Red' Greenery's 150 HPS Cab

G

Guest

Hey Mike - go for it. I'm really happy with the 150 HPS and the plants just love it..

Here's a day 45 update...

These girls are doing great and are they ever stinky. I dumped a fresh lb of carbon into the scrubber and it helped a bit but it's still getting through. There's only a couple of weeks left to go so I can tough it out.

No complaints with the Sensi Bloom. The last feeding was reduced to 1000 ppm (bottle directions) and I watered today with plain water. The runoff pH was pretty high around 7.0 which tells me they are still taking up nutes.

Hey mj

The plants are doing very well with the Sensi, way better than previous grows but I never had a source of Ca, just whatever was in the tap water.

I've added D.Lime on this grow and it's really made the biggest difference overall by stabilizing the pH letting the plant take up lot's of P. Last grow I fought salt buildups and dropping pH all the way through flowering and had to flush the soil at least 3 times to get back on track.

Edit (more bud porn)

Hey Ctcoyote - nice to see ya pop by for a visit. Yeah I really like the new cab. It's so nice to have doors so I can peek at my plants anytime I want. And I do too!!!
The stacked tubs are a pain to lift off and I check my plants 2x daily.

BigBang - feel free to copy my design when you want to upgrade.

Hey Jassimo - nice ta see ya. I'm really enjoying this grow too!

Here we are at day 49. I've been pulling back on the nutes as per the AN plan. Last feeding was at 1000 ppm followed by a watering and a feeding today at 800 ppm. The plants are taking less water now for some reason. Dumped an extra lb into the filter and it's been damp and rainy/slushy shitty out for over a week now.

Plants are doing just great my Sensi Bloom A/B program. The lower leaves are staying about the same and there's no tip burn so I'm in the zone for correct nute strength.

I'm seeing some calyxes getting red on both plants, more on the thinner one. The end is in sight.

Red, Ive borrowed from your design a lot in my setup, as if you hadn't noticed already, lol. Anyhow, I have a similar sized grow area to you but I'm building a larger scrubber to exhaust through. Do you think two 40cfm fans will be enough to exhaust through a 1.5 square foot scrubber? I can install more fans easily enough if neccessary but its the additional inlets and lightproofing that will be the challenge.

I see your cab is coming along nicely. You'll have some nice buds before you know it.

My scrubber worked fine in my rubbermaid tubs but I find it's getting overpowered by my stinky girls on this grow.

The little sterilite box with the carbon is 14" x 8" so I have less than 1 sqft of area with a carbon depth of 2" with 2 lbs of carbon. I measured the air flow with 1lb of carbon using a large garbage bag and measuring the time to fill. It worked out at 15 CFM.

I'm going to make a larger scrubber on my next grow with around 2-3 sqft of area using the cylindrical SIS design or I'll buy a CAN 2600. Mountain John does really well with his.

Hey Red.

I'm sure you've seen this but for your theme I'll add it. Here's the DIY Carbon Scrubber link I used to make my scrubbers. Changing the size is super easy.

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=29402&page=1&pp=15&highlight=diy+carbon+filter

and here's a link to a place I'll be buying all my fans from now on. Check out that price eh?

http://www.leevalley.com/garden/page.aspx?c=1&p=56701&cat=52&ap=1

I figure final cost of this set-up including taxes, duct tape and carbon to be around $150.00 max. My 6" vortex was $280 frickin bucks. Think I'll ever do that again?...ba ha ha ha ha

Peace Red

Hey guys - thanks for the help with the scrubber info. Does anyone have a good Canadian source for CAN filters? I'd like to build the SIS scrubber but I think it's cheaper to buy a prebuilt one. Don't have a cheap souce of bulk carbon.

Us poor Canuks get raped on broker fees when ordering from the States. UPS or Fedex adds anywhere from $30 to $50 per item. I got royally hosed ordering a swing training golf club as a christmas present for my Dad last year.

I only need about 10 to 15 CFM of airflow so I'm fine with computer fans. I have one card up my sleeve that I haven't played yet. I can dump another lb of carbon in the filter and add another computer fan to double the the back pressure. One of these days I want to take my collection of fans and bolt them all together and see how much pressure they can make.

Here's my girls today. They're starting to get top heavy. One lower bud is hanging at 45 degree angle Wohoo!!!

They are sucking up water again. Dropping the nute level seemed to help that way but I can see more lightness in the lower leaves.

Hello Red & all the fellow tubbers out there. Happy Easter

Lookin mighty nice there Red! :woohoo:
Have been working like a dog on the ol yuppievillefarm, figured I would finally drop by & sit a spell. :lurk: All this cold air keeps comin down from Canada. Killed off 4/25' row of taters. :badday:
So I figured I would come in & chop a few. :sasmokin:

Thats what I ended up getting was the Can brand. I can say it is much quiter than the eco ones.
I don't claim to know anything but, ever since I switched to using Floranova Grow & Bloom w/Floralicious plus. Everything has done better for me.

Well Sorry don't mean to jack your thread. Just wanted to say hello!
Here is a little parting bud shot, my first ever harvest. I owe it all to your tub thread.

In the top of my cabinet you can see my can fan set up

Wow Sunset, you've come a long way from the tubs too!

Your yuppyville farm looks sweet.

Is your harvest from the tubs or your flowering cab?

We're right in the middle of the deep freeze with a daily dump of fresh snow. The ski hill closed last week which really sucks.

I've been really reluctant to seal up the lightchamber because I keep fiddling with things. I took a piece of lit string and found that it was sucking air around the edges. Now the light chamber is 100% sealed up. Hopefully that will fix up the stink. My scrubber worked great the last grow.

One thing, it's nice to have some free time now that skiing is over. I just fried up a lb of bacon and made a batch homemade pancakes with REAL maple syrup made locally. The maple syrup is to die for. I'm so stuffed now, I need a nap!!!

Hey Bonsai, yup I'm a proud Canuck through and through.

Here's what we call liquid gold up here in the Great White North. The Lodge is located within spitting distance of where the Edmund Fitzgerald when down in that Gordon Lightfoot song.

Have you ever put maple syrup on ice cream?

Hey Pipedream - thanks for the kind props. I got a lot of inspiration from your cabinet too. Gotta love these 150 HPS cabs!!!
