I just began harvesting my Orient express. Took down the more Chinese leaning phenos. This one was the best yielding of those:

I've still got two plants left. They are super tall and their buds, while much looser than the shorter ones, are ridiculously huge, like a 2 liter bottle. They both grew past the light. I plan on keeping one of them and growing it out in a scrog. Right now they're on day 70 but I think I'll probably have to take them down around day 80 because of space constraints.

I really love this strain, and I can't wait to try out the Vietnamese leaning ones. The Chinese ones are fairly mild and quite relaxing, so a good sativa would be nice.

Hi FL!Yes,i can say without doubt that OE has one of the top smells I've encountered so far...Very different than "usual"(dutch genes) strains...Can't really describe...Looks like this one smells exactly like her sister, which was top notch!

Hi Syd Barrett,

I'm glad you liked the outcome of your first Orient Express :)
Indeed, her organic aromas are quite different compared to the dutch skunk/afghani strains.

I would recommend you to increase NPK levels and also add micro nutrients, Orient Express is a hungry plant that can take high levels of nutrients (especially between 3rd and 6th week of flowering), with the right feeding she can yield a lot! Best wishes!

hallo dubi and everyone.:comfort: I am planning my orient express grow and i just want you to tell me what you think of this: My plan is first two weeks biobizz light mix only-no extra nutrients in 2 lt pots and then transplanting into 13lt pots with organic supersoil prepared from me. I am not planning to use nutriends because the organic soil will already have all the nutrients for the plant to absorb. But dubi sais in flowering feed them! Maybe i can add in the flowering some bio flores ? Any other tip ? Thanks everybody and keep growing dubis wonders!!!:thank you:

Hi george,

Yes, you can start them in Bio Bizz light mix for the first 2 weeks, but later i would recommend you to tranplant them to a richer soil like Bio Bizz all mix, then add a bit more of PK from organic source between the 3rd and 6th-7th week of flowering. She doesn't like hormone based flowering stimulators like Top Max.

Hope it helps!

Just dropped six OE beans on 8/18, two up so far. One of the two is trifoliate. Does anyone have any experience with trifoliate OEs? I searched the thread but could not find anything.

I am wondering whether this trifoliate plant will be worth keeping until sex shows, or whether I should euthanize it early.

Hi RoosterGrows,

I'm not a big fan of trifoliate plants and i usually discard them for breeding. My experience tells me that most of the times trifoliate plants are males or hermies. But if you have enough space let her grow and express herself!

Hi hush :)

Thank you very much for sharing your OE experience with us.
I'm glad you enjoy the genetics, Orient Express was my first main contribution to ACE Seeds catalogue in 2004 (although i started to breed with her in 2002). I appreciate a lot when growers also find interesting our older strains.

Most OE phenos are very high yielding, only the very hashplant china yunnan early flowering pheno has a more moderate yield and with worst flower/leaf ratio.

The 50/50 vietnamese/chinese like the one in your picture should be a high yielding pheno of moderate size and flowering time if i'm not wrong.

The longer flowering pheno you comment is the vietnamese pheno and although is taller can also yield a lot!

Hey thanks for chiming in, brother. Yes, that baseball bat pheno is beautiful in every way. Took it down at 70 days which is pretty quick for such a heavy yielder. It does seem like a 50/50 hybrid, and the high I get from the curing buds is heavenly. A great blend of mind and body. That's the one I'm hoping to reveg. I'm going to try to reveg one of the two tall Vietnamese leaning plants, too. It was the tallest and the buds are very sativa-looking. The other one, it was severely affected by mold, so I'm going to drop that one. I had to throw out the entire top cola.

OE is a fantastic strain, Dubi. I believe I will be ordering more of these seeds, which I might never have done if y'all didn't give me the freebies with my order. Top notch service, top notch. I'm an Ace fan for life!

Here's the top cola of the tall Vietnamese pheno I'm gonna try to reveg:

k13z1t.jpg

It's as big as an entire [sog] plant, really, but it's just the top cola. The plant was about 4ft tall. It's a funky shape for a single flower cluster, but each bud is a nice, tight, long flower. It's very beautiful. I look forward to seeing the end result after manicuring. This came down at 79 days, but easily could have gone probably 2 more weeks.

I'll try to post pics of the cured bud at a later date. I'm high on the baseball bat pheno right now this is my kind of medication. Not too much in the head other than some giggles, but plenty in the body and the eyelids. This really is a great strain.

Hi Holeshot,

Thanks also for sharing your OE with us :)
The flowers look like the China Yunnan hashplant pheno.
How are the aromas in late flowering ? Earthy, hashy, organic ?
I will be keeping her around for a while that's for sure Dubi.very nice plant , good yeilder.. Has a strong creamy skunk smell with a hint of metallic. The smoke is smooth but thick and dense. Hits very quick behind the eyes and warms my face up.Smoke too much and it will take you down.Small doses it is a strong , nice mellow happy high.Very recommendable Strain . I would love to try the Vietnamese black leaning phenos .Hint hint.Love ya work Dubi.!!!!

My baseball bat 50/50 pheno has only been revegging for a week, and it already has new vegetative growth! That's super fast! Fastest I've ever experienced, anyway. This strain is so vigorous!!

Hush, Great looking bud ! Mine won't have near that much weight when finished. I bought some inferior soil and thought I could make it work. There is to much time and energy involved to use inferior products because of price. A pallet of soil at a great price isn't always a great deal. Very nice job Hush. Peace

Hey thanks, friend. Yes, it's true that some times the best economical deals aren't the best horticultural deals. We've all made that mistake before. I know I have. I bet you're still gonna love the end product. This is a high quality strain right here. So unique and vigorous!

Hi farmerlion,

Looks like a nice OE compact pheno with good flower production in the lateral branches! :) All your plants yield very well, i like the way you feed your plants

How many weeks into flowering in the picture?

I believe they were at 5 weeks flowering dubi.(first pistils) I just gave them a heavier feeding yesterday. They will get one more light feeding then only water until harvest. I may let the Orient Express's go until they drop leaves drastically. I have one outside flowering, she will go until snow flies just to see how she takes very cold conditions. (just curious). I have a couple more packs from a reseller. I will run more next year for sure in much better soil. They will get a 2 to 2 1/2 month cure. I will have friends give me a smoke report after that time. Peace
