Skunk #1 Mediumless Closet Grow

Hidingtree What's up buddy? :joint: I am hoping the DP BB is some good smoke. I did get my choice of three females my friend grew out. This one was the shortest, fattest, and frostiest. I got to see them hanging to dry, and then choose which clone I wanted. What a gracious friend! Made me feel like a kid in a candy store big time! :woohoo: That's also how I got the pineapple. He had just finished running both, and gave me two clones of each. One of each has survived, but alas are doing well!

Gaiusmarius Hello friend! You know what I did? I was using that light for photos. Switching off the big lights, and plugging up a couple different temp floros for even lighting....well. I forgot to pull the cord on the closet light when I was done. You can't even see it is on once the big ones are back on. The bulb has been REMOVED!! No more of this. :spank:

It may very well have affected the flower cycle. I am going to let these go 70-80 days if I have to because of it. I can not let the yield suffer, that is very important to keeping me going. I've been out of bud for a couple weeks now, and it's getting intolerable. I really do not like missing out on the special connection to everything real and surreal that cannabis gives me. It's the jewel of the universe.

70's Pothead I'm going to go with your advice and bump them up some more and see how they respond. :joint: You know me. I'm a little timid with the nutes. We'll try about 1200ppm and see if she can take it now that I've got everything corrected. You think that's enough?

1200 is a good middle of the road number IMO for plants in mid flower, give it a shot, if you dont like the results just add back some water..

Hey hidingtree.....thanks for the bump buddy. It's nice to know someone is paying attention. I had to have one of the most painful surgeries known to mankind just over a week ago. I'm still in severe pain and my stomach is a mess trying to sort itself out from the surgery. I can't figure out whether to poop or puke when I stand up, so I'm spending most of my time in bed right now. Unfortunately, I have now experienced a hemroidectomy....and a pretty severe one at that. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Right....nuff about that. :joint:

So....the plants are moving along mostly on their own. I have noticed the scale is putting on a MAJOR attack, and seriously affecting growth. Wish I had more energy to deal with any of it. There are black spots on almost all leaf stems now, and I can tell they are suffering from it.

Not to mention, I've found a few nuts here and there....most likely from me leaving the light on. :badday:

Buds are still growing, but not nearly at the pace I would like. I'm going to bomb the daylights outta those pests after this run. I'm thoroughly sick of having my plants eaten to death.

Today marks the last day of week 7 which puts us at day 49. I expect at least 70 days because the buds are not what they should be. Either way, they should carry me over till the next harvest.

The Blueberry clones are WELL rooted and looking great. My better half split them into their own one gallon bubblers to start a little veg in the cab today. Soon as the sk#1 is done, these are gonna get going, so even though I may not harvest as much as I wanted, and have the most beautiful girls I dream of, I will have another batch ready soon. That should help make up for this run. Of course, it's all out warfare on the scale before anything happens next. :dueling: :beat-dead :asskick:

Some pics....I'll reply when I feel I can move again.

Thanks man....yup. Always something for me. I agree flatulence isn't the funniest thing right now. I've been eating stool softeners and fiber for a week and a half and my stomach is upside down. A large portion of my diet is now things like salads, celery, carrots, and other vegetables. A friend here asked his mother why I would continue to be in so much pain and she said "imagine passing a watermelon".....I will add to that, a watermelon wrapped in barbed wire feels more accurate. This surgery would bring the toughest of tough guys to their knees, I promise. There are a few other ways to remove them, but mine were the worst kind. I just pray to be able to sit normally, and stand up without having to poop or puke. Thanks for thinking of me buddy! :friends:

hazy  Thanks for the kind words man. I just do what I do and hope it works! I should have called this thread the school of hard knocks, but what the heck. As long as I can sustain myself with cannabis and not support the black market I'm doing good!

Anyway....in my absence things have been moving along rather good for the hiccup with the light. We're at day 54 now, and I'm going to start flushing them. The lower fans are starting to lighten up a tad, and I figure a good two weeks of flushing and she'll be good to go.

I've had a little more time being stuck around the house to take a look. It's been two weeks since the surgery today, and I can still hardly sit for a short while. The plants though, are doing better than I thought. Looking around, there is a ton of bud in there, but it seems the plant has just lifted the screen because it wasn't secure, so a lot is hidden underneath the canopy. My plan is to snip off just the tops and remove the screen, then I'll let the lower stuff grab some light for a week or so before I take it down.

Fingers crossed....should still clear the 1Lb mark on this run. :woohoo:

My blueberry babies are starting to veg pretty nice for being under just one compact flouro. They should make for loads of fun as soon as I can chop the skunks. They're going to get topped a couple times to make sure they fill the screen. We were WAY late putting it on this run, and it should have been more secure. Could have trimmed more from below also. Lesson learned. :chin:

There's a good bit of bud here! :yummy:

s2d, where you at playa? you are my inspiration........it's because of you that i can see the pointlessness of a dwc medium

don't let the stains fool you, those roots are healthy and strong :D:D

Hey UN!! I haven't seen you in here for a while....Those roots you've got there look beautiful. I have had root rot enough times to know those are healthy roots colored by the nutes. You can see that they are very thick and vigorous.

What are you using to hold your plants up? I wish I could find the neoprene cups joecrowe uses online somewhere. The tape tends to hold water and foster mold. None the less, I am growing a bunch of plants with nothing more than duct tape.

