running a warehouse smoothly - share your tips!

-Trapezes beat the shit out of putting a bunch of hooks in the ceiling. If you aren't familiar with the concept, you run a rail (we used EMT) for each row of lighting you are throwing up, and then can hang all your lighting equipment from those instead of mounting ballasts and hoods in separate spots. It's clean, simple, and gets stuff out of the way in your rooms.
What exactly is a "Trapezes"? I'm hoping to start setting up in my warehouse soon but not sure how to go about hanging the lights and ballasts(going to be using Gavita's) Building has high ceilings so trying to figure out something that has flexibility of light/ballast placements but doesn't involve me climbing a ladder to the ceiling every time.

If you find one let us know lol :D
The best option would to have built a room in a room with ballasts right above the lights but on top the room so you take stairs to the ballast. But IME I've climbed a lot of ladders. Nature of the beast

That does sound like a good option but i don't have a second floor and don't plan on building one.

Ya, no I didn't figure you could or would want to lol.

If you can afford the cables, one of my grows had the ballasts mounted on the walls around the grow and ran long wires along the ceiling basically. I still needed a ladder tho lol

I don't mind if it's a step ladder or something not climbing no 30 feet or something lol.

I love airplanes and don't have heights issues there but my thing is edges. J don't like to be near an edge I can Fall off so I feel ya on that. Doing roofing was interesting being afraid of edges lol.

This is a units rut trapeze set up to hold 4' fluorescent fixtures, I hang everything with motorcycle tie downs for easy raising and lowering

I could be wrong but I would think anyone wanting to run a warehouse would expect as much. I pretty much do this with my current set up at home anyway. I put a lot of work into building a living quarters at my warehouse so I'm fully prepared for this. My warehouse is just over 2000sqft as well.

Contractor electrical or construction supplies. If you're running bare, horsecocks (think Chinese finger trap) are great for raising and lowering. Can't recall the specific product name. Laser levels come in handy, and save much going up and down a ladder, or trying to measure upside down. Failing that, chalk lines can reduce the hassle.

It can be fun, but tiresome, be sure to think multi level when building out your living space. Ie mezzanines, and second story storage.
Thx for the pic. Where does one get the track and etc for something like that?
The product is called Unistrut, and it has so many applications in a warehouse operation it's stupid, you will definitely be needing it.
@Lyfespan...How many fixtures in that space? 1000w? Whats behind the film? How High is the ceiling?
right now I have 10 1000(1200 really) watt DE fixtures , with supplemental fluorescents running below the canopy on the walls. I hung 1" Rtech rigid insulation panels over wood stud, behind the panda film, putting the metallic side facing out you gain Rvalue. My ceiling height is 16', most of my plants are 6-8 feet tall and are sitting on 2 foot tall rolling tables.

Perfect, thx. Is this what most warehouse growers use for their lights? Is it hard to install? How is the pricing on this stuff?

I stand corrected. Looked like standard c channel iron support, from way over here, squinting with one eye :D

rabbi, most guys setting up spots are using gavitas, you diont really need to adjust gavitas once theyre mounted, the el1 and 2 controllers give you total control of light intensity so you can adjust accordingly.. 10+feet is optimal,i use them and i have just over 9, my beds are low and i use techniques to keep my stretch down, this rooms 18.5x36.

Thx for the tip sureshot. I do actually plan on going with Gavitas myself but can't help but feeling like I would want some movement options until I get things fully dialled in. Your set up looks great though, nice work.
