running a warehouse smoothly - share your tips!

I was a grower for a dispensary that had a 3 floor warehouse with at least 5 rooms a floor and between 10 and 30 lights a room.
I never said I know it all. If I did quote me. But i do know a thing or two such as VPD. You don't need dehuies unless its outrageously high. Enough air movement prevents mold. Plants love humidity.
They just didn't like us taking pictures. any of us.

If you really want huge yields utilize that VPD chart.

Big sink can't be said enough hehe. Not so hard to find a good one at demo sales or to score one from a kitchen rebuild.

That's correct, big sink rocks. I modified a shower with a basin sink on one side and a taller area on other.

Showers help tremendously.

An anti pest matt to step in and kill bugs and mildews
Consists of a dog water mat with a cloth containing either bleach water or something similar.
WE bring most things into a grow. ( pest etc)

Scrubs to change into as soon as you enter the building but before you enter rooms. Outside clothes bring in pasts and mildews.

As far as soil, coco, hydro. No one is easier as I've done each on industrial scales. Do what you know already and know this larger scale means larger everything.

If you're doing soil then that's going to be a lot of hauling dirt. Either from the truck to the warehouse or whatever. If hydro then there will be a lot of equipment cleaning.

Each has its pros and cons and people do each on that scale. I've only seen one all rockwool dispensary grow but they're out there.

The best place I worked for used a coco myco perlite mix and had some of the best flowers in Colorado. But they have since been corrupted and put out subpar herb now

I found a regular split air conditioner to be much more affordable than a mini split for cooling large rooms. I bought a 3 ton ac/heater mini split for a little under 3,000, and later bought a 5 ton split ac for about 2200. That 5 ton definitely ain't mounting in the wall though

My advice would be to tell your inspectors and contractors as little as possible. Know your stuff inside and out but just tell them what you want as specifically as possible and give them as little to go on as possible beyond that. You don't get a gold star for being extra compliant and you'll likely just give them something to jerk you around or jack up the bill with. Case in point - we have metal walls because I made the mistake of telling the architect about the potential high end of humidity problems. Low risk scenario but try explaining that to engineers and building inspectors.

And keep your mouth shut around OSHA, gods forbid they show up. Tell all your employees the same. One designated mouthpiece for the company and hopefully they have paperwork.

Can you elaborate some more about the metal wall problems, are they causing you issues? I can understand less light transmission, but otherwise it seems like an option as long enough light is coming from overhead. In my mind Im picturing you have a somewhat similar setup as N-P-Kali, who has or had a solid walled greenhouse with polycarbonate overhead.

I have no idea who that is. We're indoors and we couldn't use any wood in our construction. Added a bunch of costs. Super clean, viable option, great insulation, but it was a more expensive option I wasn't sold on except that we couldn't get our stamps without it or something damned close.

N-P-Kali is a member on IC, seems to post more on IG. Part of TLC in LA. There were pics of the building he used to have but I noticed that its all been deleted now. Anyway I can understand metal buildings costing more, doing that comparison myself lately. Are your walls solid metal, as in no light other than overhead? I'm thinking of solid metal to eight foot height and then polycarbonate for two feet of the rest of the wall and polycarbonate overhead is more secure. Is that something like what you have?

Nope, we have enclosed ceilings and are using LEDs for a primary light source. I'll be putting up a thread about it whenever I get around to it. Just gotta find a camera - I still use a shitty flip phone and no one wants to see pics from that.

Flip phone pics would be good enough me, because I've read enough of your posts to know your doing real work. Of course that's coming from someone who's never posted a pic to date.
LED's as a primary source of light? Care to share your LED light choice, because I've never heard of anyone trying that.

Second.
Except I've seen it as a primary light source. I YouTubed led vs hps and watched norcal growers compare equivalent watts and know it's a good choice if you do your research first.

All right I'll see what I can get up to tonight. Build out's almost finished, just putting landscaping in and waiting for the LCB to schedule our final inspection. May as well take pics of the indoors while I putter around setting up the computer and scale and whatnot.

As for which lights, we're using Lumigrow Pro 650s for flower lighting and T5HOs for veg lighting. The Lumigrows aren't the highest performers on the market but they're about the best I could find inside our budget range. The top end models are PRICY.

I just checked out those lights. And I haven't heard of them til now but they look pretty dope. The white only view option is cool to have but I'd probably run all, all the time lol. You should post up a thread of it all as you go cuz I know a lot people need to see larger scale led grows.
YouTube hps vs led and the first vid should be spyders vs hps. Those are dope too

yeah, BML Spydrs were one other model I was looking at but they cost about 2.5x what the Lumigrows do after you factor in commercial discounts on both models. That can be offset if you get a rebate but we're on federal power so no rebates for us for efficient marijuana production. The third model that topped my list was the LSG Highbay.
