from 30 days. I'll get some pics today and post.

These 2 pics were taken today. About 40 days in. I tried to get them as close to the old ones for comparison but she's been tied a little more since then to let the center get more light. Still flowering? Maybe just a little? I think she's stalled out.....

Has anyone else ever done this?

IMHO you need to wait for the summer solstice, and give the plant something like 18/6 then drop her outdoors, as after the summer solstice the days get shorter, and even the longest day at that time is less than 18 hours (unless you live in alaska.

So it probably is slowing down.

Can you cover it at night? Or bring it indoors to put it somewhere dark until the solstice?

Plants have a built in delay of a couple weeks for changes. When you first expose a vegetative plant to a 12 hour night, it takes about two weeks for the plant to respond and flower.

When I have harvested Spring plants, I see the early signs of regeneration at two weeks.

I would think, if you moved your plants into vegetative lighting outdoors at 50 days of flowering, it should continue to 64 days before regeneration begins. At 40 days, your likely going to see regeneration too soon.

ah..... much thanks guys..... I've started bringing her back in for 12 hours of darkness and will continue this regimen. Better safe than sorry and I've worked too hard on this lady to be dissappointed. For lack of a better publication I keep reading High Times. In EVERY issue Jorge Cervantes goes on and on about doing this.

Quote from the Garden Calendar:
"Start flowering small plants indoors. Once they're about 12 inches tall start flowering indica dominant clones Leave them under the 12/12 day/night flowering schedule for 3 to 4 weeks.(I even went a few weeks more to be sure!) Put them outdoors in the full summer sun. They'll continue to bloom and finish out in within 4 to 5 weeks."

Every issue there is something to this effect. Not always the exact quote but damn close! Dude... sounds like Jorgy and HT in general leave too much shit out! The whole truth from you guys, I could have used 10 days ago! But.... that's my fault for not coming to you 1st.

I'm sure he knows his shit.... but Why not give all the info? I guess vague is still in style as far as HT is concerned..... sells more mags!

Jorge raised that argument a couple years ago. I though it was interesting but I am convinced it does not work in the real world.

This plant was regerated after flowering, about 2 weeks under vegetive lighting conditions.

Same plant after regeneration and a new round of flowering.

I've regenerated 4 plants after harvest a few times and had good results. That's a subject I've dealt with in the past. But the continuation of the flowering cycle until harvest under the summer sun is not working. Maybe there is a strain or two of indicas that it will work with. Not this one. Don't know what m plant is... but I'm pretty sure it's indica dominant. I've got her going in at night now and she should be ready after june I hope. Thanks for all your help!

Your girls are stunning BTW. lush and green.... looks like you really know what you're doing. i had a hard time with the plant I'm talking about. Look at what she used to look like.

Didn't think I'd ever fix that mg def!.. Had her for over a year.... I'm sure you understand why It's important to have her finish the best way possible...

Thank you, my base fertilizer is lacking in Mg and Ca, but the decomp of the Dolomite lime provides enough for healthy growth.

The plant on the right is the LUI f2. It has continued to grow while flowering, it's now larger then the seed grown LUI started a month earlier.

This is the original LUI with it's dense layer of tricromes.

Compare with the LUI f2, lots of vigerious growth, but lacking the layer of tricromes. This is the only f2 currently flowering, I would hope some of the others will have the dense tricromes.

Good lookin stoner, how come that LUI grew so much faster? Thats pretty odd.

Why is the f2 growing faster?

The first thought that come to mind, hybrid vigor. When a plant strain is developed, there is likely some inbreeding to set the desired character. We get a specific set of features at the cost of overall vigor.

After the genes are shuffled by further inbreeding, perhaps this one benefited with increased vigor at the expense of character. The most obvious difference is the lack of dense tricromes and more growth during flowering.

Time will tell, several LUI f2 grows are in progress now. I will be watching with anticipation, for the results.

The real question will be, how does it smoke? I should have an answer by the end of the month.

Why do we have to get rid of one thing to gain another. Is it always like this, or can you have a plant with hybrid vigor that also has dense trichomes.
