Sure hold out your plate....

My cousin used to make it over a wood fire and would drop a gallon in a tin can off for my Dad. It had a trace of woodsmoke flavour through it and was so thick, it wouldn't pour.

Hey I've been using molasses all along. I bet real maple syrup would add a little extra taste - eh!

Wups, BG. you popped in between posts. The sap's been running for a few weeks now, and the pancake houses on the island were open. I image it will be slowed down now that winter is back. Are you anwyhere near me?

I was considering that as well Red but don't use mollases yet. Still readin up on that. The sugar properties the same? Would it be a lighter dose? cause man maple might add a nice flava flav eh?

I've been giving a tsp/gal every now and then. All the organic guys use molasses all the way through to feed the micro herd. I had some leftover nute mixture with a tsp/gal of molasses that sat for a week and started growing some slime.

I'm gonna finish off with the maple syrup provided it doesn't go on the ice cream first.

Anyway, that's it for me today. Gotta go to the gym and burn off 1/2 lb of bacon and 4 pancakes.

I've been about a week behind your grow all along. I'm in the final two weeks or so.

This girl is slowing down and not taking up as much nutes and water as the other one. This pheno favours the Dutch Treat mother. I've run this pheno before and it finishes about 55 days. It is a nice up high and has a fruity berry smell and flavour. I want to make this one a mother.

This plant is going to be interesting. This pheno shows Shiskaberry traits and shows no sign of slowing down. I had one get sorta stuck in flowering and it went 85 days. I never acutally got amber trichs, just got tired of flowering it and pulled it. Each cola was 1/4 oz and fucking potent with a hashy taste.

Hey I should tell you the lineage of my girls.

They are a F2 cross of Shiskaberry from Spice of Life by Breeder Steve crossed with Dutch Treat. The DT is from one of the Vancouver breeders, probably Jordan of the Islands or Vancouver Island Seed Co. The Shiska is a multiple CC winning strain and so is the Dutch Treat. I owe Breeder Steve big time and plan to buy some of his fabulous seeds to keep the Karmic balance. Emery was selling these seeds for $30 for 15 seeds. Bwahahahaha

Edit

Sealing up the light chamber fixed my smell problem!!! :woohoo:

I'm back to full stealth mode again.

Nice Shiskaberry Red...right on Bro!...here's something I found out after the fact... Breeder Steve had his hands in on the creation of LUI somehow. So I'll gove him Props too. Not sure exactly but from what I have heard he was in on it somehow along the way..maybe one of the back strains or somethin I think.

Count on Sugabear to be down with the Maple Syrop tricks eh? ...lol I'll take a shot glass with me for DVD's sometimes....lol ... the lighter colored maple sugars have more flavour, the less you boil it down, just for any maple syrop noobs watching.

Great Job Red
Peace

I'm here to join you folks ! I recently acquired my cab today and I have done a few mods to it so far. Right now I'm a few fans, plexiglass, closing door, or carbon scrubber.

What I do have is a 40 x 16 x 15 inch grow cab to work with. Here is my work so far.

Oopsy, I forgot to turn this image upright. Look at it sideways I suppose.

Hey Suga or is that Maple-Suga LOL - I've done the same thing. Hahaha

Hey Bonsai, you're a real maple syrup junkie too.

I'm gonna have to give my girls a taste on the next watering. I've been doing some reading and it seems that some of the clearing agents are just glucose/fructose which is basically corn syrup. I wonder how much maple syrup to use. It's pretty sweet compared to mollases.

I wouldn't be surprised if Breeder Steve's stuff is in most of the strains on the go. I think most of the strains are all crosses from a few Dutch seed co's. What's your LUI like?

Hey Budless - looks like you have good start on your cab. You won't be budless for long!

Red - Count me in on the Maple Syrup Junkie list too. While I'm south of the border, I spent a good part of my youth in Nothern New England and became totally addicted to it. Unfortunately, my diabetes has kind of put a kink in my style, but I do cheat from time-to-time.

By the way, I'm liking the girl with the Shiskaberry traits thats fininshing up in your grow!

yeah yeah - the maple syrup lovers thread is just waiting to be started.... but seriously the sap does flow south of the border - northern ny, vt, nh, and to a lesser extent maine (maine is mostly pines)... I have fond memories of buying maple syrup from a guy boiling it off on the side of an old country road - $7 for a full quart mason jar - oh and it was good....

Hahaha this is turning into the maple syrup lovers thread.

Pipedream, my Dad is a diabetic too. He's cheating all the time but he goes for long walks to burn it off. I'm really liking both my girls.

Hey Suga - when I was a kid, maple syrup came in gallon tin cans like wood preserver. I believe you, those states are all hardwood and they get a real winter too!

Both girls got a feeding with a taste of the liquid gold. I've dropped the nutes on the Dutchy down to 600ppm. The trichs are 50% cloudy and it seems to be taking water slowly.

I'm gonna let the Shiska go a bit longer. It seems to be hungry and thirsty and is still bulking up. It took an extra week to start budding too.

ok so how do i know when they are ready for chopping? i am sure i got some time left...but not sure exactly how much. forgot to write it down :(. ive noticed some new pistils on top but alot on the bottom are browning up. id say the smaller one is about 40-50 % brown while the bigger one is like 30 or so. both seem to have new growth coming in but as this is my first real harvest i dont knwo when or what to look for. im aware of looking at the trichs but i dont have a scope that zooms in enoguh. my magnifying glass goes to 3x i think..but i cant make out if it is clear or milky. no amber ones yet tho. i wanna be able to flush it out to get some ferts out of the bud and not have the harsh tasdte but dont wanna wait too long.

does curing take that chem taste out?

edit: i THINK i switched over in the last week of feb. as my hps came the 19th and it sat like a week or so. by my count its day 44...the smaller one is got tons of trichs when its under the light..sorry no pics as the camera is out of batteries and were too poor for those LOL.

red what day are your plants on?

Curing will not get rid of a chemmy/ nute smell, curing will get rid of harshness due to moisture and chlorophyll but if you hiked up the nutes too much or didnt flush you will taste a chemmy flavor.

Hey it's day 54 now.

This girl is getting close to the end. It showing more tip burn at reduced nutes. I'm gonna give her just water on the next watering.

This one is still filling out. I pulled back on the nutes a bit and it ate a couple of leaves. I think there's still a couple of weeks left in this one!

Hey Hogwild - nice to see ya. You're right on. A cure only makes good weed better.

Darren - everyone harvests to thier own tastes. You can go by pistils colour if you don't have a microscope. Anytime you want to finish the plant just flush the soil and run pure water for a week so the plant uses up any stored nutes.

This grow is going to be really good. I sampled some popcorn and it's not very chemmy. It pays to be dialed in. I can't wait until these are flushed out.
