DimeBag65 mentioned I should stop by here, and I'll i've got to say is... Holy shit this thread kicks ass! Every band mentioned in here is on my playlist though I haven't seen anyone mention: Caliban, Bleeding Through, Arch Enemy, Heaven Shall Burn, InFlames (The older albums), Soilwork, Kreator, Mastodon, Candlemass, Shadows Fall, or Children of Bodom.

Has anyone seen the documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey? Definatly pick it up if you haven't and are a big metal head. It's an awesome movie!

Mad Season

Thanks for reminding me!!!
I love his vocals R.I.P

Last good show i saw in LA was alice in chains, and that was very low key. probly no more that 300- 500 people in a small club, half of which was vip area. first song the room just lit up with joints and even the security was smoking. they played all their classics for the most part. was really diggin down in a hole, jerry was doin vocals, just lovin their sound. really wish layne coulda been there.. but so things go.

Wow, yeah, even if it was Jerry Cantrell, he still can rock a AIC song even tho his vocals ain't the same as Layn'es.
I remember when they played a sold out Hollywood Rock in Rio (Brasil) in 1992. Nobody knew who they were and they were opening for a very big NIRVANA and RHCP if I'm not mistaken. Needless to say AIC and Layne's faultless voice rocked the whole crowd. Man in the box was off the hook. Then Kurt came on stage, destroyed the stage, pissed on the floor and began to mnasturbate and spit in every single stage camera - lame show Nirvana put on, very lame, AIC owned them that night, loud and professional! Kurt was a jerk to everyone (probably because Courtney Slut was there mnaking his life hell), but AIC made a million fans in Brazil that day....

anyone remember 'decide' ?

Deicide. They're pretty sick, I haven't seen them live but I'd definately go to one of their shows. Their lead singer Glenn Benton (sp?) is in a band called Vital Remains, which kicks major ass. If you haven't heard Vital Remains download the song "Dechristianize". It has an amazing guitar solo in it.

It's cool to see so many metal heads on ic. Another band that I've been listening to a lot lately is Artimus Pyledriver (not sure if anyone mentioned them). It's some bad ass white trash metal.

Slayer is the bible rewritten.
On 911, I went over to the CD store and Bought God hates us all. On the way over I passed an arab guy in a convertable and he smiled at me. I then went home and listened to it while I watched the towers fall.

Slayer cheered me up!

Great story Flamengo!

how could i forget kreator! which also made me recall 'entombed' ! and monstrosity :D

I'm not sure if this is already mentioned, but some guys from Entombed are back doing what they do best: dirty, rockin' death metal. Band's called "Death Breath", http://www.deathbreath.se/

Flamengo, sounds like a pretty rough gig. They're banning moshpits on some metal fests and bigger gigs here 'cause kids can't take it and don't understand to stay back. Pity. Pits are integral part of extreme metal culture.

Ban pits?!?!! Hahahahahaha!!

I have a the Zyklon DVD and I'm pretty sure moshing was not allowed at that show....either that or the crowd just HATED them because everyone just stands around and listens lol.

What people need to realize about mosh pits is that there are plenty of unwritten rules keeping you safe whether you're in the pit or just outside of it. Face hitting is not tolerated, nor is mindless fighting. You push off of each other to the beat. Sure you're gonna end up bruised and sore, but their is a brothership type of bond when you're in the pit and that only fools would disrespect. :sasmokin:

Electric Wizard <----- heavy heavy HEAVY shit...!!!

didnt see you already said EWwitchking...still HEAVY SHIT. Dopethrone is an awesome album.

I saw Electric Wizard during their Dopethrone tour , It's kinda funny because I didn't have anyone to go with so I took the woman I was dateing(who became my wife) to see Electric Wizard. My wife doesn't listen to any metal at all, and I know the music was killin' her , but we still had a great time, we smoked a joint together right in front of the stage.I have all the Electic Wizard stuff...Come my fanatics is the best album they ever did, but that's the album they didn't like the sound of. They went back to a much rawer sound on Dopethrone.

well I'm a little too old for the pit now, but in my day I was quite the pit monster, at 6'1'' and 250 lbs. everybody wanted me in the pit with them, I used to fuckin' bash motherfuckers in the pit, unfortuantly I got in a few fights in the pit as well, one reason I stay away now...too old to be roleing on the ground with some kid 10 years younger than meLOL...but I still love to be a part of it, standing on the outskirts, pushing people back in. Actually in those days if you would of talked about banning the pit , I woulda laughed in your face...but after going to shows for the last 20 years of my life pracically ,I;ve seen alot of people get hurt(badly) and it was all because there were certain people in the pit that just don't care who they hurt.which is complete bullshit and it ruins the experience. I went to a show once where my buddies had to hold me back from literally killing this skinhead that was just out there hurting people,in fact he broke my friends nose(this was at a Cannible Corpse show), I was going to fuck that motherfuckers night up real bad, but my buddies dragged me out of the show all drunk and yelling. After that I decide I had better start being alittle more careful(as well as responsible), so yes I stay out of the pit, I get angry way too easy to be jumppin around with these kids today. For them drawing alittle blood is all part of it, but I'm from the old school ,drawing blood is a sign of war and if they start it we'll finish it.

DeathBreath is great!I picked up their album a couple a monthes ago, really good especially if you crave that old school early 90's sound(chainsaw guitars)that bands like Entombed and carnage started. It contains some special guest singers ,overall it is worthwhile to pick up.

Pits are an intergal part as long as you can walk away from the show in one piece!

Dimebag was definitely a badass, truly missed by many.

I remember the first time i saw a band called arch enemy, I had never heard of them and I could have sworn the singer was a guy until i looked on stage and saw a chick jamming out, it was crazy. I also know i saw somebody mention metal: a headbangers journey, sorry, I dont remember who mentioned it, but this is an awesome documentary, I know i've seen it on vh1 a few times, definitely worth renting and watching if you are a metal head.

I have been rediscovering so many old bands since I started this thread. The one I'm listening to alot right now is Electric Wizard, what a godly band, too bad they broke up(they reformed , but totally diff. members), I think the cross I'm creating right now ,will be named in honor of this great band.
