well done hazy! I realize that an beating addiction is really tough, especially when the substance is so easily available. And christmas dinner without a glass of good wine must be tricky to handle.

Merry Christmas Mr. Fontazy and congrats, again. Next is New Years... I dreamed I was out somewhere with some cool people and wanted to drink a beer. I cannot remember if I did, but I do not crave anymore while I am awake. Problem is I have developed a hellova tolerance for pot now, including edibles.

Save that ABV and make butter for edibles.

The willpower gets easier as the carbions go away. maybe I substituted cookies and that made them happy. I am eating maybe 10 a day now. That has held my weight to a baseline. No higher, no lower. I did put 15 pandemic pounds on in the spring, and worked them off in the summer. But...

30 fuckin pounds Mr. Fontazy!! You should be proud of that also. I think that you said that you are in your 30's. Believe me, if you stick with this your life will be a whole hellova lot better, and longer.

Tablets help a little but it's more willpower,, I think I'm through the worst of it now,, taking each day as it comes, thanks for posting

what kind of tablets do you take?

I´d actually kinda like to cut down on booze too. maybe not 100% tho. I intend to start a bit of a detox the next two weeks, incl some fasting which btw I find much easier during spring and summer.

I went through a detox, now on campral.. Not sure they give you tablets if you go on a reduction program.
Good luck whatever you decide

Awesome idea for a thread. I too have been drinking for awhile and I think its time to set her aside and charge into 21 with the reigns held high. Its time to kick this expensive ass habit and wake up and smell the kush

Well I don´t have a serious problem, but I like the effect of if- it makes me feel nice and relaxed.
That is why I decided to turn to weed again this year. a good smoke relaxes you as well :)

my problem is that I have candida and candida makes you crave sugar incl alcohol. bit of a vicious circle really.

When I say detox, I really just mean a general health type of cleanse. as in gut, liver, and everything else. I´m dying to loose the weight I had gained due to meds.
Booze is just unessecary calories.

I googled campral - the side effects sounds rather umpleasant. I hope you don´t have to struggle with those as well.

Get rid of that damn candida. Job #1. I had an infestation for bout a decade, undiagnosed. It caused a chronic cough, which messed up my internals, and fucked up my career cause nobody wants a cougher around. All that the MIC docs would give me is cough and cold meds.

I found "flucanzole" on the interwebs, had my dentist prescribe it, and 2 or 3 courses later I was cured. Huge improvement. Last time I saw him he said he cured his father in a nursing home who had the same thing, using that drug. No downsides.

I also suggest getting the acidity out of your system. I have been drinking water with baking soda for several years, and I believe it has helped tremendously.

And that little recording/alarming SPO2 ring has helped quite a lot in training me how to sleep and keep my O2 up without a CPAP mask. I had almost a perfect night last night, O2 score 9.9, and the daytime sleepies are gone. MIC will make you wear a mask, which probably gets you sick also.

Little things matter a lot. Also, IMO another biggie is walking past all the coolers in the supermarket with highly decorated processed food as you walk back to the places they keep the good raw fish and meat, eggs, dairy, and vegies. At the regional chain, these displays light up when you pass, and the wide isles are right between the entrance doors and the good food. They suck you in.

Edit: I still am addicted to carbs, usually in the form of spicy hot chips or doritos. It may be the spice, but I think something is still craving carbs. The candida may be that, and it may still be in my brain or system somewhere. Lurking, but demanding carbs.

I´ve been battling the candida for a long time now. I´ve tried lots of stuff including nystatin but it wasn´t effective enough.

I´ve not come across flucanzole before, thank you. I´ll check it out and see if it´s available in my country (and how much it costs lol)
You´re right over- acidity is a big problem for many people, even though they aren´t aware of this. I´ve been drinking alkaline iononized water for years now and it´s great stuff. It tastes way better than baking soda ;)
I also have gut issues, for many years now, caused presumably by antibiotics. Just one course of that stuff can ruin things inside.

I´ve read today that leaky gut syndrome can actually make people crave booze. So for those really struggling this might be worth looking into

Just found flucanzole. it´s available here but it requires a prescription. I´ll see the GP in the new year. we´ll see what he says :)
btw, how long did it take you to kill the candida?

I'm not sure why but last week for 10 seconds I had a plan to "just" drink a beer from the store. I was sitting in bed and I guess I was thirsty for anything or something. Never! Just remembered what it feels like to be drunk in the daytime and crap. I'll never drink again.

Maybe you should try smoking more weed because it really helped me get rid of the desire to drink. Another thing that helped me is I picked up skating as a regular hobby
