I doubt Dec 10th. Jan 10th maybe. You need 1 month good veg time and 2 months flower. Let the soil dry out with the new ferts. More salt uptake. Investigate a better fert choice according to the parameters i listed in the can. infirmary.

hey sprout i dont have a choice i am moving across the country in dec. the 10th gives me 8 days of dry\cure time. what would it hurt if i switched to 12\12 now?

thanks POMH!

You might want to add 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) epsom salts per gallon (3.8L) of water along with your regular fert drops. Do this once and see what happens. Seriously, invest in some better ferts and ph adjust the fert water to 6 after mixing. Switching to 12/12 now to make the dec 10 th deadline wont get you any buds. Your plants are really small and recovering. Bring them on a road trip?

DAY 34

DAY 34

Go to the drugstore. You need to make sure the fert your using has all the micros: iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron, and molybdenum. Adding epsom salts is cool. Hopefully there is calcium in your city water. You might should add that too. 1/4 teaspoon powdered gypsum per gallon (3.8L) of water along with the epsom and your regular npk fert + micros. Add the epsom and gypsum every second or third time you fert if dolomite is in your soil and everytime if little to none is in there. Adjusting the ph of your fert water after mixing gives the best results. Make sure you let the pots dry out between applications of fert water unless you get the epsom and gypsum combo to please me. :lurk:

the new nutes

This one has iron, mag, moly, zinc, baron and copper. its also by schultz its hidden under the name Orchid Food- plant food -water soluble-concentrated-with micro nutrients. its a dry powder not like the other drops i have. says to use 1\4 tbs per gallon.

If you add epsom salts and powdered gypsum at 1/4 teaspoon of each per gallon of water (3.8L), your nutrient solution will be complete except for chlorine. :chin: I bet there is chlorine in your city water. Using epsom or gypsum also adds valuable sulfur. Add the epsom salts + powdered gypsum every second or third time you use the orchid food when there is dolomite lime in the soil and every time when not. Lime eventually runs low with repeated waterings. I checked the shultz website and the numbers on the fert you have are 19-30-17 or something like that, right? Too much middle number phosphorus for just vegetative growth. It will really make the plant stretch taller. It also builds up in the soil with repeated applications. It sounds like it contains all the micros which is good.

In a veg fert you want:

>2-1-2 ratio nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium
>contain all the micros: iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron, molybdenum
>contain calcium and magnesium if no dol. lime is in the soil or you need to boost levels
>contain sulfur if no gypsum added at planting to the soil or other sulfur based ferts are used
>potassium chloride not in it; instead potassium nitrate, pot. sulfate, or monopotassium phosphate instead

Investigate adjusting the ph of your fert water after mixing to about ph 6. Directions for making your own ph up and down are in my signature. The materials used can be found at the auto parts store or grocery store. Ph test strips can be used from the aquarium section of a pet store. 4 to 7 range will work. Getting a good ph meter that tests liquids should be on your shopping list when you get extra money.

Epsom salts you can get at the drugstore. Powdered gypsum you can find at a good garden center. Call around. Hoffman may be a brand and it comes in small bags like 5 pounds or so.

Glad to see the seedlings are improving.

Just guessing, I would say try 1/2 teaspoon per gallon (3.8L) of water along with the epsom and gypsum combo. Glad things are improving. :woohoo:

:D Be careful not to overwater. Let the containers dry some. Follow previous instructions. Watch for tips burning = too much nutrients or calcium deficiency starting. Watch for yellow bottom leaves with the veins still green = magnesium deficiency. Both nutrient deficiencys can be cured with the epsom/gypsum combo.

Wow Sticky, they are recovering really well! Be sure to thank Sproutco for all his help.

The last time I saw someone struggle with dying seedlings with Miracle Grow soil it was just a disaster. It sure looks like the pH is right off with that mix.

Are you going to make up a better soil mix? It won't be long before you'll be repotting your toddlers now that they are taking off.
