Also thinking about the phantom reflectors. What does open fixture have over enclosed air cooled?

Enclosed fixtures lose "some" light due to transmission losses through the glass. The glass can also act as an impediment to UV if that is a concern. For me, the ability to more easily duct the heat out of the grow area outweighs the potential glass losses. Also, I've found that the heat gained by the tent from 315's in enclosed fixtures is substantially less than when I was running fairly-equivalently sized LED fixtures.

I just had a 20 min conversation with the owner of advancedtechlighting.com. long story short, they will be getting all of my future orders, as well as anyone else that asks for my advice. He may have had some issues in the past with late shipments, but he has gone above and beyond to correct them. My order was placed on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and arrived today. This is a solid company trying to provide a quality product at a fair price.

Fuck Sunlight supply's LEC. Fuck hyrdofarms phantom. He broke down their designs to me. Garbage in the long haul. Buy the Philips ballast, a step up transformer, and a quality air cooled hood.

From my understanding, sun systems uses the philips ballasts. I think thats why they were one of the first ones on the scene with the new bulbs. Took awhile for the phantoms to come out cause they wanted to make sure they got their shit certified before putting it out on the market. CE, FCC, UL, a couple others maybe.

You wanna piece together a gerry rigged set up with a bulky step up transformer and live with that for five to seven years or whatever. Fine. Me? I've got my Phantom ballast running with zero regrets.

When a grower steps up to more that a few 315 fixtures operating at one time then 240v operation is pretty much mandatory. Following the 80% rule, a standard 15A 120v circuit will run 4 units, & a 20A 120v circuit will handle 5. Double that at 240v & eliminate step up transformers at the same time.

Any recommended reflectors? The phantom will be a bit expensive to outfit 3 lights.
Also all my lamps have been open so what kind of fan would I need to vent 3?

This isn't a rinky dink operation. He sells thousands of systems to warehouses and such. He could give 2 fucks about my one light.

Hi KingSkillz, email: [email protected], 336 504 9643, Brian Long, 305 S Union Blvd, Unit F 1060, Denver, CO 80228. They must be super busy it can take a few days before emails are answered, but the equipment is the real deal. Also, Brian Long's phone mailbox was full last time I tried to call. To me, I treat it like a seed order from a trusted seedbank, order, then forget because I know it's coming. First they send you an invoice, then you send the money, then the unit took about 4 days to get here. I used a c card. Good Luck

You're correct. The sunlight supply does use the same philips ballast. And guess what, they also have a step Up transformer mounted inside the unit. So you've got a ballast, transformer, and lamp inside the unit with no way cool it. Doesn't sound too smart to me.

And why is properly wiring a ballast "gerry rigging". What do you think these units looks Iike when you open them up? Do you think they have electricians assembling these things?

The air cooled kit for my phantom came in, but the hood itself is still on back order. I have been able to complete some testing on a single greenbeam in a 3x3 tent. I'll be running similar tests on the phantom, with and without the air-cooled kit, as soon as it arrives. If you're interested in my test results so far, they can be found in the c/g owners thread: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=7455869#post7455869 If you grow in a tent, I STRONGLY advise you to take a look at my results.

Hoping to have results for the phantom and my 6-light c/g system up by next weekend, but I'm at the mercy of my retailer for the phantom.

Good info man. My flower room uses panda plastic, wonder how that compares to orca, im guessing its something close, since they both seem to be kinda flat white. Lookin forward to seeing your comparisons with the other brands.

Panda claims 90%. As you can see from the orca chart, 90% of what wavelengths is the real question. I suspect that panda really performs closer to black/white poly on the orca chart. FWIW,Panda is listed as 5.5mil black/white poly.

As otis mentioned, keeping your reflective walls tight are important to running these lights. Thats easier said than done, depending on ones current space, or if your not lighting the entire room. I've found Wide pull down blinds/shades mounted to the ceiling covered in your choice of reflective material handy. A quick tug and you will have easy access to every square ft of your beds, while maintaining maximum wall reflectability insuring every watt from the 315's are utilized! You can always add another bulb later if you feel needed to cover your 3 x 15 beds. I would do 5 from the jump!

Those pull-down shades sound like a great way to do it. I've been using those 1-inch-thick foam boards (2' x 4') that you find in hardware stores over with the insulating materials. I hang them from chains, then just move them to work. But. pull-downs are definitely a better idea. Nice one!

I'm vegging a 5x5 with a phantom too and it's packed with lush green plants wall to wall. I plan on filling my cmh flower room with phantoms as well.

You hit the nail on the head. That is the problem he does not give a fuck about your one or two lights. So that means he does not give a fuck about me or you!! That is why he is the way he is. And will keep on not giving a crap about the little guy who needs a couple lites.

Have you bought from him? Or spoke with him? He has his phone number posted on his site that rings to every phone in his house, office, and cell. Call him at any time and see if he's not willing to answer any questions you have. He has suffered a lot of misfortunes recently. He now has a distributor that handles shipping. Philips themselves set this up for him since he means so much to them. He still over sees quality tho. He recently rejected 5,000 lamps from Philips because he wasn't satisfied with them. He recently had a lamp blow up in his face that put him in the hospital so he's not taking any chances with his customers safety.

I made a mistake putting down sunlight supply and hydrofarm in my recent post. It doesn't really matter what I think about them
My main objective was to give ATL a good review after reading so many negatives. I stand by my statements as far as his commitment to providing quality at a fair price.

I hope that clears some of this up

Sorry
