I work 12 hours a day 6 days a week not including garden time and I am on call for nights and weekends for issues . And like I said crew is fucking retared so spend atleast a night a week fixing some fuck up . Last one was from 9pm to 1 am after working a 12 hour day and garden time .

Sorry to take over thread . Also how do you sleep . I am lucky to get 4 hours a night . Drinking and meltonen has help me get to 4 hours so that's nice but I would love 6 hours a night . I go to bed at 8pm normally and get up around 11pm then try to find / get another 30 min in if at all possible . A few drinks at 1 am gives me another 2 hours of sleep . But this is no way to live

You drink at least a fith a day? How the hell do you not go through DTs? Honestly if I were you I would detox in a hospital if they were available.your gonna have to detox at home.its the only way and hope you don't get bad withdrawals.its probably the only way with the amount you drink.what are you drinking and are you mixing it or you drinking it straight? Get as much B vitamins in you as much as you can.ive been through this shit too many times.if you need more advice don't hesitate to ask me.im detoxing right now myself.it sucks

I know how it is working construction.we would smoke and drink before, during and after work so I know where your coming from but detoxing is the only way.there is no pill or food that will work overnight.but I know you gotta work.my dad still roofs at 61.hes in great shape except the drinking.hes just now starting to feel it with night sweats.

Anyway they have detox teas that are better than nothing.also tension tamer and sleepy time herbal teas are ok if you drink enough.maybe try Kratom.main thing is the first few days are the worst.your gonna need those painkillers from the dentist if you can get them.thats gonna help out alot.try and get some b vitamins too.cant really think of anything else at the moment.good luck

Alcohol is a bitch and will kill u. My last relationship ended 2 years ago and her drinking and all the fuck that comes with it was a main part of the break. End of november she died after a relapse overdose. She kept it a secret first but after a while it was clear everyday allday. Had my problems giving her a preach since i smoke heavy everyday but i tried. After our break up we kept loose contact. She also lost her job as a nurse on a drug ward because she couldn't hide her problem anymore. Think the job made the situation worse because it gave her a false feeling of selfcontroll.
When she got first withdrawl symptoms was the point she realised she realy had a big problem. After withdrawl treatment and therapie she was on a good way also got new relationship that was great support staying clean.
As i have heard from her clique the relationship broke, she seeked help on a psych ward but couldn't get a bed and was send home with some benzos(way too less to od) but also got booze on the way home. No one heard of her for some days and the police finaly found her in her flat with an alcohol overdose. She always was an excessive drinker so i imagine her drowning the 3-5 pills she got with half the bottle but not sure about that. She was clean of alcohol for more than a year so her body was not used to the amonts she used to drink.
Natascha died 4 days before her 34 birthday.

what i know from her(job+her experience) its about 9 days withdrawal symptons like craving, sweating, high blood preassure, no energy, being a real asshole,...
Benzo like oxazepam or nitrazepam are used to treat the symptoms and "easy" to titrate like still sweating(physical symptom) up with benzo. Start feeling effects from the benzos its time to reduce them. But that hardly works without a professional support.
About 100h after your last drink u get in the "hot phase" for seizure so no sunlight or heavy activity but u won't be able to do so.

But stopping to drink is only the start. Therapie or support group like aa or others are a must. Going back to your old live without having a good look why u kept drinking will maybe work...till your next problems hit u. A lot of people change their job after withdrawal either because the job/stress is a risc factor for relaps or they did choose a job they even didn't like but the alcohol mad it okay.

I'm coming up on 2 years without a drink (April 1st)
It gets easier. A cold beer still sounds nice, but I never knew moderation, so although it sounds nice, I have to acknowledge the consequences. Alcohol makes me sad and nervous. Ironically I drank because it made me happy, energetic, and carefree. It's a shitty little trap.
@Dankwolf. I'd recommend to just keep tapering down. A cold turkey approach can be dangerous.
(But that is how I did it as well)
Maybe its better to look for work elsewhere if you are surrounded by heavy drinkers. I know I fell victim to the "if you can't beat them join them"
Only you know that deep down urge that makes you reach for that bottle. And we don't want to acknowledge that source but sometimes you gotta look right at it and try to make peace with it.
Never quit quitting. Took me 10 years to put down the cigarettes. But I just kept quitting. And eventually it stuck.
Good luck to everyone.

Things like Acamprosat or Naltrexon can help with longterm craving after withdrawal. But best to stay away from alcohol. Even tiny dose like herbal extract drops are enough to trigger your system what can cause heavy craving.

Dankwolf, you are doing the hardest part IMO, and that is actually starting to quit. And a huge congrats on tapering down from where you were, which was a one way road to unhealthy misery. Hard alky is horrible, so have you tried tapering down by switching to beer?

A 12 ounce beer is a lot of drinking compared to a shot, and it may help with the physical addiction. I say that because I also think there is the habit of drinking, which now I have transferred to plastic water bottles. And then there are the fucking carb cravings, which I still have. Potato chips or doritos stop that craving.

This is a big thread and there is plenty of room. Quitting drinking is a very positive thing, and well worth it. This isn't easy, and we're here for you.
