Howdy gang,

Great pictures everyone and lots of incredible information in this thread. It's got me excited enough to give it a try myself. I'm in SW WA and hoping to try my hand at guerrilla growing this year. I've got a fairly secure spot with a variety of terrain. Steep hills, some swampy drainage areas, small streams and heavily forested older growth evergreens with minimal undergrowth. My question is, if you weren't concerned about rippers, where would you plant? I've been thinking the swampy area but I'm worried about insects.

Also, what strains are the easiest for a complete noob to grow? I've been reading tons of e-books on the topic, but none of them talk about specific strains. I'm hoping for something that won't be expensive when I mess it up during the learning process, and something that won't need me to attend to it every day.

Thanks for the great thread and any input is appreciated.

The 2010 season is pretty much upon us in the PNW. Last year my partner and I got our feet wet with outdoor in the woods of Washington.
Here are some of his babies.

The smoke was good, but without a lot of light they didn't get very big. This year we're planning to plant a few in the open swamps, a couple here and there in the clearcuts. We'll be growing out some genetics from Nirvana seeds; Papaya, Kaya Gold, Afghani and Aurora Indica. Also got some Mandala Safari mix freebies that should be fun.

Hello all, first season here at IC Mag forum, got pointed here by a friend. So it's spring and I went and did some recon in the western Wa area yesterday hunting for a few guerrilla spots. Found some that had some potential, pretty excited. Was thinking of doing the auto flowering ak 47, anyone have any experience with the strain?

 Hello friend, Talktosamson, PNW grower checkin in. I am actually going to do a big patch of auto flowers this year up here too, to insure a good harvest in case the weather is shit like it was out here last year. I am going to run Auto White Russian, Auto Blueberry, and Smurfberry. Looking for an aprox plant time of second week of may, should be done by late july up here. I heard that when put outside autoflower take a week or two longer than when indoors, but they yeild just as well. I have read many threads on auto strains and auto AK looks like a winner. Just stay away from new breeds, lots of the major seed companies have put out "auto" flowers that don't auto, such as this smurfberry I ordered. Stay with established companies that know their auto flowers. I would tell you which to order but my post would just get edited as soon as I did.

I'm in the same area as you, I don't plant until the first week of june, always the chance of frost or hail until then it seems. Hope everything survives well!

Well hello fellow Pacific North Westerners!!! Good luck to everyone this year on a safe and successful outdoor grow! Get them pictures up (just remember to be careful about showing any landmarks or sure signs of where you are... LEO and thiefs... they lurk for sure)

Thanks for reviving the thread spindlywicket! Nice plants, small but very pretty green girls! I love seeing new people getting out in the woods and getting their grow on....Good luck this year!

p.s. I think you'll end up enjoying the Mandala Safari Mix much more than any of the Nirvana gear. Tried a lot of Nirvana, not going to knock them... but I'll say this. I've only found 1 girl worthy of breeding with (and it was JUST THE SMELL I wanted to breed into a better tasting/looking more potent line) It was a Chrystal mom... my 3rd ever grow and I found this overwhelming grape juice concentrate smell. You know frozen can that you add water with to make grape juice... it smelled like you put your nose in that can of concentrate. So ridiculous..... I've managed to get the smell into a better line now through selective breeding, however the smell is only as intense in certain stages of flower. It seems to sour off (think sour grapes) as it drys and cures. (I'm just an infant to the breeding scene... I'll get it!)

I'm going to try and insert the grape smell into this line of mine next...

So I have had the last few years off from outdoor of any kind, greenhouse, guerilla or backyard. I sure miss seeing a plant get all it needs from nature and grow into a huge tree. I am stuck indoors with a small 250 watt hps.

Peace, SSSSpaceman SSSpliff