I'll try to update this thread a little later when the lights come on. I am not getting quite the results I wanted this run due to a few minor things, but I should be harvesting within the next week or so. Due to putting the screen on so late, it has held the plants back too far from the light, and the bud size is nowhere near what I usually get. Next run, I'll secure it tightly, and will have it about 80% filled BEFORE flipping to flower.

Hey Gaiusmarius! I'm sure you know I was waiting to see you here again, my friend!

No doubt I am trying like heck to get better. In another life time I may be able to afford to meet you at one of those events. I would love a chance to hang out and smoke with you. Alas, I am a poor schmuck, so I don't see that happening any time soon, lol! :friends:

So, here we are at day 60 and should be harvesting, but we're going to wait at least another week or more if I can stand it. The light leak definitely slowed, or should I say STOPPED progress. You'll see in a couple close ups below how the tops stopped, finished, and then the buds started re-growing sideways. Grrr.....

The buds are looking good, but definitely need more time. I have had the plants flushing for about 6-7 days, and you can see they still have a good bit of energy stored up, so they should make it at least another week, and hopefully put all of that into fattening up these buds. It does seem the flush has triggered her instinct to hurry up and finish already, so that is good.

As for the blueberry clones, I topped them a day or two ago, and we'll update on those in a few more days and see how the topping went.

I am so long winded it's not funny. Do I bore you guys? :chin:

PICS!

pool noodle :D i just yank the plug out of the bubble cloner and drop it right in the bucket....tooo easy. i'm expecting her to stretch quite a bit so she'll definitely need some support when the buds start packing on.....i'll worry about that when the time comes.........thanks again for the inspiration, i'll let ya know how it ends up

.....there's still some coco stuck in the roots as you can see, do you think that could cause any problems?

Hey UN! I don't think the coco is going to cause any troubles at all as long as root zone temps are in order. Those are some VERY fat, strong looking roots you've got there. I honestly don't think anything will hurt those, lol!

I am a big advocate of mediumless growing. I have not once touched a net pot, rocks, pebbles, dirt, coco, rockwool, etc in over three years of growing. If it weren't for being on a poor man's non existent budget I would have had all the environment under control long ago.

Using the screen this time, I haven't even had to tie up the stalk of the plants once. I have some really good ideas on how to best utilize the screen next time. I just wish I would have put it on sooner. Too much growth is being held back this time affecting yield, but I just need enough bud to get to the finish of the next run, heh! I think I've got that covered easily... :smoke:

it sure is looking good in the Stoned2Death, i think you could take a few sample buds off the bottom of the plants to give you an idea what to expect and to help you be patient in the last days, lol. i find it's always useful to know how early a strain can be taken at a pinch without it being a waste of time.

it would be so cool if you could make it to a meet in the dam, i know it's not easy from so far away, still you will surely get the chance at some point, would be nice anyway.

all the best for the trim fest, rofl :biglaugh:

Hey Gaius! If I ever do get the chance, you and Bro. Ferre will be the first to know because of course, the THC Ministry Amsterdam is one of my first stops!

I pulled a couple sample branches. They are much more frosty than the last run. Overall health of these plants has been phenomenal compared to previous runs. The frost is much more prominent this time...it's truly amazing. The smell is also much more enticing this time around. What a difference having cold water and good environmentals has made.

I guess the beauty of this run is everything is working right and I can simply turn around and put the next batch in. No long delay causing me to run out of sacrament this time.

The blueberry is looking really good and I'm very excited to be switching genetics. I really love the flavor and smoke of this sk#1, but I am unhappy with this particular pheno because it has a few growth characteristics I don't like. It is very finicky about nutes and any other disturbance.

It's funny how quickly I can become bored with a strain. After a couple runs I have GOT to have something different to work with, heh!

Hey , S2D !!! glad to see things a success .! ya know i gotta tell you ... you ain't no poor schmuck . wealth is measured in alot more than $$$$ ! i know you're jokin .... i'd say your are wealthy in so many ways . many things happen in a lifetime as we know . well , enuff o that .! ok so one a me matey's is so bored with the sk#1 already ....he was smokin on it for about 6 weeks .... and is like man i need something different! i'll let ya know meself when the one i have comes to fruition in 2-3 weeks . (and a week worth of dry ... then..... ) yours are looking quite good . i do love the pineapple smell and taste . the pheno we have is very similar to yours . but mmmmm blue berry . my brother in law does not grow anymore and gave me a few bags of blueberry seeds and a bunch of other crosses and one ak47 ....when he grew he lived in the rocky mts' and grew indoors ... he mentioned the blues were mostly mutant ... i can't wait to find out ! hidintree What's happenin' buddy? You got me right....I'm just monetarily poor schmuck, lol!

I really do like the sk#1, but I just gotta have something different to play with. Not to mention, I can't wait to taste MY own blueberry buds, heh!

I would hold tight to those blueberry seeds, and if I was you, I might be getting a momma of that and the AK47 going now also...AK47 is one I want to give a shot someday for sure.

I do have one more little trick up my sleeve. I have a pack of 6 BOG Grape Punch seeds sitting here that belong to a friend. He says I can pop them if I keep em all alive. I've gotta figure out just how to do that. Those will be VERY nice. The first six produced a few good females. I hope the last six do too....

Thanks for poppin in man. I'm healing a little better now. Still not ready to return to normal activity, but making some progress. See you in A'dam! :smoke:
