week 12, and not quite finished!

week 12, and not quite finished!

When i first stumbled across this thread of my fellow fans of the rojo, i was amazed when i read some folks blooming beyond 12 weeks..
i was too excited to try this after seeing a few pictures that showed colors that I thought "that is a f@%in beautiful flower - almost too pretty to smoke.." and then I read nothing but all star reviews of the experience she provided.. i was all in... i bought 10 seeds hoping to get a couple male and female with the nicest genetics to make some seeds for myself.. I can't remember what it was, but something personal happened with them just after i germinated them - and i ended up losing all 10.. i went back to the vendor site i got them from, told them about my loss and we completed another trade with a an extra couple seeds thrown in for my sad luck.. when these ones arrived, i was too anxious to get these kids going - due to the extended harvest time i was reading about - and without the appropriate amount of equipment I decided i will just grow them all in one big pot, since I planned to breed them.. I discovered shortly after that epiphany was a bad idea, like many others, and gathered more soil and containers as fast as my income allowed.. i ended up getting 8 to germinate which turned into seedlings quite quickly. a thin wallet is a poor characteristic when you know what is required to make those ladies bloom perfect, but I was too anxious/eager to see some buds of my own wearing that purple/red.. i had nothing but a ph meter, and some lime to lower the ph.. then i stumbled on a post on reddit about mega crop.. and i was in love.. one product, ph balanced, with cal mag, used through the whole cycle.. so i purchased their one option - lifetime supply - 9.9 kg. i am a BIG fan of this stuff.. best nutrient i have encountered, mostly because of the proof it has shown me and the ease of use. i didn't expect a feminized pack.. i tried some colloidal silver, and some other unsuccessful black magic fuckery attempt to get a male, and then patiently waited. i was too eager, and two of the plants didn't look so great so i chopped them for some flowers that i knew weren't done, but i thought were close enough, and used the rest for some hash.. i made a comment then becauase i didn't understand how some folks were blooming these girls for more than 10 weeks.. i cut some of mine at 9, thinking they were a week early.. but then, i saw two of the girls turn straight savage, and start sprouting more white pistils... all of them starting to show the diamonds they brought to the party.. I haven't seen more herb than most people, but I'm far from my rookie days - this is by far the most resin i have seen on flowers! I'm a little sad that I didn't get any red pheno, and didn't get any males, but i realized shortly after that I can buy a breeders pack cure my itch! And i certainly will.. i've tried some of the flower i cut (which was far from being 'done' ) and it is really great herb.. laughter about nothing in particular seems to be a common theme. i'm a fan. here she is today, week 12.. and finally at the point she's ready for flush. I will be putting her back into veg after i take the fruits of my labor down, and have her go round 2, or more! ice on the fringe is so damn frosty, people like 'damn.. that's a cold ass honky' - most resin I have seen on any previous grow. Thanks to ACE and mega crop. I'll be back for the breeders pack as soon as i can!

^ ‘that’s a cold ass honky’ had me dying laughing.

I certainly hope you didn’t smoke the stuff you sprayed with CS.

It is bad for your health.

Sorry to hear your troubles, but glad to hear about your perseverance.

Personally, the green ones are really nice man. I mean, there are a lot of good plants in any given pack of panama. Just don't discount the "green" because she isn't as "pretty" as her sisters, she got a heart of gold.

Congrats on an upcoming harvest, all the best.

I dropped that line from the song Thrift shop by Macklemore.. it seemed fitting with the "ice on the fringe" part, and the rest is just hilarious :dance013:

The images I saw are what initially brought me on the search, but then after chatting with someone online they told me about the different pheno types, and told me they very significantly in the way they make you feel.. ya, the color is cool, but the effect is what I'm after! The green is incredible! I'm anxious to try the red someday!

Do the pink pistils of the "red" phenos of Panama stay pink after cure?
Are they pink inside or only under the sun?

now this is confusing.. i set the last 3 plants outside a few weeks ago, and they passed 16 weeks flowering yesterday, but i found one plant is showing red pheno type traits a few days ago.. they are probably moving back into vegetation mode with the hours of light they get outside now - but how can a plant change pheno type so late in the flower cycle?

