Hey cool to see you doing your first solo grow. Great looking set up for a first time. Yeah the light might be a lil too close. You might be able to cut a hole on top of that cab the size of your reflector and sit the hood on top of the hole to give you some more grow area. Just a thought. You will lose the stealthness though.

yeah i gotta keep the stealthyness, i am thinking about ordering a CMH bulb, heard you can get alot closer to plants without burning em. i wonder how close to a 400w you can get without burning?

There is glass on my hood. Cuts down on the heat drastically and allows my girlies to get closer to the bulb.

I would also be concerned with the heat you are going to generate in there

By CMH you mean those low profile MH bulbs? They will actually throw more heat than the standard, due to less surface area to diffuse the heat
You also may want to get some sort of training method to keep your plants in check, looks like you are going to run out of space very quickly.

But your first grow is always exciting, good luck!!

yeah CMH is ceramic metal halide, ive read the exact opposite, on the CMH thread they say that CMH throws less heat and you can get your plants closer. im working on a heat shield idea now so i think i will go with that. as far as training i got that covered, as soon as these guys get to their 4th node they will begin LST and when they get a certain height i already have my scrog screen ready to assemble. thanx for stoppin by dog.

Looking good Pirate. I agree that I think that heat may be your main issue here, but it's still early enough to work it out. All the best luck with your grow.

The shield on my hood is made out of glass. It was heavy so it couldnt of been plexi. It really cuts down on the heat. I also have a fan sucking air through the hood to cool the bulb.

yeah my temps fluctuate between 78-88 with the light on, im thinkin im gona buy a piece of thin glass or plexi and wedge it under my light, i know i will lose a little light or lumens or whatever but i wana combat the heat and bulb burn. thanx for stoppin by krome, your the man!

ok so i have begun to LST for the first time, i also FIMed (first time). im wondering how long im going to have to veg these to get 2 oz's off each. im feeding them 3 tablespoons of budswell grow tea per gallon. i need some Liquid karma but dont have the cash. i ordered some cal-mag plus shud be in soon (i know its 3x as strong as indicated). the 2 noncheese orphans arent doing much, slight reveg but very slow. heres a few pix of some LST BB cheese.

2oz per plant is kinda high for your 1st grow and the size box you're using. I only got 7oz off 5 plants my first grow under a 400. They're looking good, but I'd try to get them a little greener before you start flowering. It looks like the might have a Mag or Ca deficiency, but you might want to make a post in the infirmary for more help there.

Hey Pirate. I would have to agree with Dr. Suess. I would get em looking a little lusher before going into flower with em. If you want to simplify things the best way possible, I would get some floranova and go with it. It doesn't get any easier and the results speak for themselves. You could use flora nova with no other additives and come out looking lovely. Think about it for your next run possibly. Also, what kind of soil are you using? If you're unable to get some promix, which would be my first choice, home depot has Lambert's that works really well also. A little extra perlite to the mix and that's all you need. Promix+flora nova= success.
