Acid Fire, Working hard I see. Are you going to use drip or soaker style?

BackCountry, Same question are you running soakers or drippers? I am going to bury a PVC pipe with holes drilled and a fill line hopefully close to a creek or lake.

Rookie, Sounds like you are in for a banger season! What's your strain? White Rhino?

OK Got to go check the babies and get out of here the sun is out!

Yeah testin out the GH Fem Rhino right now indoors, suposed to finish on or around oct 1st so I think I can pull it off outdoors.
It's also suposed to be mold resistant as well, so I might be in for a treat... :D
They grow pretty fast too so I might be in for some monsters... Fingers crossed.. :D
What have you got goin on this year SS?

Hmmm, badmfs set up and mine are basicly the same thing, I prefer the higher quality Gilmour timers though, good luck with that! I'll get a better thread up on the basics soon.

True, I wanted to use a temporary res just incase though.
If this spot is secure enough I might make an inground res next year.

I bought a "Yardworks Digital Water Timer" as its the only one I could get in this area. Not sure of the quality but for $50cnd I hope its decent!
Not sure exactly what soakers are, but sounds like thats what im going to use.
I want to be able to control the amount of water they get as the season progresses.

Rookie, I'll have Colombian Red X Colombian Gold crossed in Costa Rica by Chaman, Lowryders and Perfection F2 so far. Depending on how fast my plants re-vege will be putting out some clones too.

SirHarryNugz, What do you have going out this year? Do you have your spots already picked out? Oh yeah and welcome abord.

HinduKushed, As I was reading that I though of a nice place you could get to easily and near water. Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I'll give you a call on my way into work tonight.

I will be attempting some more random city park grows. I got to harvest 2 last year :) So I will put out an ECSD clone, some Cascadia, a Deep Chunk x Johhy Blaze(tks Raco) and a Destroyer x Budlar Balls(tks Raco) and maybe a Willie Nelson.

Hide in plain site....lol Or just behind that big tree.

Spliff - are you worried at all about those Columbians finishing in time? I got to see MrsMs in late Fall and they were still going strong. I admit that even if they came down 3 weeks early after 14-16 weeks flowering that the smoke would still be dynamite!!!

In order to see what they can do I have to put them out in nature. They may not finish but hopefully with a long summer we can at least get close. Got to run to work Nice to hear from you Bro! You comming up again this year?

I actually plan on using 55 gallon plastic barels, and 30 & 50 gallon storage totes this year, in 2-4 different plots.

The in-ground resivour was more of a experiment at trying to build a large resivour on-site, using a maximum of native materials and few imported materials. The idea was to be able to have large resivours deep in roadless areas(wilderness), where dragging 200 gallons worth of garbage cans might be a real pain.
A D-handle shovel, bow saw, hammer, nails, small roll of tin, small roll of hardware cloth, and some sheet plastic all fit in a medium hiking backpack, and are far easier to manuver into difficult places at long distances than large plastic containers.
My mistake with this one was building the test version near lands that were changing hands, and getting some development, but I think it is safe now, and I think I built it good enough to expect a full take of water.

My original test system used a 28 gallon garbage can, with a bulkhead addapter used to conect the hose to the can, after this system was proven effective I built a larger system using my larger open top resivour at my veggie garden, to further test the equipment.

SS-I won't be using true drippers or soakers, I will use ajustable valves at each plant to slow the water and help the timer deal out the same allowance for each plant, at each watering. This can be very important in situations where water supply is fixed, low pressure, and where plants are placed at various levels of elevation or on longer line(these things would cause different flows of water)
My original system used a type of line splitter with ajustable valves for each plants line, but this year I will use a valve at each plant.
Soakers will work in most low pressure systems(I used soakes with this system last year on my sweet corn), but drippers need alot of pressure to work right.

I remember the garbage can test system, was impressive then and I'm even happier you are tuning it in. Tubs are a great idea!

Neptune, anything special going out this year?

I'm itching to get started, I'll start a grow thread when I have planted my first plot, I just want to see my weather stablize a bit better, we've had a few frost warnings here last week, but I hope things will level out soon.

Tubs are better than garbage cans in my opinion because they have a lower profile, being longer than deep they would be easier todig holes for and bury, or cover with brush on the soil surface without being burried. Also totes tend to hold more gallons per dollar of cost than garbage cans.

hey everyone  im back and finally obtained some quality genetics including Cascadia and super G (props to bacchus) as well as a shitload of Alibi f3 and a couple Dark Chronicle ( Serious seeds Chronic x (Lebanese x Swiss Sativa) ). thanks Mrs. M you're far too kind. I will be germing 12 alibi, 8 cascadias, 6 super G's and 4 Dark Chronicle for a grand total of 30 plants. I was wondering if 4 26 watt cfls would be sufficient lighting for all of these seedlings in plastic beer cups. I was planning on growing them to about 6-8 inches before they get the boot to my outdoor location. If anyone has advice dont hold back. thanks a lot and i have learned SOo much already from this forum.

Neptune

I've got 5 holes this year, all dug and ready for FFOF, perlite, and dry amendments.
Dug them over the last week, my biggest holes yet... going wider this year, instead of deeper.

Each hole will recieve one plant:
Salmon Creek Bigbud
Pot of Gold
Arcata Trainwreck
Bubba Dutch SSH
S15

My balcony will have 6 Granddaddy Purple :)
All plants are well vegged and ready to take a flying leap...
So, a total of 11 plants this year!

BorisTheBlaze, :) Alibi, I miss Dr. Jay, he would be proud his baby lives on. Be prepared for monstrous plants this year!

Neptune, when is your time frame for setting plants out? What size hole is bigger? How tall do you vege to? What do you NORMLy bring per a plant?

Mine are small yet but they still have a few weeks.

Nice thread. Umpqua Valley checkin in. I just dropped my first arcata tw into the ground today. The rest of the line-up includes, TGA Vortex, TGA Jack the Ripper, and Space Queen. Deer a real issue for me. So I made chicken wire cages that surround the plants in about a 8foot circle.. Tent staked down. Im preatty sure they will do the trick. :D

Hey Joe! You are one of the closest to my neighborhood I have run into on here! There shouldn't be to many hills between us I figure, I'm pretty central in SW Oregon.
Deer are a huge issue for me too in our dry summer climate, your fence sounds interesting....do you have any pics?

What does the TGA stand for?

Nice birds. :D Kinda funny how they quit comin around come april 15th. :D

Anyways. Here's a pic of my cage I made.

I changed my mind about tent stakes and went ahead and drove some wood stakes in then used bailing type wire to secure the chicken wire to them.
