The smell from the Panama buds is enchanting! I can't think of the right word, but it smells like lemon pledge or something. My nostrils love it!!! Can't wait!!! My yield would have definitely been better if I would have TOPPED the plant, but I just wanted to see what Panama would do on its own....Next time I will definitely top and train to increase yield. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PLANT !! I wish there was a way that I could HUG that damn plant without damaging it! It radiates LOVE !!!....

Panama

Well I've been toking on a bit of early picked Panama Fem buds. I was expecting Panama to be the bridesmaid , to Zamaldelica , Malawi and Golden Tiger. But she has really impressed me with its potency.Very heady, but seems to have Good body relaxation. Really is good quality cannabis strain. Not only good potency , but a very impressive yield . Great structure , stability and mold resistance

Nice shots there Holeshot and Hmong. I've been lurking on the ACE forum for over a year now and am pleased to say that I have just popped my first batch of ACE seeds. I germinated a 12 pack of Panama a few days ago. All came up super fast, although about half of them were slow to shed their shells. I got a bit worried as I had this happen with Kali Mist and lost a couple plants so I pried off the shells of the last 4 seedlings. Was delicate work but managed it without damage apart from tearing of one of the cotyledons off one plant.

Does anyone know why the seedlings sometimes won't cast off their shell? Are there environmental causes? I've never had it happen before.

I've noticed that if I don't plant the seeds deep enough some will need help casting the shell. I think it's the seedling moving through the medium that helps shed the shell, so if it's not deep enough................ But the occasional seed even planted deep will do this too, but not near as many in my experience. Sometimes adding a bit more coco or whatever when you see the shell still attached just coming through the surface will work to help shed the shell.

I need to pick up this ACE panama way!

Looks so nice! An oldtimer ie my friends dad raves about the old Panama Red all the time this would make a great suprise for the oldtimer.

He tells us that he bought a lid and his fat room mate in college whom didnt smoke couldnt get high and then proceeded to smoking the entire lid with him only to get totally messed up! The lid was gone but both got screwed up big time!

I totally agree with that. I have had a few dramas with seed shells not shedding. I wasn't putting them down deep enough . I use coco too, which I don't think puts a lot of resistance against the seeds shell. Not like soil.

Thanks Mick and Holeshot. I used Simon from Serious Seeds germination method. This involves germinating in paper towel in a snap-lock bag that is hung vertically so that the tap root grows straight down. The seed is then planted at the top of the hole made for the tap root so that it is half out of the media. Have a look on the Serious Seeds website under the frequently asked questions if you are curious. From what you guys ate saying, it looks like this method caused the problem. I didn't use it for the Kali Mist but the problem was worse this time. I do t think I'll be germinating with this method again.

All 12 of my Panama seedlings are doing well though, even the one I taw a cotyledon off. These seem like they may be the most vigorous plants I've grown.

hey bossy i agree with mick and holeshot. i always had troubles with the paper towel method myself so what i do now is drop in a glass of water for about 12hrs then plant straight into the jiffy pellet inside a jiffy pot. ive had zero transplant shock on my plants since i started using the jiffy pots. i know everyone has their own way to do things and there is more then 1 way to skin a cat,but the way i skin it works great for me and alot less stress from me having to worry, which means alot to me.

i've had "helmetheads" since sprouting mexican brickseed (arizona) in the 80's, it seems endemic to all strains and environs to me, ymmv :p

advice: if you get a stuck one, put a drip of water on your fingertip and let it contact so a bead collects, let it soak in for a few minutes so the gummy liner thingy is soft and slippery instead of stuck. maybe you can slide it off without surgery then.

my other advice if you want it.. :p i germ (after soak) in a small jar with perlite in it. the water level is below the perlite so the seeds aren't sitting in the wet. then if the radical gets stuck to a grain of perlite, it's no issue when you plant it to soil. that's usually the 2nd 24 hours of plant lifecycle.

Welcome mcoocoo,

Panama works great in a wide range of temps, from quite high outdoor summer temps to colder conditions at the end of flowering.

Recommended temperatures to achieve the best outcome are around 25-27ºC during the day and a bit lower 22-24ºC during the night. But many growers have finished her in colder outdoor conditions with great results.

Hope it helps!
Hello Dubi, Thank you for the reply. I have another question that I really need help with. How long should a Panama grown indoors, under 600 watts of CFL lights be flowered for ? It states that it flowers in 9-12 weeks, so I was thinking about 10.5 weeks ? I really need to know, so that I can start to flush at the right time. I believe that it is a green pheno, but it does have some pink pistils. In your opinion do you think 10.5 weeks is long enough ?

i over -N'd a bit,

smell is kind of mulched chilli plant / coffee been / bleech (?) with underlying eucalyptus or something ???.

it is not fruity or skunky, or make me happy, sad or energetic etc.

just REALLY spaced out.

i can't even describe why i like it so much, it's like the "negatives" are the "positives" ?

running again now, though, the only plant from last harvest <

thanks dubi!!
