Line a couple of these up on a power strip...
They have them in the back of the lighting department at homedepot for sure...
(its in a section in the back of lighting that has miscelaneous lamp parts hanging)
i cant find them on the website but they usually go for 3 bucks a piece i think.

Throw in some CFLs (make sure they are small enough to fit inside PC) and mount
the entire power strip with heavy duty Velcro for easy height adjustment

If you read up quite a few posts back someone else has pictures somewhere in
this thread using the very same simple concept

That's my next big purchase.

Being that the PC Microgrow is evolving at a rate that rivals even Moore's law ironically enough. Has anyone had anymore of a thought of using LED's. I know in the past LED ideas get shutdown. But PC Microgrows are the way of the future. And if I'm not mistaken, I think LED's have almost no issues with heat. I know the LED's are expensive and not as efficient as CFL's, but couldn't the right set up make for a more trouble-free growing experience.

little help

little help

I am looking for a good plant to put into a 19 inch case, Also some thing easy to take care of because its my first grow.

just out of curiosity Korga you are talkin 19" with what kind of light and what
kind of growing medium (hydro/soil?)

I used a bag seed my first grow because it was free and readily available :joint:

The good thing was it was disposable, the bad was it needed to be sexxed...
however when it comes to picking a nice plant its hard to say because you will
be training in some way or another inside that PC so just about any femal with
proper training is a good start!

hey

hey

I am doing a soil grow and the 19 is without the lights put in, i am going to be doing LST just to let you know. I am probably planting a lowryder x ak47 or a dwarf variety unless there is another that someone can suggest another good strain for this grow. At the stores around here i have found a 42 watt cfl that would be good for the flowering stage but not enough lumens for veg stage. Could a few 26 watts do the trick, i was thinking like 3.

I think the 23w should suffice in veg, I currently use four 23w to veg my 6 or so plants for the first four weeks, also what will you be using to cool these lights?

Can't wait too see some pics...

I have 2 case fans that will cool the case, so the reg 23 watt bulbs at walmart will work? The ones that area vailable are the energy saving ones. What should i use for the flowering stage, I also am not ordering my lights online i prefer to go to a hardware store or walmart

Hi Korga!
You could also skip the vegging stage completely and go from seed straight to 12/12! that should keep the plants (whatever strain you're using) a lot smaller and easier to train.
For flowering you should use the 2700K CFL-s and the 23W bulbs will most likely work.

Ya flowering from seedling isn't a bad idea, it will save you on light bulb costs and keep plants small
Cool blue cfls for veg.
Warm cfls for flower.
You can also get bright white cfls, they aren't as effective as the cool blue and warm but will work for the whole grow

Ok guys, there will soon be another member in your pc growers club!

Anyways, here's the pc:

pc_no_cf.jpg

It's rather small with dimensions of 6" x 15.6" x 17.2"(HEIGHT)
(or 15x38x43 in cm)
I'm still working on the carbon filter as it's a must but I've already made the plans and seeking for the materials.

The case has 2(as you can see) pc fans - 1 for intake and 1 for exhaust (they're both 3" or 80mm ones). The whole runs with 3x23W 2700K CFL-s(4500lumens total - so that's roughly 9000lumens per square foot) as I'm planning on running 12/12 straight from seed to keep the plants as short as possible since i only have around 11" of growing height.
I made a prototype of the carbon filter just to see how the temps would stay and it was at 25.4 'C (around 77F) with the lights on for about 5hours. I guess they will go up a bit once there's something in there and the proper filter.

So now comes the question part:

1) In the beginning I planned on growing 2 plants in there (for the purpose of seed making later down the road since they're really hard to get where I live) in SOIL although I'm starting to rethink that there just might not be enough space for 2 plants? Should I go with 2 or just 1?

2) the legendary training question - What would be the best option for either 1 or 2 plants? I really liked how mr. micro's Nanomachine's (really thank you for all the inspiration! :canabis: ) ScrOG worked however LST-ing would also work? What would you choose?

3) If you could choose a strain to grow there, what would it be? (besides lowryders?) I personally have looked towards Top44 or Northern Lights if I somehow manage to get some anywhere, any ideas on that?

Thanks in forward,
peace :joint:

My plans are to put two mid cases together to get a bigger yield. The box will be 40x40x40cm and i am wondering whitch light is reasonable to put in it? I was planing to put some 2x 120mm vent in the back and 2 or 3 80-92cms in the back. Will be 150w MH for vegging too and 150W HPS for flowering too much for that box? What about the CFLs? are thet that good as HPS or MH?

PC make Great cloners/vegbox's, i'm about to take this spare antec lanboy case i got and make me a badass clone box, my other full tower pc is full of vegging clones i'm just really stoned and need to remind me tomorow to finish gathering supplys and get it done. for clones in the pc i just use 1 23 watt clf and a homemade hummidity dome (2 clear rubbermaid shoe boxes) wheres my tape and spare power strips again : /

I just did an orange kush LST grow in my flower box and got almost an ounce...these little stealth pc grow boxes work well... I have one lowryder growing right now and should be ready to harvest in about a week. Has anyone grown in a hydroponic system like the one in the picture below? Im thinking about trying a hydro grow next time.

Here's my case. Sorry if the pictures are a little blurry, damn cellphone cameras.

At the moment, I have 4 plants that went 12/12 from seed and they're a few weeks into flowering, unsure of the exact date. They all came from bag seed. I started out with 7, 1 wilted and died after I topped it and I have no idea why, the other one for some reason stopped growing after it reached it's 2nd or 3rd node, and the last one was a male that I'm about to axe in 15 minutes.

And a few pictures of my ladies.

i've had mine done for about 8 days now...made mine out of an older case i had, not too tall, 17.5 inches, but i have a 24 inch server tower coming via UPS guy tomorrow. I want to harvest every four to six weeks, so i have designed a system of three dif cases...small-ish - medium - large. as the plant grows it moves from case to case...i'm a bit of a techie nerd and have had cases in my house for years so no one would be suspicious of all the iron.

anyways, i put a little plant i started in the aerogarden (dont go there) and had transplanted to soil...and another one thats about 6 days old....still need to do the carbon filter....and final placement for the lights (currently they are hanging using hanger wire around the bases, but I need to move them to horizontal at the top - hanging works for now) and a fan up front to draw air in. temps aren't too bad, depends on where i have the thermometer...two-three inches from bulb about 94 degrees...six inches from bulb about 80 (that is of course with lights on), most of the rest of the case is nicely cool. I even put a web cam in there (not sending out to internet though) so I can monitor when i am home :) The software I use also makes a movie automatically each day as the captures are saved...so I have a little video history of my kids growing up :)

i have to tell ya though (cuz I have no one else to tell as I have not told a soul what i am doing and will not tell anyone I know what i'm doing - except you fine people here) the first one definately suffered from an identity crisis - am i hydro or am i soil?? That's my fault. But her growth is really slow and stunted...she's at almost three weeks and she looks like other plants on here i've seen at ten days or less.

I cant upload pics yet...and I dont have a flickr acct...but perhaps i'll rectify that soon...

peace
