Flowering Tea?

Flowering Tea?

Massive thanks to BurnOne for this thread. I've been lurking for a couple of years now and figure I've finally got my mix down just right because my plants are looking fantastic.

I'm using LC's Soiless Mix #1 with dry ingredient Recipe #1. I'm growing 4 Jack Herrer and 5 Big Buddha Cheese from seed. I vegged for 6 weeks and just switched to 12/12 a week ago. The picture below is a male Jack that I've segregated from others to collect pollen from.

I have one question and I realize it might be covered in the 80+ pages but I couldn't see it so if I missed it, I'm begging forgiveness in advance: With the mix I'm using, would you use any supplemental tea in the flowering stage - something with molasses or bat guano for instance. I know in the intro it says nothing else is needed from veg to harvest but I also see a signature byline that states 'when I say water I mean molasses and water'!

Thanks again to BurnOne and all those who have contributed to this amazing thread.

You can always supplement if the plants need it. High P guano or Neptune's Harvest 2-4-1 fish will work.

Would I use the same amount of composted manures in the LC mix as worm castings? Or should I use more or less?

Thanks.

stoned_skater: I personally use the same soil mix (LC1 with dry fert recipe #1). I then just water with molasses and a tad of Liquid Karma, EVERY watering (well, with the exception of the last 2-3 weeks, which was water only...though I intended to do that flush for only a week, it ended up being a tad longer this time around). I did water once with a light guano tea, but I think if you get the soil recipe right that's mostly unnecessary. But, as always, let the plants tell you what they need (I'm still working on interpreting what they're saying..hehe).

Just a quickie on molasses, a product I'd never encountered til I came on ICMag.

Is this stuff.. http://shop.crowthersofwakefield.co.uk/molasses-5-litre-350-p.asp the same as the Blackstrap Molasses that you guys use? I think we call it treacle.

All the stuff I can find in the UK called 'blackstrap molasses' is in capsule form from health food stores.

It looks like it could be, hard to say from just the picture and short description. One thing you need to make sure of, is that's it's of the un-sulfured variety. If it says "molasses" and "un-sulfured", it's probably the right stuff.

how crucial is the pelite in LC's mix #1.

I have EWC Peat moss and lime. And i need to put the seeds in the mix and only keep them in there for about 3 weeks before i transfer them outside. you think they will be ok w/o perlite for 3 weeks until i transfer them outside?

Burn1, and the rest who have contributed, thank you for this thread. This is one of IC's finest for applicable knowledge. Major props to all who have contributed.

Can't really say enough, this thread has got me on my way and given me a solid understanding of wtf we're trying to do in organic gardening. Feed the soil, not the plant. I won't be forgetting that.

It doesn't look that bad to me. Press on a few more days and see if it gets worse. If it does, water with 1 tsp. Epsom salts per gallon of water and see if it corrects the problem.

Hey Burn One quick question about tea...for use with LC Soiless Mix #1 with everything

I want to make 20 gal. of concentrated veg mix then cut 5 gallons of conc. with 15 gal. of fresh H20 (water source is a very clean creek...0 EC, 5.4ph)...for 20 gallons of ready to use, yeilding 80 gallons total...I'm using Hurricane 5 Battery Operated Air Pumps to bubble in the bush, they bubble for one minute on and one off for 28 hours...Do these numbers add up?

Concentrate...20 gallons
-16 cups dry veg mix
-300ml LK
-300ml Black Strap

Thanks bro

Sorry if there was any confusion there...I'll try again

Can I make a concentrate of veg mix tea, say 4 times the strength, bubble it then cut that with plain water to bring it to normal strength?

Disguised

Hello,

Just read the whole thread! I plan to use this mix

LC's Soiless Mix #2:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix (any flavor from #1 up)
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
And since I plan to recycle my soil I want to use the 3LB method

RECIPE #4
Three Little Birds Method
40 gallons used soil
4 cups alfalfa meal
4 cups bone meal
4 cups kelp meal
4 cups powdered dolomite lime
30 pound bag of earthworm castings . . .
That’s the basic recipe . . .
However we also like to use
4 cups of Greensand
4 cups of Rock Phosphate
4 cups of diatomaceous earth
My question is that since I am making a fresh batch of LC mix rather than using used soil, I wouldn't need the additional 30 pound bag of EWC, I would just amend with everything else on the list?

Correct? Thanks!
