WitchKing, old Carcass kills.. the stuff on "Symphonies of Sickness" and "Reek of the Putrefaction"... gods of grind! Though I must admit that I also enjoy their despised "Swansong" album.

County Medical Examiners is also some good stuff, keeping in mind that it is tribute. Old guy on the bass is cool.

Blue Dog, I like Carnivore lyrics eventhough they are quite extreme. I don't think there is so much racism in lyrics of "Race War" song you quoted earlier but rather a statement of the sad fact that people don't get along. "No one wins, we all lose", or as Steele later put it on TON's Bloody Kisses album, "Well shit comes in all hues / Now this means you". There is lots of sarcasm and humour of the blackest kind to be read between the lines in pretty much all Carnivore / TON stuff. The writing style is of course matter of taste, and I can see someone being offended...

Some other good stuff:

Atomizer (AUS) - Black / Trad / Thrash metal, aussie way. Good stuff, mp3's on their site http://www.atomizer.net.

Some other bands that also need to be mentioned when talking about Australian metal: Deströyer666, Gospel of the Horns and Bestial Warlust. All different mixes of war / black / thrash / death metal.

Jam Master Jaco

I just saw Goatwhore, Arsis, and Mnemick (sp?), the other day. I was surprised that Arsis was sick and Goatwhore was of course bad fucking ass!! I'm still sore from the pit :woohoo: :sasmokin:

I was in the pit for a few Mnemick songs and Arsis....but was jamming to every one of Goatwhore's songs. All of us in the pit got tired after like 2 songs from Goatwhore so we rested for some middle song and started the pit again like 2 songs later. Goatwhore kicks ass! :headbange

Last night I Downloaded a bunch of Morbid Angel...haven't heard any in way long time , I got some Goatwhore as well , I'm diggin' em. I love seeing shows in smaller venues as well , Back in the early 90's I saw a band on Subpop called TAD ,don't know if you're familiar with them, but they completly rock(not together anymore though), but I saw them in this tiny little joint and it was one the best shows I've been to, the sound quality was perfect. If I get a chance i'm going to download some more songs today.
Two new albums coming out I'm looking forward to:
Leng t'che-"Maramus" - Heavy ass ,catchy grindcore with tounge in cheek song titles and lyrics.
Dying Fetus- Forgot the name of that one ,but looking forward to it.
Both come out 7th of march I believe.oh yeah, one more...Alabama Thunder Pussy...new one coming out is said to be the heaviest and best one yet...kinda southern fried rock mixed with metal ..good stuff.
Anyone who hasn't heard Scissorfight, you don't knpw what your missin'..as i said earlier, haven't really heard a lame song from these guys yet.

I saw Carcass on acid when they toured for Symphonies of Sickness... talk about a tripped out time...

Some of my favorites...

Old Morbid Angel
Old Celtic Frost
Darkthrone
Kyuss
Sleep
OM
Repulsion
Napalm Death
Black Cobra

If you guys like Sleep check out OM which is Al and Chris from Sleep. A lot different from Sleep but they are one of my favorite newer bands. Just drums, bass and vocals. Real slow and droney, very trance like.

Also, Black Cobra's Bestial is my favorite heavy album to come out last year.

Nice thread.

If you can find the Thy Kingdom Come demo (demo #3), download that. IMO, that is the sickest thing they've ever done.

I saw Godflesh the first time they played in the US.
The sound guy didn't seem to know what to do with the drum machine and Justin couldn't hear the drums in the monitors. They got through two songs that sounded really bad, then Justin goes up to the mic and says, "Godflesh don't hear, Godflesh don't play", and walked off the stage. I saw them two other times and they owned everybody else on stage. Christbait Rising!

Who knows what album my avatar comes from?

Hell yea JMJ... Sammy still ripps it up in Goatwhore, i was kinda suprised how great they sounded live.. i like their front man, unique voice for sure.

Glad you had a good time, when i went and saw them there was a handful of us there, mainly me and a group of friends that went to see sammy. After the show we talked to him for a while but he got distracted by some lil cutie rubbin up on him. Great show though, gotta love the small venues. Dime

anyone remember 'decide' ?

a good story of a live show i saw once, was one time i was visiting the u.s and some people invited me to a 'deftones' show, it was a very small venue... the whole place became a mosh pit, and back then i had long dirty dreaded hair, and one of the locks got knotted into a cute girl's eye-brow piercing, she was annoyed at the fact i smelled rotten :biglaugh: but she was cool after her friend got the lock out of her piercing and i invited them to smoke a spliff of kind bud. end of story :D

peace!

Right on Dime!
Someone asked about a funny show story -

A long time ago, I was visiting L.A. for the first time. Those were turbulent times (January 15, 1991) and the war was official on that day. Bombs over Baghdad. Funny that I had just bought tickets to the Slayer, Testament, Megadeth, Suicidal Tour that was rocking the World at the time. Metal was in full swing and the show was at the L.A. Colliseum (ghetto area downtown)

Anyway, Suicidal was canned last minute as they were banned from playing L.A. for 5 years (I was bummed, but Slayer was also a favorite) I remember being bummed hearing that on KNAC..

Dave Lombardo was one of my idols at the time, so the show promised. My parents dropped my teenage-ass off around 6:00 p.m. and split only to pick me up later which was the plan. They were staying far at a relative's, so I was alone with 2 pinner joints and cash to buy more.

I started hearing rumours that moshing was not allowed (at a Slayer show none the less) because people died there a week prior at a Judas Priest Show(How could I forget to mention that awesome band) I asked Security and was given a NO MOSHING ALLOWED WARNING. So I proceed to enter the stadium only to see rows and rows of metal chairs tied together all the way to the front - a recipe for disaster. Sure enough, the minute that Slayer came on things went haywire. Chairs flying, people fighting with security, teeth being broken, heads bashed, people thrown out left and right. Cops were called, people that got thrown out broke all the glass windows at the colliseum. Crazy riot style. I saw a cop bashing a dude over the head with a club so hard , the dude got a a huge welt and lost all teeth in his front.
All I can remember him say and crying about was "My Mom'f gunna kill me when she seefs thif..."

It was crazy, I eventually got kicked out too when I lit my joint and they took my picture as I was being hoisted out,. What a mess. Slayer kicked ass for the long 4 songs I saw hahaha. All I remember is South of Heaven, Chemical Warfare, then huge security guards arm locking me to the door, LOL Crazy trimes, during that same time in Holllywood, there was a major fight during a Bad Religion (how did I forget them too) show where punks and skinheads had it out bad, even firefighters got their asses handed to them by some pretty burly dudes...ah those were the days..

LOL Great story man. metal chairs HA! now there for sure is a recipe for disaster at a metal show, especially when slayer has command of the stage!

Last good show i saw in LA was alice in chains, and that was very low key. probly no more that 300- 500 people in a small club, half of which was vip area. first song the room just lit up with joints and even the security was smoking. they played all their classics for the most part. was really diggin down in a hole, jerry was doin vocals, just lovin their sound. really wish layne coulda been there.. but so things go.
