Gavita reflector.

Gavita reflector.

Here is a pgz in a gavita reflector I built. I was surprized that all I had to do is mount the pgz base to an squre electrical box and mount it to the side of the reflector. The spacing was perfect on the bulb. I also had to trim the lip on the end and fold it down. This caused a weak spot but while hanging it does not affect it. Next one will get a thin plate rivited to the weak side then the box. You can see the box hanging down about a half inch or so. I will adress this on the next one I do. Be relocating the pgz base lower on the electric box which will make it harder to do. as the holes for the two wires are there drilled allready just had to wallow them out a bit and drill two extra holes to mount the pgz base to the box. Oh and it is working on a 15ft cord toboot and it was manufactured after the date code which says to only run 6ft go figure! Hope Im not harming anything. Very cheap to build also 30 bucks for the gavita a couple for the ele box a few rivits a cord set 25 bucks a 130 buck ballast 70 buck lamp So a round 250 to 275 bucks not bad for a budget build.

Phantom reflectors have the option to air cool them. Just need 2 6" adapter.. The plants under the 630 LEC are doing great. I had to reduce the amount of plants to 4 in the tent. That LEC takes up a good 12" of head space. I have the same strain in the main flower room to compare. They all should be done at the same time.

Krunch, do you know if they are using the Philips ballast? It will accept an input range from 200-277v. Solely 277v would seem to be a pretty odd choice to lead off with since it would require a 277/480v, 3-phase service. Pretty exclusive company.

Not sure the ballast they are using, I will ask next week...

They released the 277 first for the commercial growers, but in a few more weeks they will have other voltages for us common folk...

are you guys having that much trouble with heat using these? i found the lec ran a lot cooler. how manny watts/sq ft are guys trying to cram?

between 40 and 60 w pr sq ft should do you imo
i have no issues with heat, but that's not to say i don't need to ventilate the area when it's properly lit. in a 4x4 tent one 315w CMH only needs a 6 inch fan (maybe 2, if im getting fancy) to keep the room in a happy range of temps

I'm running ~45w/ft2 in a 5x9 tent w/open luminaires. It takes 2-6" maxpros exhausting, and 2-6" maxfans on intake to maintain reasonable temps with the lights on(77-84F).

thats what I was thinking I have a can 30 with a 6 inch max pulling out of a 4*4 tent with 1 315. passive intake and 1 small fan for air movement. Lung room is kept at 72 degrees. everyone is happy.

Same setup with 2 315s in a 4*4 and an 8" max fan everyone is happy.

btw the 2 315's are over ONE fat guava that seems happy as a pig in shit. Im really excited.

Sounds to me like they misfired a bit about their target audience. The most common commercial voltage in the US is 120/208. 277/480 is usually limited to industrial facilities where there are lots of motors involved.

quick update.
i swapped out my hps with the 315w LEC retrofit kits.
So far, so good!
i like the penetration i'm seeing. it's also nice to get rid of that terrible hps glow.
They run so much cooler too, i have shut my a/c off for now, temps never go any higher that 83.
i can live with that until the summer comes rolling in.
Pretty much cut my amperage in 1/2 and saving on cooling costs too.
Once stock is replenished, i'm buying another for my tent.
Then i'm going to put one in veg, i don't know if i want to get another reto kit with a 4200k and buy a cheap hood at a local shop or buy a grobal dist unit.
i like their price @ $320, anybody using them yet with comments?

Well, I picked up a nanolux 315, It did seem much more intense when comparing it to a MH 250 I got for my veg area. IR gun readings for reflector were 88F, and 100 for the ballast. Weight was reasonable, only 6 lb's for the setup.

Took a bit longer to get to full intensity. Other than that heat seemed about the same as say a 250 MH.

My only concern was the guys at the shop were saying "foxtailing" or CMH seems to cause this. But this was supposedly a friend that had problems with CMH doing this.

I dunno, I threw a few girls under the light so I'm curious to see what happens.

Have not encountered the foxtailing issue. It's almost always due to a sudden change in nutrients, like flushing or high temperatures.
