Philips 315w CDM Elite (CMH)

Wow, I did some quick research and they have a phenomenal spectrum for their 942 Agro. I'd say better than a DE 315w CMH bulb.

BUT , like philips (t12) anyway , it states right on the lamp "UV block" . Both philips and ushio. The solis lamp advertises more UV and says nothing of uv blocking. I run all of the above but depending on outcome may stick with solis. It's the most expensive but with more UV.

Why do you want that much UV?

What lamp do you think is the best for all round growing? Solis, Ushio, or Philips based on their specs.

None of the above, if summer weren't coming I'd run the allstart 860 year round. On a digital LFSW ballast the allstart 860 is my choice.
Personally I don't want more uv but plants don't mind a little more.

So now it would come down to support, hats off to philips for warranty, not sure how long their warranty is but my hydro shop boy said a year, I had a 942 fry on me after a year and a half of light usage. They replaced it.

I haven't run the 4200k , the 3000k appears right up there with the rest. Perhaps all 942 or similar run the same.

You might want to reconsider.

Now take a look at the allstart 860.

Yeah, hard to beat that all in all. But I would personally prefer (If I needed so many plants) to have 3x315W CDM lamps than one 860W one. There's also quite a bit of waste in the green spectrum also; but, the spectrum is pretty great nonetheless.

To each his own.

I thought someone came to the conclusion a little green does more good than harm.
I'd prefer two OG hoods running alllstart 860s on hortilux platinum (or soon sunplix) LFSW ballast on a lightrail.
But yes, to each his own.

My OG hoods convert to 315 cdm very easily. I'll switch them out during hot/cold seasons. Right now it should be warming up although I think I could have squeezed those allstarts in without adding to the cooling. I do like the way the 315s run very cool.

My understanding of the green portion of the spectrum is that it does little or nothing until the plant's red and blue receptors are maxed out, and at that point it will be utilized by the plant.

I read the 860's can only be run vertically is that true? that would limit there use a lot. I also read they work on 1kw Magnetic Ballasts?. These dont require a LFSWB to run properly?

Correct. Vert only. They're built as power saving screw in replacements for standard 1000w MH lamps w/ mag ballasts & are open fixture rated.

Mag ballasts do not do this lamp justice.
LFSW digital are the only way to run this lamp to it's potential.

That's something to consider if your going to use those. Having a bulb that fires on both is a bit concerning to me. There is a reason the 315's wont work on standard digi/mag ballast. I will stay with 315's.

Not sure on that, pretty much makes the green leds on my old welthink wex150 silly if so.
