1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water of both epsom salts and powdered gypsum along with the orchid food. Do this soon if you have not done this already. At least the epsom salts.

wow dude, your grow is turning out!!! ima use the same bulbs you did for my new micro cab. cfls seem to do the trick for cheap

again, great job!!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone... i am trying my best!!!

sprout- i still havent got any epsom salt but plan on doing this at my next watering. 2 of my large lower three fingered leaves are turning REAL yellow. My last watering (yesterday) i gave nothing but straight water. Next i am gonna mix the epsom salt in with my regular mix of water and ferts.

This grow is more like a soil-less grow.... the MG soil i think was a very bad move on my part... i feel like i am running a hydo setup here with all the freaking ferts and stuff... hahahahah but i am having fun and loving it!

:yoinks: Looks like you got a magnesium deficiency starting.
Once a mg deficiency occurs, it is very difficult to correct, particularly if the deficiency occurs in the mid point in the growing season. In those plant species that have a high mg requirement, the deficiency may be triggered by various environmental and physiological stress...An interesting side effect of mg deficiency is the possible increase in susceptibility to fungus disease.

Get those epsom salts at the drugstore asap. :Bolt:

Hopefully BudFather takes some very sound advice and thinks twice before clicking
on the 'reply to post' button and stays clear of this thread.

Not sure what was going on....but it's ended...don't start it again.
Would suggest any who posted in response to edit their posts now.

  • Water thoroughly when you do. 20% of what you water with should come out the drain. Allow the pots to go almost completely dry before watering again
  • Adjust the ph of the fert water after mixing to ph 6; you will probably need an acid since your using city water which may have a high ph already
  • You should add both epsom salts and gypsum together when giving the plants a boost of magnesium. This keeps a balance between potassium to calcium to magnesium of 4:2:1.
  • Dilutely fertilize with every watering

How many times have you added the epsom salt? If you only have added 1/4 teaspoon per gallon once or twice, you might go ahead and try 1 teaspoon per gallon of water along with the regular ferts. Use this high rate only once. See if this helps the yellowing. Like I said before, you should be adding gypsum with epsom to keep a balance.

You can always spray with 1 tablespoon per quart/liter of water epsom salts for a fast response. Should change color in a matter of just hours.

i wouldnt transplant this late in flowering; you want the plant to focus on flowering instead of growing roots. it doesnt look like you need to anyways, your babe is lookin sticky n plump with what ya got now!