She is in veg, I can tell from the top leaves. If your going to re-veg her you should probably do it soon and take some bud. Leave some small branches on the bottom that you want to keep, if you flushed, give her nitrogen and try to get her more light, 24 hours if you can under flouros is fine, not too intense. I don't usually reveg, I keep clones.
Good job doing the research when you ran into problems. Don't be afraid to ask questions after researching; good growers on here (I'm not one of them, so don't listen to me) that love to help.
Nice job on your first panama, especially with limited resources. Love the pretty pink pistils. Don't sweat the small mistakes, it's amazing how much you can learn from a grow. You will never stop learning from every grow, that is the best part of growing cannabis. Congratulations my friend
Peace, God bless

I meant to tell you, if you want to keep them in flower longer, bring them in early to a dark place to limit their light, but it might be late for that. I have some in the greenhouse that are so close to harvest I can almost taste them, but 13 1/2 hours of light a day and they have been going back into veg for the past couple of weeks. I'm hoping the flush will starve them enough that they won't have the nutrients to grow too much more. I would like to see them go another week, but they are too tall for me to be lugging them in and out each night. I hope you keep us updated, they are gorgeous flowers.
Peace, God bless

High people !
First, I think it is you I have to thank to for my newest arrivals, Dubi :biglaugh: <3 I used to chat with someone from ACE on e-mail, but I don't know whether it was you. Anyway, muchas gracias! :thank you:
I just received 4 Panama Fem seeds and I seek some growing advice from those of you who had time to experience with this strain. I am pretty new to the cannabis growing scene so I naturally have some concerns related to the conditions I should provide to my tropical guests so they would make themselves at home.
I will grow them outdoors in a greenhouse with diffuse plastic film on top. Latitude here is approx. 44.37 N, and the climate is Temperate-Continental with high temperatures in the summer of up to and sporadically over 36°C (~96,8 F). My soil is of the very dark almost black type, very fertile as proven by all the other crops I grow every year. Also we have lots of direct sunlight.
I wish to know:
- what should be the pH of the soil for optimal nutrient absorbing.
- can I use any of wild weeds/grass compost, worm cast, wood/wild weeds ash, parrot poop, food leftovers or fish intestines which I have successfully used for other crops in the past as fertilizer for this strain of cannabis?
- what should be the proper temperature and humidity
- can I add CO2 gas to the greenhouses atmosphere?
- does it tolerate well high and low stress training techniques?
- how much space should there be between each individual plant?

grew panama this past summer and she handled high temps like a champ, sometimes over 41C. She also stretched like a mofo, so I had to supercrop her, even split her hollow stem. Again, she handled the supercropping and taped stem split like a champ, so yours should handle any kind of training, high or low stress.

I grew a cut of her the following winter, and she lagged big time in veg and her root dev was poor compared to the summer run. Only diff was the much lower temps.

It consistently puts me on one of those "cleaning highs" that people talk about. This realization made me start perceiving the effects of this variety in a different way than I've payed attention to cannabis effects before, and that is, I now see that this is basically Adderall herb! Seriously! I am prescribed Adderall for my ADHD, and I don't take it anymore because the medicinal effects of it require dealing with the amphetaminey side effects of it, which I don't like. But getting high on the Panama Green apparently has all of the medicinal effects of the Adderall, but with mild euphoria instead of dysphoria! So this has some medicinal benefits I wasn't expecting, or even looking for.
Late to the posting party, but that's exactly what I look for in a smoke these days.
This is the kind of buzz/high you'll find in the Apollo 11 line. And it sounds close to Super Silver Haze but probably "cleaner" in the head.

I have had similar issues with my adderal and I don't use it nearly as much as I used to because of the medicinal effects these strains are producing.

I think it's a really important point to hammer home because it's a far more natural (and pleasant) way to get motivated and moving day in, day out. I find it works better than pharmaceuticals and that can be a big help to those that would prefer to steer clear of that avenue but need the push for focus and energy.

I'm currently growing out a couple Genius x Panama made by a friend using an ACE plant, and looking to make this a primary daytime herb along with my trusted Apollo 11. I'll be running a batch of Panama by ACE by itself this fall, if all goes well so looking forward to honing in on this magic morning elixir and finding the spectrum of these two strains. :D

Happy growing and great report, thank you!

I'm running Panama here in Cali again. Outdoors. She's gonna be a monster plant. I already having guys call "dibs" on the bud. I'll be pollinating select branches as well. I have over 50 awesome assorted sativa, haze, kush, and indica males to work with. This is going to be an awesome growing and breeding year.
My nephew was here today, talking about the Panama cross plant he grew from seed I made a few years ago. He sold out, at top dollar for that bud almost immediately.
Cheers :D
