Philips 315w CDM Elite (CMH)

Has anyone done any spectral analysis on the CMH lamps under dimmable conditions?

If I could I would love to use a Dimlux 630w at 50% wattage for veg, with 4200K lamps and then switch to 3100k lamps and turn up the dial to 120%...

Kinda crazy yields, I'd expect.

Plus another 2 bills for lamps that aren't included.
Runs it right up there with all the other players gear.

The lamps aren't that expensive, and their longevity is unparalleled. At the end of the day, it depends on what you're trying to get out of your setup. I'd think better growth and increased resin production would offset the ~$70 worth of investment of a 630w setup...

Yes I know but around two bills is getting close IF you buy local and pay sales taxes and support mom and pop like I do.
I just walked out of my fave mom and pop hydro shop the other day with a solis tek 315 3200K lamp for 85 bux , 2 lamps would have been close enough for my bank account to round it off to 2 bills.

As much as i would like to support local stores, and mind you, I've considered opening my own lighting store for MMG's exclusively composed of CMH setups and powdered nutrient formulas instead of liquid and overpriced brand names, at the end of the day you can't compete with market forces such as economies of scale.

If you figure out how to, then hats off to you.

The reasons I choose to shop local on lighting is support. Of course I have plenty of backup in case something like a ballast goes out but if I bought that ballast from the mom and pop I shop at and in broke and I was in a spot they'd loan me a ballast until the warranty was straightened out on the ballast I bought from them, try that with an ebay seller or even amazon, ain't happen.

i wouldnt say all that im being smartly handled on some nanolux fixtures by an online store.

side note im feeling you on these companies trying to look like a lower price by not including the bulbs, thats low

recently bought t atl kits and the both ballast ended up not working or stopped working within 2 days. smh they where hooked up to the same 240v source as the my first atl ballast from 4 months ago wich is still running strong.

on a side no my phillip ballast gets warm but not hot. my vertigro hoods stay cool to the touch

I'd like to enquire about how the cycloptics ballasts perfom, anyone running that particular ballast?
Up until a year ago they sourced from Welthink.

I have seen good reports on cycloptics ballast. I'll try 2 hoods if the reflector maintains its reflectivity % rating long enough. But I don't see myself paying more for their ballast though.

They have used damned near everything available at one time or another, including Philips, GEL (CeramaTek), Welthink, and whatever the new one is.

I was wondering; how far above the canopy people are running their lamps, and if they're changing the distance from veg to flower? I run my hoods ~20" above in flower, which seems to work well. I'm still working on a good height for vegging plants. FWIW I'm running 930's

This is my first time flowering with them. I am about20" in veg. I vegged this plant kinda big, but I wanted to see how deep these penetrate the canopy. The plant's tops got with in 6-8" from the bulb ( I removed the glass from the sun system lec fixture), with no burn or stress. The plant stretched to+/- 4.5' and produced dense buds pretty much all the way down.

I'm really impressed with these lights in bloom. I am going to be adding a few more to this room and am now considering adding a couple to the gavita flex room under construction as I have an hps on the far end of this room and the frost is even more intense where anot her plant is getting both lights. The plants pictured are only lit by the cmh and are still very frosty...more than previous runs. I was not expecting a 315 to penetrate as deep or produce the mass it did. I will add that this rooms environment is head and shoulders above the hps room I have to compare with right now.
