Call me weird, but I always like to sow directly in the medium these days. I feel that it creates a more natural and solid taproot structure.

I feel like it gives her a good head start in life.
Like a baby in an incubator.

It's kind of a habit too.
I've always done it that way.

It really grew overnight.

The taproot was actually a bit bigger than I like.
The longer it is the more chance I have of damaging the root.

That's about the size I drop mine into coco at.

I feel like you run a much higher risk of dampening off that way.

I've never had a problem with that except for those seeds that didn't germinate or crack open.

I use distilled water, clean paper towels, and I wash everything before I start a seed, then I plant it in new grow media.

I'm going to be really careful with my spritzing while she gets established.

I'm giving the shell little spritzes to help keep it soft so she can shed it easier.
